Here are damage photos from the violent wedge tornado that devastated Zion, AR, courtesy of local resident Heidi Farrar.  The damage path of this tornado reached a width of nearly a mile at times, with early rating estimates of EF3 to EF4 at the hardest hit areas.  According to Heidi, the tornado must have lifted slightly at times, since only tree tops are damaged in certain areas.

Sadly, the death toll has now reached 54 from this event, making it the deadlest tornado outbreak in the United States in the last 20 years.  There are many incredible survivor stories, including a Union College student in Jackson, TN who was trapped under a massive concrete slab after being sucked out of the dorm by the violent tornado.

Wow Heidi... I can't think of any words to describe this...

On the third one down, you can see part of the tornado's path... it must have been huge..

I don't think I'll ever be happy to see a HIGH risk day again :(

That's what I'm thinking!! Again Excellent work Heidi!! It's a tough game, but someones gotta play it!! ( I don't mean chasing storms is games)!! I'm sure you all would agree that when we wish for storms, we don't wish for this kinda destruction!! For the photography and journalism part, I definitely give ya High five 10x!! But I do feel really bad for your close people that have to deal with this!! Thanx again for busting your ass Heidi!!

It is hard to believe that such and outbreak has hit in the middle of winter.

It gets me thinking about how bad it will get here in Canada during spring and summer.

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By SKgirl | February 7, 2008 @ 2:02 AM #

*Sending hugs for Heidi*. :(

Mike I agree with you, if things are looking like this in the US now, ad if we're having such extreme winters, what in the world are our summers/spring going to be like?!

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Jake (in TN) | February 7, 2008 @ 2:07 AM #

Yeah, but I think it might be mostly over the eastern area, we're due for someting, it's been a year or so since we've had a bad year I think.

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Jake (in TN) | February 7, 2008 @ 2:16 AM #

Also, I'm going to talk to my dad about going out to help with the cleanup. so I may be able to bring back a few picks, as well as help out some of these people.

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Brady from Duluth MN | February 7, 2008 @ 2:20 AM #

Some of the people in this country/ Countries need a wake up call about this kinda weather (especially in this town)... but this is a lil drastic!! With severe weather on the rise like it has been really makes me appreciate folks who take time to follow storms and to document them as best as they can! It makes it feel more worth while for me to chase storms too!! Especially when me people say to me " you drive around and look at clouds??"

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By mike R from Alberta | February 7, 2008 @ 2:22 AM #

I personally think that it may be 2C warmer than last year for my area at least. I am predicting a Avg high temp for july of 27-29C(81-85F) for my town.
July 2007: 27.6C(81F)
July 2006: 26.1C(78F)
July 2005: 23.8C(74F)
July 2004: 22.7C(72F)
July 2003: 24.6C(76F)
July 2002: 25.9C(78F)
July 2001: 23.5C(74F)
July 2000: 23.7C(75F)
Average is 22.3C(72F)
I can see a warming trend of 1C every year for the last 3 years or so.
And we have not seen below normal July at all this century

2002: 26.3
2000: 24.2

The biggest change in my town is the Lightning strikes have more than doubled in the last 5 years, We now get 5-10 Severe T-storm warnings a year. before 2000 we had only 3 or 4

Giving the changes in my climate. The tornadoes will follow

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Brady from Duluth MN | February 7, 2008 @ 2:38 AM #

The last few summers have been quite hot and dry here!!Lake Superior has been really low causing minor shipping troubles!!I've been noticing quite warmer surface temps later in the season too!! our winters have been a lil strange too!! Last year we hardly had any snow at all til early March when we had back to back blizzards!! This years has been pretty lame too!! 38" of snow in December, 2.8 in January!! wtf??

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By mike R from Alberta | February 7, 2008 @ 2:48 AM #

Funny here only one year(2002) was dry. 3 of the past 7 years were wetter.

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Brady from Duluth MN | February 7, 2008 @ 2:56 AM #

We had brown grass all summer!! When we finally did get rain in late September and early October it was too late for the grass to green up! We had tons of grasshoppers! I have never seen so many!! when you walked through the grass, they would scatter everywhere!! it was weird!!

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By M.Case | February 7, 2008 @ 3:24 AM #

Wow, its sad. Hopefully our studies will help more and our dedication to these beasts of nature to save more lives.
To those now and in the future and past who's lives have been forever changed, I pray for thee.

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By mike R from Alberta | February 7, 2008 @ 3:24 AM #

Lol we had a ton of grasshoppers in 2002. We had dust storms before the greening up, the whole summer was a write off for camping, fire ban all summer. 2003 was dry but only for summer. So 2002 and 2003 were bad years for camping.
sure it was hot and sunny but Camping has to be with the fire, or it is just a picnic.

Wow...

Had trouble getting work done today; I was keeping track of all the updates while they were rolling in.

Heidi... thanks for providing these pictures. They're a sobering reminder of what these storms are capable of. I'm glad your friends pulled through, and hope that getting back on their feet is as quickly as possible. It's also important to hear the story through a friend of the victim instead of it being filtered through and adultered by the national media.

Mike... I began to worry about this year myself for the coming tornado season up here in Canada. I was chatting with one of the forecasters who was on the desk the day of the May 31st, 1985 outbreak (which is now the most recent precedent to Tuesday's event in terms casualties). One of the things he mentioned was that one of the ingredients lacking in the last 20 odd years for a major outbreak in eastern Canada was an abundance of intense synoptic lows to provide the large scale dynamics for an outbreak.

What scares me is that we've had several of these lows recently, some less than a week apart. Return flow from these storms has brought record high temps, and I'm not sure how many times these systems have been described with the terms "unusually large warm sector". If this pattern continues, the Great Lakes area could be in for a ride this spring.

As an aside, we should try to remember that this *is* the time of year we should be expecting violent tornadoes in the deep south (Louisiana, for example, generally sees its F4s in December, January and February). *But*, this usually refers to the states bordering right on the Gulf. An event in February 1971 (on the 21st, I think) did have significant tornadoes as far north as TN, but the long-track, violent ones stayed in central Mississippi. So I'm still on the fence as to how significant this year's events have been as far as northward encroachment.

So lets hope that these systems at least slow their pace this year. I am one of the biggest tornado fanatics around, but we've already had the deadliest outbreak in over two decades. I think that's enough for one season.

Heidi shocking pics. It reminds u that nobody can control mother nature.

Newscahnnel 10 in amarillo had the following article. It seems like its not going to be a active season for the panhandles this year. What do you guys think?

"The La Nina weather phenomenon may have an impact on this year's tornado season. That is according to forecasters at the National Weather Service in Amarillo.

Meteorologists tell us we may not experience the active season like what we had last year. They say during the la nina pattern, we usually have fewer tornadoes. But we still could be surprised.

Steve Drillette, of NWS, says "La Nina is weakening a bit so we could be more active later in the spring if the trend continues."

They warn one outbreak is all it takes to cause major destruction. Drillette says "we don't want people to let their guard down....any bad storm could be devastating and dangerous."

On average, our area sees about 21 tornadoes during the season. The weather service expects that many or fewer this season. "

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Ez | February 7, 2008 @ 6:10 AM #

I don't know...I think it's really kind of hard to make an accurate prediction of how the season will shape out. One thing I know for sure is that we have had 3 relatively major outbreaks(middle october, beginning of january the 7th? and of course yesterday/two days ago). These have all been kinda unprecedented...especially the january one. I would be extremely shocked if we didnt have several big-major events in texas/plains area in the next couple months. and honestly i would expect at least one more big event in the south east...you can't forget that florida has similar amounts of tornadoes than oklahoma. I am not basing this on anything but the mere fact that ive lived in this area all my life and there havent really been too many "off" years. I just hope to be correct for this year

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Corey0007 | February 7, 2008 @ 8:54 AM #

its hard to think that something so beautiful could do so much damage!!!

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Henri | February 7, 2008 @ 9:01 AM #

I agree EZ. I have limited knowlege on all of this. How do they predict that thats the effect that La Nina have? How do whe know that it wouldent be even worst than the last year, that we will see even more tornadoes. I personaly think their wrong I dont have anything to base it on but the 3 years i lived there There was always tornadoes close or in the region..

thanks EZ what you said makes sence to me.

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Stephanie | February 7, 2008 @ 10:40 AM #

wow, can't quite describe the pictures other than powerful. Glad you are okay Heidi and my prayers are with you.

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Heidi | February 7, 2008 @ 11:25 AM #

Thanks, everyone, for your thoughts and prayers. I'm about to go back over to our friends (*can't use apostrophe on the end of a word or it says there is a tag) place in a little bit with some baked goods. They're really good people and I will be sure to tell them you all are thinking of them.

I am finding more stuff on and around our property; pieces of pine trees (we don't have pines in our neighborhood; these had to have come from the tornado), a page torn from a book, and a large torn shingle in our orchard. I'm sure there is a lot more I haven't found yet.

At our friends place they used white gallon-sized buckets for blueberry picking. There were hundreds of these buckets at their farm, and now there are only a couple visible. We were talking yesterday and think it would be kinda cool if I found some of their buckets up here! :)

Does anyone know how to go about getting some of the interviews or videos, or something like what they've had on the news stations on my computer for video edditing?
I'm thinking about making a video about all this with a bunch on info and everything in it, but I'm not sure how to get my hands on the video I need.
(and sorry if I sound insensitive about this, but I'm thinking I can use this to help raise awareness, or at least put it into perspective for the peolpe who were excluded from the most severe things this time)

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Volker | February 7, 2008 @ 12:07 PM #

Heidi cheer up! I have never expirienced such a devastation, but I can imagine how bad it is for the people who are affected by this catastrophe.
This event shows the importance of storm spotters/chasers. The reports are an fundamental element of the warning system and everybody who is able to report severe weather (without risking his own life!!) should do that.
Best wishes!

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Matt | February 7, 2008 @ 12:07 PM #

Words can't describe those pictures. My thoughts and prayers go out to everybody how lost there lives and there family members that day.

I feel kinda bad for getting so excited for the high risk knowing that there was going to be damaging tornadoes and that lives would be lost.

On an other note Reed i have that video from like 3 days ago or so from the snow storm that we got almost 7 or 8 inches still wondering if you wanted the video.

For those of you who haven't heard, NWS is now saying that the storm which ravaged areas around the Nashville area, killing 21 people so far, was in fact a single tornado, making it the single deadliest tornado even in Middle Tennessee in 75 years, and the deadliest single tornado in the USA since the Evansville Tornado of 2005.

CNN was showing the damage in some of the hardest hit areas this morning. In Alabama, they were showing one area ravaged, where a house was levelled with 3 people killed, where the entire roof was thrown well over 100 yards, in tact, into a tree, with some of the items from the house thrown several hundred yards beyond that. It's just crazy to see the sheer power of mother nature....

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By SKgirl | February 7, 2008 @ 2:25 PM #

I still can't believe the vast differences in weather. I mean sure, you're in the US, and this is Canada, but really now. You're talking about 70s and 80s weather and tornadoes, and this is what I have today. How could it be possible and different?? Maybe i'm just imagining things but I dont ever remember it being this way..

Winter storm watch for: City of Regina
Issued at 10:29 AM CST THURSDAY 7 FEBRUARY 2008
STRONG WINDS AND REDUCED VISIBILITIES IN BLOWING SNOW ARE POSSIBLE ON FRIDAY. THE POTENTIAL FOR SEVERE WINTER WEATHER EXISTS OVER THESE REGIONS.
AN ALBERTA CLIPPER WILL MOVE INTO SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN FRIDAY AFTERNOON. ALTHOUGH ONLY A COUPLE OF CENTIMETRES OF FRESH SNOW IS EXPECTED...STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS GUSTING UP TO 70 KM/H WILL GIVE REDUCED VISIBILITIES OF NEAR ZERO IN BLOWING SNOW IN THE WAKE OF THIS SYSTEM ESPECIALLY IN AREAS SOUTH OF THE YELLOWHEAD HIGHWAY. THE NORTHWESTERLY WINDS WILL ALSO PUSH VERY COLD ARCTIC AIR OVER THE AREA PRODUCING EXTREME WIND CHILL VALUES. THIS IS A DEVELOPING SYSTEM AND IT'S EXACT TRACK AND TIMING IS STILL SOMEWHAT UNCERTAIN AT THIS TIME. WARNINGS MAY BE ISSUED THIS EVENING ONCE THE SYSTEM DEVELOPS OVER ALBERTA. A WINTER STORM WATCH IS AN ALERT OF THE POTENTIAL DEVELOPMENT OF SEVERE WINTER WEATHER. PERSONS IN OR NEAR THESE AREAS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR DEVELOPING ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS AND SHOULD LISTEN FOR UPDATED WATCHES AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

It is quite nice seeing that somebody in your hometown shares the same interest as you. Besides, everybody knows that the forecasters at TV.net are 10x better at predicting severe weather in all of North America than the national agencies (especially environment canada....who said that the storms which produced the Elie tornado outbreak were a complete surprise even though Reed had predicted them 2 weeks in advance and even had time to drive up here to catch them...)

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Brady from Duluth MN | February 7, 2008 @ 3:07 PM #

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Brady from Duluth MN | February 7, 2008 @ 3:17 PM #

Well my new place is quite nice!! If I glance to the left i see a lil deer eating some brush in the back, and if I stand up and look out the window above my computer I see a lil bunny nibbling away!! I can get used to this!! So much for my gardening Ideas!! At least I don't see any armadillo's!! lol

I hope Heidi got a lil rest last night! I don't think I could sleep after experiencing that hell!!

So many people on here within a fairly short drive of me. Brady, you are about 9 hours. Sk and Evan, you are about the same, although in the opposite direction.

We all need to meet up on a chase at some point.

I can tell you one thing: If we see a situation like was seen in Manitoba last year happen this summer, I will most definitely be taking time off work to go and follow. I have always wanted to see a tornado.....(in open land, away from houses preferrably).

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Strike | February 7, 2008 @ 4:43 PM #

I used to think that 9 hours was a long drive, but after missing a couple of crazy storms (Northwood ND in particular) I don't mind driving a little longer.

I think if you ask Reed about number of hours on the road to chase a storm, 9 will be pretty low.

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By justin | February 7, 2008 @ 4:59 PM #

it is a long time but proubly very little when storm chasing lol but right now i am in normal driving so that is a long time

Nice Heidi! The countys north and south of me were hit by tornadoes. both EF-1 They didn't say anything about me but I think we got hit by a spinup. 17 countys in my state were hit by tornadoes. the biggest tornado was an EF-3 near the TN bordor.

Guys, i know you don't wanna hear this, but I think another outbreak looms in the future for next wednesday... Only this time it is the southeasts turn.

I hope this changes!! NOT AGAIN!!!

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By SKgirl | February 7, 2008 @ 6:36 PM #

Yeah Evan, we should hit up a chase together, if anything happens before the end of April that is lol (I plan to find work around home, not in the city here). That would be so cool!!
Brady should just make a round trip, and pick up strike on the way ;)

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Matt | February 7, 2008 @ 6:49 PM #

Ya Zack I agree I think next Wednesday in the Southeast looks amazing for severe weather.

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Brady from Duluth MN | February 7, 2008 @ 7:04 PM #

Yeah Strike!! Northwood ND!! Exactly what I mean!! I was targeting Grand Forks That day too! I remember deciding to save gas and wait til the next day to chase!! Half the reason I didn't chase was cuz I didn't have enough people to talk to on the chase!! I'll make sure to swap cellphone #'s with who ever wants too! I have a good long distance plan (when i pay my bill. lol) I'll try to help nowcast when I have time too!! Just ask!!

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Jake (in TN) | February 7, 2008 @ 7:09 PM #

Southeast meaning the same area as the last one?
if we're talking the TN area, I can't make up my mind weather to look forward to it, or to dread it :/

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Strike | February 7, 2008 @ 7:41 PM #

Brady, I'm totally game for nowcasting too. We will definitely work that out soon.

Sk, I would consider driving south if there is another high or even moderate risk with enough warning. You and Evan make your way here and Brady could meet up with us in Fargo or Minneapolis and we could all pile in my suburban.

As bad as everything has been over the last couple of days, I am still really excited to go chasing this spring and summer. Or next week...

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By smt | February 7, 2008 @ 8:34 PM #

I am glad you are OK, Heidi. But sometimes it is harder to see one of your friends suffer. My thoughts are with you and your friends. We are buried in snow here in Michigan and complaining constantly - your photos put our whining in perspective. How sad for your friends.

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By tim Duluth MN | February 7, 2008 @ 8:51 PM #

Brady count me in on all this too. My brother was talking to me last Sunday and said he would like to try to get down more into Southern MN this Spring/Summer to chase, say around Mankato, New Ulm, that area seems to be a hot bed for severe weather. I would love to chase out in the Dakotas! I know that high risk day last June my brother and I were planning on going to South Dakota, but we didn't, and we were disappointed the next day..

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Brady from Duluth MN | February 7, 2008 @ 8:54 PM #

That should work good for me Strike!! I would like to try to avoid the Twin Cities traffic if at all possible, but otherwise I have no problem with that!! Sounds like Tim is gearing up for some chasing too!! This should be a big help for us and the other chasers in these parts!! I have a few other chaser to contact too so we should be able to get info on the road too!!

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Brady from Duluth MN | February 7, 2008 @ 8:59 PM #

Lol!! Speak of the devil!! lol I have no prob going through the TC area, just not good chasing in that area!! but I aint affraid!! hehe
Sounds like we've got our area covered!! Plus we have one thing other chasers don't!! Reed & Co.!! Couldn't be any better for us!!

I still need to find a Skywarn class soon!!

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By tim Duluth MN | February 7, 2008 @ 9:04 PM #

The damage survey for our area has not yet been released; thanks for posting that stuff, though, PB.

I am pretty sure that President Bush and/or Gov. Beebe toured this area today from the air. There was a helicopter circling over Zion this morning.

I can't even look at the models right now. I don't have time to begin with ... right now I'm taking a break from filling our saved milk jugs (we recycle) with water so our friends will have water to clean & wash their hands with. Other friends about a mile away (who were not affected by damage) have not had electricity since the storm hit, and have been using our outdoor pump.

A chaser from the Tulsa, OK area contacted me today. He is a youth pastor at a church there, and they wanted to do something to help the more rural communities. He & I corresponded several times today and I made another trip to the damage path to see what was needed; the result is that they are coming to Zion and Sage, AR on Saturday with a relief truck. An awesome gesture by the chase community; thanks Jeff.

A chaser that's also a youth pastor? Sounds like my kind of guy... maybe I'll get to meet him someday ;) What a great gesture, I like it.

As long as we're on the Skywarn subject, I think they'll be having classes in my area sometime in March. Dick McGowan, of Greensburg infamy, and other chasers will also be hosting a charity evening for Greensburg residents in Pratt, KS.

once again we see early Tornados in the US I predict we are going to have yet another violent summer in Alberta aye.

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Kenny | February 8, 2008 @ 12:32 AM #

Yes I agree Kain..Everything looks perfect for an intense season here in Alberta this Summer. I'm really excited..3 more months until Storm Season! I have everything I need, except for one of the most needed..A Bike. Can't make a Bike Chasing Movie if theres no Bikes involved..

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Brady from Duluth MN | February 8, 2008 @ 12:54 AM #

That is something Jim!! I can't believe that lil guy lived through it!! Maybe he'll grow up to be a famous chaser!!
I have a feeling we'll be meeting up with you down there!! Can hardly wait for chasing season! We don't need this kinda destruction in Minny though! My senses which I don't really have says we're due!!

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By tim Duluth MN | February 8, 2008 @ 1:12 AM #

Brady, my brother says the samething as you about being due for a big one here in Minnesota..But then again he said that last Summer-lol. But he always tells me about the tornadoes of 1967, at least i think that was the year? But, apparantly there were several strong tornadoes close to Duluth one day that Summer-i believe in August of '67. He wasn't alive then, but i guess he's found archived stories relating to this tornado outbreak that occurred up here in NE MN that year

Here's a page I found last summer!!

http://www.crh.noaa.gov/dlh/science/event_archive/arrowhead/arrowhead_svr.php

my mom was telling me about a particular strom aroun 67 er so!! There was also I big flood back in the mid 70's or sometime around then!! My Great Granny's house on 6th ave E and 10th was fine but around it was washed out really bad!!

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Brady from Duluth MN | February 8, 2008 @ 1:36 AM #

We just need a big harmless spout over the lake!! That's my tornado wish!! A nice long elephant trunk to That would wake this town up!! Touch down in the bay and blow across southern Park Point (where there is no houses) and travel straight out!! One of my buddies reminded me of a funnel down there a few years back! we were in my 16ft fishing boat on the lake and pilled into Barkers Island to take refuge!! I'm pretty sure it didn't touch down, but there was a really cloud rotating fast and the wind got really strong for a short period! From what I could see from my low vantage point behind the island it looked only maybe 3 or 400ft from the surface!!

thanks for the link Brady, yea it was 1969 then, it's pretty cool to read about that stuff, i mean i've been out chasing around those areas so many times in the past..have had pretty good chases up around the Lake Winni area

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By tim Duluth MN | February 8, 2008 @ 1:43 AM #

yea we need a big storm here in this city Brady. I thought the SPC did an amazing job with that high risk tornado event a few days ago.. Now, compare that high risk to the one we had around this area last June, hmm i think they busted big time that day! I know there were a couple tornadoes over in Wisconsin, but no where near the amount of severe reports to justify a high risk..

Ahhh tomorrow evening gonna be -20 C with blowing snow, feel like -35 C...and overnight -30 C but with windchill -48 C!!! :O

Wow...i just got done looking at 00z GFS run from lastnite, awaiting the 12z run. But i don't like, what i am seeing, with some of the same area's possibly under the gun again. Lil Further west this time...but this is far out, i and i would believe we may see the models, tend to slow it down with time.

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Kain_Dragoon | February 8, 2008 @ 10:42 AM #

heya Reed just wondering why u didnt chase any of these. Had a few there and there that u probably could have. Not that i'm ripping on ya for just wondering is all.

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Jake (in TN) | February 8, 2008 @ 10:51 AM #

You mean for next Wesday Ben? if you are, how far west are we talking? AR/MO area? or into TN?

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By MynameisBen | February 8, 2008 @ 10:58 AM #

Jake Western TN could get in on the action, on Wednesday, but the worse looks to be down toward E. TX and W. Louisiana. Take a look at the models yourself, and see what you think...

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Jake (in TN) | February 8, 2008 @ 11:11 AM #

Yeah, I think (by some mirracle) I see what you're talking about... it'll be interesting to see how things start to play out that's for sure!

http://www.ral.ucar.edu/weather/model/displayMod.php?var=gfs_sfc_prcp&hours=hr108hr120hr132hr144

Thats the precipitation for cast for that period, some of the winds look good also, i dont know where donny and reed, and other get the projected cape, amounts from, but i wish i did, some of the winds also look ideal for a Severe Weather outbreak i believe...

I'm sure Donny and Reed, will have a more put together report on this prospect soon.

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Jake (in TN) | February 8, 2008 @ 11:33 AM #

Yeah... Is that another system building on the Thursday forecast? if it is, it looks like it's in the right place to give west/middle TN some more action. That is if it's not just rain on the backside of the first one.

Damage pictures from the Zion, AR tornado Comment Posted By Mynameisben | February 8, 2008 @ 12:11 PM #

Jake i am not sure, but i just got done taking a look at alot of the winds, and winds, seem to be moderate strength...some pockets of higher winds...If i had to put a spot for tornadoes on it right now, i'd be in E Tx/ W Louisiana, but i'm not sure...plus its so far out. But i do see veering winds up toward TN, in the same time frame of the precipitation forecast i showed earlier.

Note: i am at work sorry for lapse in response time.
