Tornado Fury trailer added to Youtube!

Ken Cole finally gave us the green light to add the Tornado Fury trailer to Youtube. He's is still working on the final production, which should be released sometime during the off-season (hopefully). Sorry we had to keep the low-res version at right for the last several months, but if you want to watch a higher-res version you can do so below (click on the video and select "watch in high quality")

Also, you may have noticed that Matt Van Every of TVN Stream 1 posted the previous blog entry. Matt and I will be tag-teaming the blog posts from here on out, so that we can make multiple posts daily to keep everyone updated on severe weather events as they unfold in real-time. We're also working on a click-to-enlarge option for the pictures uploaded to the blog to hasten our website download time. In other news

We have just been informed that the Ellis County, OK tornado video, shot on May 4, 2007, has been nominated for the best "Eyewitness Video" for the 2007 Youtube Awards!! TornadoVideos.net footage to air on Jay Leno tonight!

TornadoVideos.net's footage of the May 4, 2007 Ellis Co, OK tornado and the May 3, 1999 overpass incident will be used on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno this evening. The video will be used to supplement the Twister Sister's appearance on the show, as they talk about their new television series on WeTV. It will be interesting to see how they use the footage -- Hopefully they will at least keep the audio as is this time! Enjoy the show tonight...

Please post your comments about "Tornado Hunters", a documentary featuring the Outlaw Chasers, which was shown last night on Court TV (soon to be TruTV). I thought the show was very entertaining with some great close-up footage, and definitely shed a positive light on storm chasers as a whole. It was interesting to see the Mulvane, KS (June 12, 2004) and Throckmorton, TX (April 7, 2002) tornadoes from different angles.

New storm chasing show about the "Outlaw Chasers"

A new storm chasing show featuring the Outlaw Chasers (Randy Hicks and Lanny Dean) will air on Christmas night at 9:00 pm CST on Court TV. Named "Tornado Hunters", the show will include insane footage from the past several years, as well as a portrayal of the unique personalities of these controversial, yet very successful storm chasers. The footage on this show will be absolutely insane, and much of it has never been seen on television. Different from the other shows premiering this year, "Tornado Hunters" will be factually and chronologically accurate, and will not have any faked re-enactments. While I haven't heard from the production company as of yet, there may also be some TornadoVideos.net footage included in the show. I highly recommend everyone to tune in to Court TV on Christmas night!!! Shown above is a trailer about the Outlaw Chasers, and below is a link to the Court TV show schedule.

TornadoVideos.net Tornado footage on Desperate Housewives tonight!

Tonight's episode of Desperate Housewives, called "The Best DH Episode Ever", features a deadly tornado that roars through Wisteria Lane. The episode airs at 9:00 pm EST (8:00 pm CST), and will include some of TornadoVideos.net's footage (the Manitoba, Canada tornado I believe). While I don't watch this show, it will definitely be interesting to see how they use the footage.

Tornado Glory drawing interest nationwide!

Tornado Glory is set to air on PBS in Los Angeles, CA during primetime (9 or 10 pm PDT) on August 30 on both PBS affiliates. This is huge news for Ken Cole (director and producer), Reed, and Joel, since Los Angeles is a massive market of around 20 million potential viewers!

Also, Reed was recently featured in an article on Wisconsin Public Television, including an interview about Tornado Glory and storm chasing. He was actually on a storm chase in South Dakota while being interviewed for that article.

Tornado Glory airing nationally on PBS!

Tornado Glory, an award-winning storm chasing documentary produced and directed by Ken Cole, will air nationally on PBS over the next few months. This unique film documents the storm chasing adventures of Reed Timmer and Joel Taylor of TornadoVideos.net during the record-breaking 2003 tornado season, and features several close encounters (one within 200 yards) with violent tornadoes and damaging hail storms. Ken filmed the entire documentary from an unprecedented perspective in extreme conditions, alongside Reed and Joel even at the most life-threatening moments.
