Severe weather likely today over North-central U.S.

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a slight risk for a large part of the North-central U.S. for this afternoon and evening, with strong straight-line winds and large hail being the main threats.  The environment over southern Minnesota is most favorable for supercells as an outflow boundary from last night's convection settles in the area.  Still though, this environment will be characterized by weak low-level shear, so any tornadoes will likely be brief - if at all.  The extended range models are showing a nice Canadian trough this weekend into early next week... but confidence in this solution is low!

I can only hope it rains here. Storms have been missing us by a couple miles for weeks and with only .25 of rain so far this month we are in dire need of it. Grass is all dead around here and corn crops are starting wither. Just hope it doesn`t hail and destroy whats left of it.

Have all my cameras charged up and ready to see what happens. So far its been all north of me all morning and its heating up fast again. Its 88F already with dew point of 70F. Prime time for fueling it up.

Tornado watch just issued for a fairly large area covering central Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

SKGirl, I think you are probably the closest to the action. Go get us some pics!

OMG I'm at work, and i don't have my camera with me! :(
If I get anything, it's with my cell phone
I see some VERY VERY interesting clouds to my north AND west. Haven't seen rotation yet.

Maybe I have a chance to see tornado #2?!?!

Tornado watches have also been issued for Edmonton and surrounding areas.

"A few funnel clouds have been spotted west of Edmonton this afternoon. More funnel clouds are expected in central Alberta. Some of these funnel clouds may reach the ground and produce weak tornadoes."

Why I am not under a tornado watch in Canora I do not know...i didn't bother reporting the wall cloud and weak funnel I already spotted today. If they didnt believe me about a tornado last week, chances are they won't believe me now!

Watch south dakota as explosive supercells likely lp will form with tornados/very large hail as airmass continues its destabilize section already near 3,000 mu cape and favorable bulk shears for supercells. Also we needed to watch for storm development near the islands Antillies because what forms should go into the gulf shown by some models.
