Check out this video of TVN chopping down a tree that was heavily damaged from the December 2007 ice storm. This is an example of how we kill time in between storm chases!
We'll be departing in a few hours for a target of Northwest Iowa/Southwest Minnesota for tomorrow. The north-south orientation of the front is much more favorable for storms to remain discrete! I'll be posting in detail about tomorrow's setup after the evening models are available. Stay tuned for updates!

LOL, ever used a chainsaw ? they really make short work of a job like that. Surprised that nobody was injured with that axe. Hey, if your in the area of New Ulm,MN tommorow
give me a shout. Just google Garden Terrace Apts. Work
and home all in one. Good place to watch storms rolling in
is at Walmart or the Airport across the road just 1 mile away.
lmao....how novel reed...real mans work lol. dont get a blister on them fingers of urs...might not be able to type lol.
Any way you could edit that video to put the Jackass slide guitar at the beginning?
There's a beautiful road grid in southwest MN...
Thank god you guys don't chase storms like you brought down that tree. Ha
Video of the year!
HAHA. the begining of the video sounds like a storm chase.
"Its coming down"
"Everybody back up"
It makes me feel a little better about tomorrow's setup to know the Reed and co. are heading all the way up to the NW Iowa/SW Minnesota area. I'm personally hoping SW Minnesota pans out, but the SPC makes me wonder a bit about that since they kept the moderate risk down in the Iowa area. Who knows, there's plenty of time for things to change in my favor. Looking forward to Reed's explanation of tomorrow's setup. Might help in determining exactly where in SW Minnesota I want to target.
Hey guys im sure I could have "borrowed" a chain saw from my fire station for ya.
After watching storm chasers take that long to chop down a small tree, I can't help but wonder what it'd be like to watch the crew from "Axe men" storm chase.
My Mom says that looks very dangerous. Reed you could have lost your shorts if one of those limbs hooked on to a belt loop! I speak from experience.
How long is that tree gonna lay in your backyard?
Is Chris alright? How many TVN's does it take to cut down a tree? Tune in tomorrow same TVN time.
Same TVN channel.
How can I possibly work this into the board game?
ill have to follow you on live tracker since i live in the last county in southwest minnesota.. if i didnth ave to work id be chasing the area myself.. SUCKS
lol...you guys should really invest in a chainsaw if you do this often
EPIC video, though
LOL Reed... thats so funny =)
"Its coming down" really sounds like ya gettinganother tube.
Next time I am back to US, I'll bring ya a chainsaw!
I think you guys need a better ax, like a much larger one, lol
You guys got dominated by a tree - flat out dominated!
Condensed Tornado Watch for South Alberta (SouthEast of Calgary)... Unable to follow through on this as I need to head to work. Edmonton's starting to get dark as well... looks like things are starting to fire up to the SouthEast of Edmonton and I'm expecting thunderstorms to hit us while I'm at work :(
Lethbridge - Taber - Milk River

Tornado watch for
Brooks - Strathmore - Vulcan issued
Conditions are favourable for the development of funnel clouds or weak tornadoes. Thunderstorms have developed in the Brooks and Lethbridge regions and are moving southwestwards at 20 km/h. At 2:30 PM, funnel clouds were reported 10 km southeast of Strathmore. It is possible these funnel clouds may touch down producing weak tornadoes.
I leave tomorrow for a 10 day trip with my church, and this is the last video I get from yall? Oh well, I guess I can always hope for some waterspouts off the Florida coast!
I know this really should be in the Nowcasting thread on the forum, but I have very little time, and this is easier and quicker.
SW Edmonton just got hit by dime-sized hail... I got video, but I'm not in a very good position as I was JUST about to head into a shower (mind you, that shower was VERY quick indeed). Now Edmonton is under a Tornado Watch, woot!
I'll catch you guys later, need to head to work now - I'm taking camera with me though :)
Good Luck Tomorrow!
I have relatives in northwest Iowa...near LeMars.
Have you ever seen a tornado in Iowa? I've looked through the videos and have not seen one in Iowa.
The blade must have been dull, and it looks
like they were having fun doing the old
fashion way with true grit.Risk is there
business.awsomely crazy. Dan
Khoi really got owned by the tree... that's the best part of the video, when Rick has to go over and give Khoi a hug, tell him it's ok to let the tree win the battle... big brother Rick will finish it off...
Alberto, there is a NOWCASTING thread for today in the forum. You can post current weather info there as long as you follow the rules.
Reed!
If you think you may be heading reasonably into southern MN at all, I might make the drive from St.Paul. I need to see some action! I will look for your post, but seriously keep us posted! That would cool.
So.....they don't have chainsaws in OK? Looks like the kind of luck I have- you'd think gravity would work in that spot too.
I love how you guys are swinging the axe like a baseball bat! Way to show that tree who is boss!
Is it too late for you guys to detour to Kansas? :0
hahahaha normally we hear in those cool guys the term "tornado on the ground" but now, "a man on the ground!!!" IT IS A TOUCH DOWN...nyahahaha
Reed why are you not chasing.Look this is what i expect today greatest tornado threat will be in kansas tornados could be violent 3,5000 cape and strong shear.Already my swift radar has 31kts shear markers on cell in kansas in north part of tornado watch.I did not post this in forum so everyone could see where to look for tornado threat.Yeh and enhanced voerticty is there also on the dryline.
Alberto, let's all breathe deep...
Stream1 just popped up in KANSAS of all places.
Stream1 completely dominates. My heroes.
now that's what I call teamwork!!
umm a chainsaw would be a good idea next time
Are you KIDDING me !!
WOW... I have never seen so many people for one tree downing... My goodness boyz.. Get a chain saw.
What else goes on in your down time?
I swear I saw "Steve-O" at .21 sec mark. And I second the "Chain Saw".
That is hilarious! Great video.
Clearly that tree did not want to die. If it could have, it probably would have eaten you all.
At least you don't sit down and watch tube all summer...waste your energy on chopping trees is a classic, though. I gotta go with th e chain saw idea...
lol. yeah, bigger axe. next time try a sword. :P
i keep seeing posts on people in minnesota. heres an idea. lets get together some time and make our own upper midwest chase team. maybe in coalition with TVN. just an idea.
