Here is the video of the strong, violent tornado in Northeast AR from Don G of TVN Stream 2. Note how low the wall cloud is! Sadly it appears that this tornado caused significant damage to at least a few structures, but I've been out of touch with the news since yesterday. I'll have images up of the low-contrast wedge near I-40 that we intercepted earlier in the day, as well as the tragic scene in Enterprise, MS. Thankfully though, no injuries were reported at this time in Enterprise due to the lengthy warning time - and the whole town went to a shelter. Stay tuned for updates.
On the Discovery Channel tonight...an hour special on Greensburg, which the one year anniversary is tomorrow. I think this is kicking things off for that new 13 part series on the Science channel on rebuilding the town...should be interesting, as Josh Wurman is interviewed for it.
Nice job Don & Nicole :) I saw this footage on Nightline last night & didn't know it was you guys!
Our chief Met. at Jonesboro has damage photos from this tornado taken from Air Evac up on his blog, as well as additional photos of the tornados that were in our viewing area yesterday.

Also, "You don't need to know", I think lost of the info you're looking for is available at the SPC in the archives. http://www.spc.noaa.gov/
Initial map is done - clicking my name will bring it up. NOW comes the "fun" part - factoring in large hail, as well as which counties only had a warning. (The list doesn't show those).
I also noticed the NOAA site doesn't show the VA storms. :(
The terrain there was pretty good, I'd say comparable to southeast KS/northeast OK. There are patchy trees, but very flat and with large open areas such as the field the tornado passed over. The road network was also pretty good, although it didn't matter because the tornado was moving nearly 60 mph diagonal to the grid so there was no way we could keep up.
I'am glad that Reed and his team stop to help injured people out. Some of the other teams out there could care less, they just want to see how many storms they can intercept.
Hey 'You don't need to know', good job on the map. Though I think I dissagree with the SPC here, there was a report of power lines and tree limbs down in/near Camden, in Benton county TN (near Carrol county, where there was a tornado report), but seeing as there was a very well shaped Wall Cloud as it went over the Tennessee River, I think it was probably a brief touchdown, not straight line winds (as it was recorded as)
Figure out the average amount the bill is and add about five or so to it to be safe Then set that amount to pay automatically on an online bill pay system.
How's it looking for the DFW TX area Monday-Wednesday? I know there's a chance for storms but they're not saying anything about severe wx yet. Hopefully not since I have a golf tournament on Tuesday. :-)
I couldn't monitor things yesterday, but wow 60 mph to the NE? That would not be fun at all. That's incredible footage, I'll hope to see something half that great during the day this year. I may not see a tornado until 2010 the way things are going. I've got to figure out what is jinxing us, then unjinx it! It's bad when others and Heidi have labeled me the shelf cloud king. Great footage from Thursday as well...incredible still photo with lightning in the background!

Andrew, what kind of intel you have that says s***'s going to hit the fan in 12 days????
If it hits minneapolis, you KNOW it'll come after NE wisconsin next.
Well ... the way I see it, there's a shelf cloud, and THEN there's a Dick M. shelf cloud. I want to see you start using *pwned* as your shelf-cloud photo watermark. Leave it open to interpretation, of course. :D
Reed, are you having short-term memory issues or something? lol :)
Tuesday looks real interesting on the NAM. Major storms late in the day across the panhandle if it verifies. It surely will be a huge day, it is right in the middle of finals week.

Hello everyone!I am predicting one of the most active days for severe weather in the plains tomorrow.East and along dryline there should be 2,000 to 4,000 cape, aling with strong deep layer shear for supercells. From early in the day outflows should be present and may give a higher tornado threat given sufficiant low locla heights and backing of winds for tornadic supercells. My prediction tomorrow will be a very bad tornado outbreak.
Parts of oklahoma texas panhandle and south kansas east colorado.Watch likely! Severe strom watch 70%.Tornado watch 30%. Cape now 1,200 and strong supporive shear for supercells.Hail, winds, isloated tornados possible. Tornados may occur this evening when moisture and backed winds are greatest!
I think 10,000 people sounds a little too high. If it's anything over 1000 dead because of one cyclone I really don't know what to say, except that's a messed up deal.
When I go to play this video, it says it is no longer available.
me too...
Beautiful work!
Wow, amazing footage. That monster grew into a wedge pretty quickly. The CGs only made that video even more amazing.
Good tube too bad you couldn't catch up to it.
Video is working now, great footage! Even with the hills along the side of the road, the view was great.
That was very cool. I liked how it was so small then just grew to a large tornado.. VERY NICE
That was awesome!! Can't believe how quickly it grew!
Wow. That thing had some very violent motion in it.
I'm compiling a map for May 1st & 2nd - if anyone remembers the counties that had tornado warnings, and those that had touch-downs, please post them.
When it's done, I'll post a link to it.
Wow, incredible footage, Don! How was the terrain in the area? I know there are parts of Arkansas that are as flat as Kansas.

I figured out our data card problem... I forgot to pay the bill!!!!
That's the reason we had no tracker or streaming yesterday. Major ball droppage.

LOL a lot at Reed.
Sounds like me. I forget until the phone gets disconnected or the electricity gets turned off...
Reed, start saving gas money for that trip up North, if the GFS is right we're all gonna die here in MN in 288 hours.
LOL.
hey Heidi, check this out! AAAAAAAAAAAAA =)

Where can I find the old blogs at? I have looked everywhere and can't seem to find them anymore!

(starts caching gas, chainsaws, axes, & food). :))
Hey Jake - Check it out NOW!
For chasers, spotters, monitors, LEO's, & rescue crews alike... that IS what it was.
Nice video capture of a wedge from genesis to maturity. I hope that wasn't a house in orbit around it.
When is considered to be the "peak" of the season over there?
Wow, that's a lot of tornadoes!
Maybe I was right in thinking that it should go to a High risk...
Hell, at one point there were so many warnings that I half-expected to see something like THIS pop up on the tv (you know the drill - click the name)
Well ... the way I see it, there's a shelf cloud, and THEN there's a Dick M. shelf cloud. I want to see you start using *pwned* as your shelf-cloud photo watermark. Leave it open to interpretation, of course. :D

CORS!!! Did you see that in Oklahoma!! HAHAHA!!!
"You don't need to know"
It was a 288 hour run of the GFS (so it means absolutely NOTHING, lol). I meant it as a joke.
But I would guess that our severe weather season would be starting up here really soon.
Well, there might just be something a lot sooner than 288 hours....
NWS has a notice that spotters MAY be required tues afternoon and evening for western Wisconsin.
Tomorrow looks interesting in SW KS if moisture can return, and Tuesday looks like a big day for the tx panhandle.

Cyclone hit Myanmar. Diplomats said the country's foreign minister acknowledges as many as 10,000 could be dead.
looks like that stormsurge whent right up the pipe.
Any one chasing the sw ks event today?

Tornado warnings in new mexico.Watch likely soon for texas 4inch hail spotty isolated tornados

I am predicting at least an f4 for the texas panhandle tomorrow
Alberto didn't post that f4 comment. He would know enough to call it an ef4.
roob, that's what CNN.COM is reporting. Possibly 10,000 killed.
