05-20-13May 19 and 20 saw several very violent tornadoes sweep actoss central Oklahoma. The scope of the magnitude of destruction here is still being processed; personally, the Moore tornado is perhaps the most violent I have ever experienced either in person of through all of the video I have watched over my lifetime... It was just incredibly, almost unfathomably violent; horrific is the best word I could think of to describe what happened yesterday. For more information on this event, please visit the NWS Norman website at Also, please consider a donation to the American Red Cross, or a local charity dedicated to helping the victims of these recent events.

dom-3-wingsLast week, TVN unveiled the latest edition to its storm chasing fleet: Dominator 3. D-3 will be piloted by TVN storm chaser Sean Schofer, and with severe weather on the slate this week, the crew will be back out in the field again, shaking off whatever rust remains from this relatively slow severe weather season, and reporting live to Oklahoma's KFOR-TV and (You can follow along with the chase live here.) Also, watch for Sean and Reed chasing with Jim Cantore this week on TWC's Tornado Hunt. A more substantial severe weather threat exists today for parts of Kansas, western Oklahoma and north Texas, so as always, those in the risk areas are encouraged to remain alert for watches and warnings throughout the afternoon and into the evening.  Below is the latest video showing the Dominator fleet, along with KFOR's Chopper4.

4-17-13_graphicA large portion of the central U.S. is under the risk for severe weather this afternoon and into the evening, with very large hail, damaging wind and strong tornadoes all possible. The greatest area of interest will be from southwestern Missouri and southeast Kansas across most of Oklahoma to the Texas border, as emphasized by the Storm Prediction Center and with the help of the graphic at left by TVN storm chaser Braydon Morisseau. Multiple storm chasers will be streaming live video to our sister site,, and Reed will be making updates from the field, so you can foloow along with him at Twitter or Facebook. If you are in the areas under threat, as always, we urge you to take today's severe weather situation very seriously, make safety preparations now rather than wait until you should find yourself in a warning, and remain informed through local media and, of course, keep an eye to the sky today.
