Winter storm warnings are currently in effect from Arkansas to Ontario, where up to foot of snow has already accumulated in many locations. A massive area of deformation zone snow extends from the Lower MS River Valley through upstate NY, with warm advection precip from there eastward.
This morning and early afternoon, 13 tornadoes touched down in southern GA and northern FL, with several homes damaged and 2 fatalities reported in Columbia Co, FL. These tornadic supercells occurred within a strong mesoscale convective system (MCS) ahead of a strong cold front moving slowly southeastward across the southeast US.

The unofficial SPC storm reports map for today is displayed below. The tornadoes producing significant damage were in north-central FL to the west of Jacksonville. While a tornado watch is still in effect across the central/southern FL Peninsula, it appears that the core of the LLJ has translated well north and east of the area, so only weak/brief tornadoes are anticipated tonight, if any at all.

Below are pictures from the winter storm in northern AR, that dumped up to 8 inches across the region. These pictures were taken by Heidi Farrar early this afternoon - she reported 7 inches of storm total snowfall in her area. If anyone else has pictures of this winter storm, please share them in the forum!

Niccccee Pictures Heidiiii
As said before, very nicely done Heidi!
There is a cell near white GA, it has 54 DBZ but with in about 30 min it could turn tornadic...
oh wow... I was way off lol. So far, we've had between 6 and 8 inches at my house, with a drift that is a foot deep. and it's still coming down!
I've got some pictures that show how deep it is, and it's really shocking. we usually don't see this kind of weather this far south, let alone in the middle of March!
Some areas in Southern Ontario could see upwards of 50 cm (20 inches) of snow by the time it ends on Sunday!
CONGRATS HEIDI!!! NICE PICS!!!! how's every1 doin around this ol hicktown, lol.
ttyl every1!
Beautiful winter scenes Heidi!
Cell E6 is bowing out! hail is possable!
Nice pictures to say the least. We have about 14in here in Fairfield County Ohio. Thunderstorm and heavy snow/sleet about 430am and still coming down like crazy. Will have pics for you in a while.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA CELL WITH 55 DBZ. AND A MESO NEAR ELK HILL!!!!! THAT IS CELL N0
Hey guys,
Very nice pictures Heidi!!!!! I love the second and the last one. Very nice scenery.
Yeah, the tight snow gradient solution paned out unfortunately. Oklahoma City didn't see a single flake! Hopefully we might get one more shot of snow before winter ends for good.
Up to 17 inches in parts of northern OH!

lol, wow, this is the most fun I've had in winter weather in forever! we had 7+ inches of snow in my area, so I got to make my first snowman in longer then I can remember lol.
I'll have pics soon, after I get feeling back in my fingers and toes :P
We have abkut 5" I just measured! Had a BIG snow ball fight. The snow is up to my ancles!!!
Looking like about 18+ inches here just south of Columbus, have hear reports of 22-24in. This thing on the backside gave us at least another 3-4in since 1pm. Now the drifts are 8 feet high and higher in places. Posted pics in the forum.
Wow all that snow!!!, And all I got was pea sized hail and a little thunderstorm, A friend and I were sitting on her deck it was 61 degrees, after the storm blew thur it went down to 39!
Blizzard conditions here in all the province of Quebec! sustain winds about 67km/h (41.63 mph) and gusts up to 90km/h (55.92 mh). Roads are closed because no emergency units will be able to go on an accident if needed... Here, in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, no Snow, just ice pellets and freezing rain but a few miles north, where my parents live, it snow. They have around 12 inches of snow in front of the house (it's an average because of the winds). They went outside for a walk. It was hard to walk because of the strong winds. I asked them to take a video. I will post it as soon as I can (it won't be before tomorrow because of power outage). We saw lightnings in the last hour. It's strange to have thunderstorm in winter! It's the second time this year...
Final total for Fairfield County 19.75in and drifts to 6ft high and some higher in places. Highest I have heard was 21in just north of Columbus. This one goes down for the ages.
Actually Caro, it is not that unusual to have thunderstorms in the winter. If there is enough instability in the atmosphere, lightning can occur.
STORM ALERT FOR WESTERN EUROPE. 100MPH WIND GUSTS AND 70% CHANGE OF DISRUPTION IN LONDON! IRELAND WILL BARE THE BRUNT OF THE STORM. STAY TUNED
The tornado that struck Douglas County Ga - 20 miles wet of Atlanta - around 7:30 pm yesterday has a preliminary rating of EF1 according to the NWS in Peachtree City, GA. The area was NOT under a tornado watch when the tornado struck. The Kroger grocery store, two miles from my parents house, suffered moderate dammage to the roof and large refrigeration unit was blown off the roof. The store has yet to reopen.
Thanks for the comments on the photos; I just got a new lens this week (Sigma 17-70mm), thanks to a strong recommendation by Dick M. It's fantastic! :D
doesnt suprise me one bit Heidi,,,,,Dick M is a Pro! and an absolute (golden) god ,,,to me... =)
Wow Jim , I saw that tornado warning on radar.....it looked less then nothing! amazing! makes you wonder how many tornadoes go unnoticed.
Wanna have an idea of what's going on here???

it's live so there's pub...
at 4:35 they talk about the storm
It's crazy in Ottawa. Environment Canada claims 40-50 cm fresh snow in Ottawa as of 11 pm (I think this excludes the ~ 15 cm last night) with an additional 15-20 cm by the time it is over. We also got 29 cm last Wednesday. So, as of morning, we will have gotten something between 85-115 cm (34-46 inch) since Wednesday. The last time I shoveled (Wed) my snowbanks were 5-10 feet high.
The webcam of parliament hill says it all:
