Tornado watches have been issued by Environment Canada for parts of Alberta and Saskatchewan for the possibility of "cold-core funnels", which are usually very weak and brief and rarely cause damage. These types of vortices are not associated with supercells, and typically occur under a strong, cold upper-level storm system. During situations when the warm sector is marginal for supercell tornadoes, storm chasers are often faced with the dilemma of chasing the cold core further west or the warm sector to the south and east. I almost always chose the latter unless it looks completely terrible, but cold core tornadoes can be fun to chase since they're usually so weak you can drive through them! But this is not recommended!

Cells firing in southern Manitoba now. Right along the MB, ND Border. Also under a watch. Not sure if its worth chasing or not. Any advice from the experts?
Reed and Chris are about to intercept the bow echo approaching Grand Rapids - tracker is up!

I have a video of a funnel or two or maybe 3 haha. I know one was definitely a funnel, but the other two also might've been. I have a picture too. I can't upload them because my computer sucks and gives me all this stupid stuff saying This hardware installation did not pass Windows Logo verification test blah blah. Oh well.

I'll be in the zone if the thing holds together for another 200 miles!!

Looks like Elida will bring about BIG surf for us tomorrow through late Saturday.. Hoping to be the "early bird catching the worm" as an O dark thirty surf session is on deck for the AM.
Large cumulus approx 35,000 to 40,000 ft top t-storm structures forming about 20 miles east of my location attm.. Maybe some interesting weaher coming in with the hurricane flow. I will monitor it after the surf session.
*laughing* Sorry, I'm ROFL hearing the last part of the blog post.....*laughing more*
Monsoon season is in So Cal.. We could see some land/waterspouts and great lightning here the next couple of days. If things are right, we may get a rotator or 2. Cumuli are again forming along the foothills & starting to show some impressive structure. Huge horizontal tubes starting to roll in.
Ari... LOL... I was rolling on that comment at the end of the blog post too. "weak enought to drive through but not recommended" I was bustin up!
