Here are pictures of the rather large tornado we intercepted in Dawson Co, TX from earlier today (Wednesday) that touched down shortly after 4:00 pm CDT. The storm was continually struggling to ride the outflow boundary from earlier convection, but became elevated and died shortly after the tornado.

Below is the radar image from the second storm we intercepted just west of the first. At the time of this image, the storm was really wrapping and nearly put down a large tornado. But once again, the storm became undercut by the boundary and slowly weakened. Just as we caught the storm to the west, and nearly were struck by several CGs! Several us were shocked by the nearby strike.

Nice guys. Thanks for the stream earlier this evening. I thought you had another when you were between Big Spring and Abilene, but the warning seemed to stay east of you.
What kind of cameras do you guys use to take your pictures?
Nice pics Reed. Tomorrow there's a moderate chance in the parts of the Great Plains...
Good pictures, Reed. I wish I could have been out there with the usual suspects in the Abilene area once again, but I had to work today. Craig called and said they tracked down some large hail and a few suspicious whirls in a few other cells. Too bad I had to work!
Too bad about the lightning, it get's creepy especially when your the tallest target for miles. Nice tube, The first week of May is coming......
Nice pictures!
I just posted this on the last thread but then noticed there was a new thread haha my bad. Anyways, these were taken in and around Lamesa, TX today. What a great day, tornadoes, hail, and flooding! Side note, the tank was on fire due to a lighting strike
Here's the link to the video of the tornado in Dawson Co. Tx
nice.......
Great video Josh! From what direction were you looking?
Was that from the west? From the east there appeared to be a low clouds that concealed the parent wall cloud... did you see this? That was probably the only window for tornadoes before being undercut by the boundary
Great work yesterday Reed.
I was sitting at the computer, watching live tracker and radar, yelling GO GO GO! at you guys, lol. When it was wrapping up I didn't think you guys were going to make it in time, but all's well that ends well:)
I would have liked to see live feed of your speedometer when you were heading north on 87 towards that thing... :)
Very nice pics, looks like you were in the right spot for that one! I notice though, there was no tornado report from around Dawson on the SPC storm reports page. Was it not called in?
Great shots guys! I was watching for a good chunk of the afternoon.
By the way, I added your site to my blog. If that is a problem, just shoot me an email and I'll take it down.
I hope all is well... Take care, Ryan
Oops... I put the wrong link. My bad
Reed,
Yeah I did notice that. If I remember right we were south/south west of the tornado on CR 828 near Sparenberg. We tried to drive a little more west so we could turn north and get closer but the roads wouldnt allow, we saw ya'll on 137 if I remember right...we were in the red dodge. My roads may be off, we took countless back roads.
I got some pretty nice video of that tornado yesterday southeast of Lamesa. I was on FM-26 just east of 137 looking back to the west and had a good view most of the time.
I'm on the road right now heading for Wichita for data stop.
