Supercells will be likely today from Southeast Montana southward to Eastern New Mexico as strong instability develops by late afternoon. The most favorable areas for tornadoes will be across western Nebraska southward to East-central Colorado/West Kansas, where instability will be maximized and low-level shear will be barely sufficient. As is typically the case with northwesterly flow events, any discrete supercells that initially form will likely congeal rapidly into an mesoscale convective system (MCS). TVN Stream 4 (Extreme Tornado Tours) with Dave Holder and John Harris will be streaming live today from the CO/KS border.
Severe storms will also be possible ahead of a cold front moving east across the central/eastern Canadian Prairies. While low-level shear will be lacking, or east of the instability axis, supercells will be possible given sufficient deep-layer shear and instability - especially across Eastern SK/Western MB. Once the deep moisture makes it north of the Border TVN will be migrating in the direction of Canada!

How exciting--you're talking about Canada and Saskatchewan :D
Wow, no idea why it double posted..
Anyways, I'll be definitely keeping my eyes to the sky even more today, just in case :).
Hey Reed, I was looking at the 12z GFS and it looks like the Fri-Sun timeframe next week could be HUGE for the N Plains and Canada. Dews in the 70s, CAPE exceeding 5000j/kg, and a strong negative tilt trough. We will be chasing it if it verifies as it looks pretty incredible per the lastest run from S Canada to the Dakotas! O I forgot to mention the S/SE LLJ and SE surface winds.
Good luck...... remember ET LOL.
So you're saying this is going to continue for me??
wow...i see that Micheal O..looks insane.
but yah the Canadian season is warming up...alberta got slammed yesterday...north Edmonton experienced some flash flooding. i would have chased but i work at 6-7:30 so i always miss the good stuff :(
mike you did miss the good stuff...my van went sideways. almost didnt make that one. well ghat what i get for driving right into the hood lol. ye haaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!
Cool you might be coming to Canada!
PLEASE SEND THE STORMS TO CANADA!!! I am getting tired of night after night of storms!! I want to get my pool up before summer vacation is over!!
Tornado Warnings are crazy right now in the Plains. So it looks like Canada is next in line fro these destructive storms huh. I wish them the best of luck with them.
Before everyone starts to get into panic mode. It is still 10 days out and things can change quickly so I wouldn't get excited yet. I was just mentioning the fact it looked interesting. I make no guarentees as this is the weather we are talking about.
It definitely looks like the moisture will make it north of the border by this weekend/early next week at the latest.
it's happening
Reed, you just made my day by saying that!! :O
And I am going to add--whether this model verifies or not, right now it's scary to think I am in a potential large threat zone...I always say I cant imagine how people feel down there in the US when that's going on, now for a moment I have the thought I just may soon enough (if that makes sense)
Ya'll coming out to the Handle today?
where in north texas???? hopefully dallas!!!
Sorry Bob but all the action is in the TX Panhandle where there are three Tornado warned supercells, they are probably producing big hail, but not the biggest ever. Very large and mean looking cells regardless.
Canadain season warming up? You got that right, Reed!
Currently there are Tornado Warnings in SE Saskatchewan. More details in the Canadian nowcasting thread.
hey does anyone know when eastern NE/west IA will get slammed, or god forbid has the season passed!?
Hello folks,
significant severe weather is expected in Germany on this Sunday. 40 kts DLS and up to 40 kts LLS is forcasted to be combined with moderate instability. But I don't want to spam you with too much details.
Greetings to our American friends,
Volker
Hi volker hope you get good pics.
You got that right Reed. It appears tomorrow there could be a few weak tornadoes near Drayton Valley. I might be chasing with Mike W. and hopefully we can get some good things! Temperatures will be near 30 degrees tomorrow(90f) dew points at 60F (15 degrees celsius) and there is about 35 knt shear according to the current analysis. I hope something pops tomorrow! It should be exciting. you can phone me any time Reed. 222-3503
