Tornadoes likely south, winter storm to the north!

A potent shortwave trough is currently moving through the Great Lakes Region, with a strong trailing cold front extending southwestward toward the Central Gulf Coast.  Deep tropical moisture has been advected as far north as central AL, with dewpoints in the low 60s along the Gulf Coast.  While storms have been exhibiting mainly linear structure so far, there have been areas of rotation indicated within embedded supercells in the line, and also with storms out ahead of the front.  Three tornado watches are in effect for Southern Louisiana and Alabama, and also the Florida Peninsula.   Winter storm warnings are also in effect for much of New England, where over a foot of snow could fall especially over the higher elevations.

A strong low-level jet has developed to the east of the low-level cyclone, with the strongest 850 mb winds north of the deep moisture across Tennessee and Kentucky.  Further south, where the deeper moisture resides,  the low-level jet is generally below 40 knots, but still sufficient for brief tornadoes.  The 18z RUC Analyses for mslp and 850 mb are shown below.

It has become a busy day down south and an even busier day in the North trying to dig out from the snow.

I am under the same snowfall warning. 10-15cm locally for my area southeast of Edmonton.

If it comes before dark then i will film it.
I live on a dark street and my camcorder HATES the dark.

It is a reliable camera but i have used cheap $300 walmart brand camcorders that has better night vision

does not look like it will snow before dark if it snows at all.

They may drop the warning for
Drayton Valley - Devon - Rimbey - Pigeon Lake

There is not a single radar echo over that area.
The snow is staying east of the QE2

Dale:
Go south of Millet Temp shoots up to -5C no snow and very little up wind on the radar. It looks like the snow is way way farther north than predicted.
That now puts my area in a dry spot with a thiner snow pack.

My snowfall predictions based on Radar and past knowledge.

North of Edmonton: snow all night 15-25cm
Edmonton: Snow all night 10-15cm
Leduc: Snow all night 5-10cm
Wetaskiwin: Snow all night 5cm
Camrose: snow all night 5-10 Cm
Red Deer: 40% chance of snow 1-3cm

Based on the radar maps
http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/radar/index_e.html?id=WHK

As of 7:00pm There is no real snow near red deer
There is some snow building SW ans S of Edmonton
Drayton Valley - Devon - Rimbey - Pigeon Lake
Leduc - Camrose - Wetaskiwin - Tofield
Will get loads of snow but nowhere near the amount in Edmonton and north

Unless the snow explodes into development southwest of Edmonton the snowfall in these area will be much lower than Edmonton

A heavy snow band just came into my town
Popcorn size flakes.
It seems to by moving very slow.
Looks like we are in for quite the contrast of snowfall from town to town.

It was a busy afternoon along the Central Gulf Coast. We had wind gust over 70 mph along Dauphin Island with widespread power outages. Here is a look at some wind damage: http://www.wkrg.com/news/article/strong_storms_left_damage_behind/10247/
Obviously it's minor compared to the Super Tuesday outbreak.
