I just got off the phone with Joel, and they can see the western edge of the eye of Hurricane Dolly on the horizon. They're currently on the beach and are in perfect position for intercept - reporting 70+ mph sustained at this time in the outer eyewall. They're hoping to stream blue sky from inside the eye! Check out the tracker page for the live streaming video!

Stream 1 is DIALED IN!!!! Way to go the stream looks amazing.
95 mph now in the latest advisory - 967 mb
Hurricane Hunter plane flying through the eye as I write this, update will be available from NHC shortly. This thing is a monster!! At least compared to what the expectations were.
Aircraft reports 961 mb in the eye!!
great streaming
wow this is the most awesome livestream I've ever seen!
your doing a great job on the live stream guys! keep it up...
nice job with the footage, my friend who lives an hour west of brownsville made it out of there before the storm hit!
but if i were her... i'd be out there!!!
Awesome video people!
I just looked at the radar loops and I think the eye stopped moving. Am I just seeing things?
Yea strike i noticed that too on GR.
Strike, you're right. Dolly has definitely slowed down, almost to a stop. At this rate, South Texas will never dry out!!
Well actually its a good and bad thing Dolly is stopping right now. The good thing is that Texas needs the much-needed rain, but if it is too much rain...
You guys are AMAZING !!! I guess they have SPI shut down huh? Stream is working here.
Looks like an xxxxl HP spinner mates! Are you guys going to get out and walk around? They got to come up with some sport for this.. Like hurricane kite sailing.. Imagine that! LOL! Just kind of float around at high speed with a kite and rudder changing elevation around the eyewall.. Look mates.."Its Rocky the flying squirell"
so let me get this straight, you guys give us perfect streaming in the middle of a !#@% hurricane but your streaming struggles like @#$@# in a pre tornado chase aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa whatever im over it. nice footage guys, your totally dominating!!!
It's blowing rain and wind on TVN live stream 1!!!
.......and meanwhile its nice and quiet here in Houston, only for now, the rain bands will come from Dolly later on
ai I lost connection I guess it had to happen at some point.
hey guys, any of you have a black live streaming video screen? Cause mine doesn't showthe streaming. I know it says dissconnected, but before that it was working perfectly fine and it said dissconnected...
The live stream has obviously gone down because I am now trying to watch it.
*WEEPING*
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You ve missed some crazy stuff heidi! at some point I was sure they would go flying off with the wind.
Heidi! I was having fun watching that! Go away!!!
I was watching since 9:00 AM Central!
Still not streaming!!!
Must... stay... awake...
I literally did not sleep last night. I have been totally glued to the computer.
Looks like Dolly is going north now
Your right, Cors. I just looked at the NWS radar loop and it looks like its going north
p.s. Tornado watch issued for right half of south Texas!
cat2 now!
I would say the stream isn't working cause Reed said before this that they would have to rely on wifi if the cell towers went down. So either their trying to establish a connect with wifi or a cell tower or both are out of power.
I hope they get some good inner-eye footage.
I just spoke with Joel and they are thinking about re-positioning north since the eye has stalled and is wobbling a little northward. He said they'll have the stream up and going again in about 10 minutes. They had to restart the computer - conditions are not ideal he said. and they have 5 people packed in Joel's truck! they'll stream the eye for sure - they just need to reposition north slightly
Thanks Reed! The eye is just about to make landfall...
The eye is about to make landfall very shortly. She is a cat 2 as cors mentioned and looks incredible on radar. According to the last spot TVN 1 was they should be in perfect position.
5 guys in a truck? Must be a little humid in there boys. Still not getting the stream up here.
Looking forward to the streaming in the eye mates.
you bet its humid in there, JC. if you live down in the Texas coast, it gets VERY humid round here
Yes it does get VERY humid. I have been in 2 of those HP spinners. You see the water just dripping out of your pores... I am serious about the Rocky the flying squirrel stint though.
I could see it now.. the new extreme sport of hurricane sailing.. I have some of my colleagues out here that ride 60 ft waves. "no way for me" and some of my OBX buddies are over there in texas trying to surf Dolly's Waves. The things we do for excitement huh?
Hey TVN stream team.. Hope you get the stream up before the eye hits land. Getting kind og "sticky" bout now in that truck... Cheers
I just got news that Dolly just became a cat 2 now with 100mph winds.
It is now just 1 or 2 hours a way from making landfall.
Actually when hurricane Rita came in, I think 2006? My friends told me while the hurricane was came pounding through, they played football! I would like to see hurricane surfing...lol
Man Dolly is getting really close now. Maybe the next hour the eye will hit land. I bet that the guys can see the eye from were they are. Hope the stream goes up before the eye hits.
Stream still not working.. ahhh.. :( Looks like a northern path is on deck for this spinner. Cheers!
hi, i live in monterrey mexico, we have warning about the storm, but we have many mountains, and, we just recived rain, strong rain, in tv news say, tonight is the most critical moments,...
i'm trying to see the live streaming video, but, i can't!!! i don't know why....
well guys, i hope your life is save!
xoxo
Stream is back
WOW!!! This is a very smooth stream!! Amazing!!! I'm so excited for you guys!
Dolly is staying offshore and getting stronger!
I hope TVN packed some leather straps and found a pipe thats far enough in the ground to hold onto!! ;)
Listen to what the NWS is saying:
WIDESPREAD FLOODING IS OCCURRING...OR WILL OCCUR...IN THE WARNED
AREA. MOST ARROYOS AND CREEKS WILL FLOOD. NUMEROUS ROADS WILL BE
CLOSED...AND LIVESTOCK WILL BE LOST. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND
IMMEDIATELY!
DON'T BECOME A STATISTIC. TURN AROUND...DON'T DROWN!
Good luck as this eye comes on shore. It will only get worse (Better for us weather nuts who want to watch the stream) for the people of Port Mansfield.
Did you see that fire they had on the stream earlier??
Joel said it was a downed transformer but they had to get out of there because power lines were about to come down on top of the vehicle.
INSANE!!
Ya i saw the fire to. Now they are beside a house.
The eye should be of shore anytime soon.
PS - I have 80 radar pictures and counting.
Downgraded now to Cat 1.
I wish the streaming video was not so shaky. Hard to watch. CNN has some good coverage going from Padre Island.
hey a deer! no way!
poor deer!!! I took a screenie of it!
I hope nobody is in any of those over turned trailers. Lots of damage and it looks anything but over. These areas are in for a reversal of wind direction very soon.
P.S. Manitoba, Saskatchewan border under a watch now.
CRAP! I missed a fire! WHAT! At least I saw the deer. LOL! Some nice videoing they're getting.
They only had the fire on the screen for a second because the power lines overhead were about to fall on their car from what Joel said.
It looks like they're heading north now to possibly intercept some of those tornadic cells in the outer bands. They should have captured the deer to keep as a pet. It could be named Dolly
Haha, Reed. I hope they got some pics of the Deer and the Fire, and maybe even they Eye, I've never seen one of those before....
Hopefully the drug/illegal alien checkpoint just south of Sarita, TX won't slow them down too much. I've sat there for 30 minutes at times...
I can't imagine chasing a tornadic storm moving to the southwest! Good luck guys!
Ahhh.. I missed the action... Was in a board meeting... Stream is not up on my end...
Looking forward to the vid clip TVN team put together. Looks like it is breaking up a bit on radar. Hope all is safe...
Monterey is going to get some BIGTIME rain from this. mudslides could be a major problem down there. Dolly is drifting southwest now and will probably slow down even more. this is going to be ugly
Lol i deer named Dolly... at least that's a little more original than a buck named Bucky.. haha
Looks like I missed out on these feeds! I caught a few mins of them earlier, awesome stuff. I'd still choose a tornado over a hurricane, that's for sure.
SKgirl, you may get your choice this afternoon.
In the tornado reports for today, they mention an overturned RV in San Patricio county, Texas... I wonder if that was the same one from stream 1?
I just heard from Matt and they'll have the video ready to go in 3-4 hours, so another hour on top of that and I'll have it up on the site. They are south of San Antonio at the moment heading back toward Norman. It will end up being about 30 straight hours of non-stop driving with 5 people packed in their car.
I am currently uploading an animation of all the radar images that i collected from Hurricane Dolly. Should be up shortly.
Warning: Off Topic:
Minot Radar. I could have been there right now. Wonder what Rob and Justin are on???
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Strike, with the way it feels outside, I would expect more to roll around. We caught one earlier..just a lot of downpours...
Offtopic too: Tornado warning was issued for a short time south SK...wonder if thats where the boys are??
I spoke to Rob and Justin... Rob said the storm is rotating and beginning to form a wall cloud near Pipestone, MB. This storm definitely has a chance as it moves east into the better shear. I'm sure they're getting some amazing pictures
Ah, with the last radar scan, I'm thinking it's going down right about now.
I'm literally crying right now. Just sobbing into the puter. I wimped out. I blew it.
Andrew... No worries mate... There will be more.. Everytime there is an outbreak or even a good isolated cell ... If I was close to being "in the zone" but wimped out... I know the feeling.
Don't feel that way about these xxxxl HP spinners though. Especially with 5 guys in a truck. Looking forward to stream 1's vids though. Actually wish I was there yesterday catching some of the surf..
