TVN storm chasers Joel Taylor, Matt Chatelain, Daniel Betten, Matt Van Every, and Curtis McDonald are currently heading south through Texas to intercept Hurricane Dolly at landfall tomorrow east of Brownsville, TX. Check out the live tracker tomorrow for live streaming video throughout the hurricane landfall, and hopefully from inside the eye if cell phone towers can remain functional. As of the last advisory, Dolly has attained minimal hurricane status, and is forecast to strengthen to at least 80 knots by landfall tomorrow morning. Convection has tried to explode and wrap completely around the center all evening, and an eye has begun to appear on Brownville, TX radar and possibly latest IR imagery (see below).

The forecast track for Dolly is still directly over the TX/Mexico Border east of Brownsville, very near South Padre Island. TVN Stream 1 will attempt to document the storm from a barrier island if possible, since the storm surge will not be out of control. Stay tuned for updates as the hurricane chase unfolds!

holy GL GUYS hope there will be some good pic's and vid's posted !!!!!!
Good luck!
Please Stay Safe!!
They said it is following the same path as Buela in '67. She spawned 122 tornadoes. They also said to stay away from the Rio Grande levees because they are so old and won't hold much. Stay safe and have fun guys!
TVN Stream 1 is Dominating! Do not run out of gas guys! I'm hearing major gas supply shortages reported in the area already. The eye is showing nicely on GR now. Good Luck!
I talked to Joel and they forgot their helmets and rain suits! They might also have to live off the land for a few days.
Good luck to who all is going down there!!!! Bring me back something good to watch so i can have something to do while I beat the heat. Ugh I swear I can't take much more of this!! 8-O
Wild setup She's looking good....
We didnt forget, we have our swim trunks and snorkel gear.
Matt.. Very Funny. What about the scuba gear? Have a safe trip! SPI will be a good one if you get across that hwy 100.. Get in one of those hi-rises with the stream boys!
Good luck guys, if the bridge goes out, Stream 2 will send his uncle, in nearby Arroyo city, out to drop you supplies including a burnt orange life raft to get you all back to the main land safely!
Blackbeard's is a great restaurant on the north side of the island, and if you head to Mexico, don't go to Matemoros, but Nuevo Progresso instead...
Stay safe guys! TVN Stream Red (4) is ready to deploy if you guys need assistance.
Good luck!

Last I heard from Joel they should be in South Padre Island by 3 or 4 am. Brownsville radar looks like the eye is tightening up and the eye wall is becoming better organized. damn I wish I was down there...
I feel your pain Reed. I wish I was down there too. I couldn't find anybody to go with me so I didn't go. She does looke pretty good on radar. The eye wall is becoming alot better organized.. 1 tornado already reported with one of the rain bands. A tornado watch is currently in effect as well. I have seen 3 tornado warnings so far down there. Sucks I am only a 8 hour drive away.
I feel your pain too Reed...not at all to rub it in, but you can really see the eye organize on the spc website if you watch the radar loop on "overview".
Stream 1 should get some great footage.
That Brownsville radar loop is looking pretty sick. They should stop by a Wal-Mart going down there and get a raft... for just in case. As long as they have the goggles though, they will be ok.
I will refuse to ride in anything burnt orange.
We are filling up with gas in Corpus, getting ready to make the last jog of our trip to South Padre. The hurricane has really started to look better organized over the past few hours and we expect a strong Cat 1 to weak Cat 2 to make landfall near South Padre mid morning. We'll have the livecam up by sunrise. Stay tuned....
It looks like its almost there..
