Storms storms storms..why can't I have one?

Ever since I was little, I have loved weather. Tornadoes especially fascinated me. It is almost impossible to wrap my little mind around something so massive, powerful, and oddly..beautiful.

It seems as if weather just was not meant to be my passion. I go out of town one day and a huge storm rolls in. The streets are flooded and debris is thrown across homes and businesses. All of my neighbors and friends told me how the sky looked like something they had never seen. They described it as having an odd green color to it, like it needed some cheesey eerie music to go with it to set the scene of a horror movie. A fellow meteorlogist in the making took pictures of the lightening and monstrous clouds. I decided that next time weather was in the forecast I'd stay home.

About a year and a half later I moved to a more tonado-prone area. I decided to go back to my original home town for a visit after living there for almost a year. As I'm visiting with some family, I get a text from a friend. She was panicking because the tornado sirens had gone off.Throughout the year I had lived there, I never heard the sirens go off because a tornado watch was advised. I immediately called her and explained what to do, where a safe place was, and to also keep me updated with the storm. Frustration and stupidity was all I could think about. "Stupid, stupid, stupid," I thought to myself.

I have always wanted to see a tornado rip through an empty lot of pure nothing. About twenty minutes later my friend text me saying a tornado went through an empty lot. No injuries or casualties were caused at all. If I would have waited a day to go travel, I could have seen the tornado, taken beautiful shots and videos, and maybe even be one of the youngest storm chasers ever.

Right now there is a possible tornado spawning super cell just one county away from me, yet there is no rain in my forecast. All these storms i just barely miss. They are all around me, taunting me with their unpredictable fury. One day I will catch a monstorous storm and collect data that will reduce the high number of deaths due to extreme weather conditions. For now, I just have to stay put and learn the increasing science of weather chasing.
