A high risk has now been issued for eastern GA into central SC for the threat of long-track supercells and damaging tornadoes. Several cyclic supercells have already developed across northern GA into western SC, with additional explosive development anticipated along and east of the SW to NE convective line. 8 tornadoes have already been reported across northern GA, with several homes damaged. However, that number will likely triple before the day is over. Stay tuned for updates!

We've got a PDS now people!
Dang those storms just keep growing!
*pounds head against brick wall*
bah... I'm so bored out here. I hope whoever is out there is getting some great footage!
Tornado Watch boxes now extend up in southern North Carolina - near Fayetteville. Storms moving from South Carolina up into North Carolina now.
The couplet on the cell just east of the Carolina border is a MONSTER.

Link to todays possible tornado in Atlanta
These are some rather large supercells. A good majority if not all the storms are showing rotation.
The guy on Channel 10 in Columbia hasn't even mentioned the word "supercell" or a deriviative thereof yet...
OK, now he has.
And Orangeburg County is about to get f'd.
Does anyone else find it kind of ironic/funny that Orangeburg had a possibly big tornado go through? Maybe something in the name...
Can anyone tell me how the city of Charleston, SC might fair in all of this? I have a friend down there, but can't seem to get ahold of her, and the NOAA radar keeps cutting out on me.
For a good link with live coverage from Charleston, SC

Thanks!
Impressive looking storm heading toward Charleston. Yea Ive been watching Live5 for some quite time.
They are showing reflectivity there is got to be one on the ground. Impressive hook echo near Ravenel and Hollywood.
I live out here close to Fayettville. Got some terrific lighting shots but nothing special. However I have a buddy of mine closer to Sanford NC who saw a Tornado touchdown. Pretty intense storm, just not where I was =[

Rome, GA Tornado dammage
Reed , what about tomarrow's risk area. I am starting to like this set up.
Hey Jason...Yeah we like South Texas right now...probably west of Austin somewhere. But if the shear looks better further north then we won't go south.
I am looking at west of Dallas at this time , I feel we may have a moderate risk come out on this. The SPC is moveing the 30% area futher north so I will make my mind up in morning . But I will chase this one.
My dad and I WILL chase after seeing the new SPC outlook. We like the I20 corridor where the dryline looks at its best and CAPE is good on either side of the interstate in case we need to head south or north. I agree with a small moderate tomorrow for hail at the least. I'm getting excited now! LOL
I finally got 3 days off and plan to chase Monday. Can't wait! Im looking to head out of Lubbock in the morn!
So ive been noticing alot of action south of me (Omaha Nebraska) any idea when i will get some of the action?
Hey Blake - I'm down in KC and I think it's too cold here yet for anything exciting to happen just yet. They seem to be looking at the West Texas area for the action tomorrow. We can stay tuned on this website! But, I don't think our general area is due for action for awhile yet - several weeks perhaps. It's not supposed to get out of the 50's all this week down here and the dew point has to be higher and the weather warmer for anything to begin forming. But, I'm waiting for it too!!!
Good Evening,
I have evacuated the Dallas area pending the tornado outbreak (Ok, So Im on Vacation in Hot Springs, AR). I have the live camera up at www.saturdayaftermath.com, with me keeping the desktop up via a remote desktop connection. Should be interesting, Nice not having to deal with this, as my house is only a mile south of I 20
The Atlanta tornado got me thinking. I was just wondering how the frequency of tornado formation varies the closer you get to the east coast. For example is a tornado within 1o miles of the coast 50 x rarer than one 100 miles inland? I'm just making those numbers up but hopefully someone can put it into perspective for me. I always thought of them as a primarily inland phenomenon. [of course I know they occur at sea sometimes too]
Let me furnish my previous question with another one. Does the risk area plot shown at the top of this thread imply there is a moderate risk of a tornado at sea (ie - if one extrapolated the area)? Just wondering what I'd be thinking if I was planning to go out boating in such an area..
Smudge,
I live along the Gulf Coast, and there is quite a bit of "marine layer" influence when it comes to severe weather. In my area, larger tornadoes are generally found inland, but not all of the time. There was a large tornado offshore a few years ago that would have easily been ranked an F2 or higher.
As for the SPC outlook above, I'm not sure you could assume the lines extend into the water to make a complete circle. I suppose SPC leaves that up to the local NWS offices to issue a "small craft advisory" or other warnings for boaters.

This is a pretty cool slideshow showing the tornado that hit Atlanta and also some action from Saturday. In the last 2 photos, how would you like to be sitting in one of those planes just waiting on the runway while the storm sits there.
