With the onset of winter and the end of the fall storm chasing season, we have many exciting new plans for TornadoVideos.net to make it more of a community-involved site, and to increase the value of our website to the public. Any suggestions on potential products we could implement in the future would be much appreciated. Here are some of the features we have in the works:
Member-based chat feature: This will happen soon!
Spotter training page: Educate new storm chasers and weather enthusiasts on supercell storm structure, severe weather forecasting.
Weather education page: Provide educational modules on all topics related to meteorology, including severe weather, tropical meteorology, climatology, and forecasting. These could include video modules, pod-casts, etc.
Weekly photo/video submission page: Have a photo-sharing page where contributors can share their weather photography and comment on others.
Live, high-quality streaming video: We've been working on a way to implement broadcast-quality, live video streaming for awhile. Our plan is to have this up and running by next season.
Storm store: Web-based store with videos, photos, t-shirts, coffee mugs, etc for sale, as well as donations to natural disaster charity.
Professional video intros: Here is a video clip, showing the temporary video intro we've created. Our plan is to add intros to our video that our much more professional looking, and a bit more concise.
I also want to test out Metacafe, a new video-submission site similar to Youtube, with the clips below.

Hey Brady. Ya, its warm in Winnipeg too. Apparently the warm front of air mass or whatever is pulling in moisture from TD 10 in the south...so humid maybe tomorrow. Good for me cause I may be goin fishin at around midnight tonight..so not too cold. Perfect weather for the end off Summer I say!

Here's some news about that suprise storm in fargo thursday night. Luckily The huge hail just missed us.
Got a beautiful squall coming down right now. It's absolutely pouring cold rain while off in other directions it looks nice. Almost like Springtime.

Dude, it was amazing watching that stuff high in the sky go rolling over Duluth like that! What does the average citizen (who doesn't watch radar) think when that's going on? Ho hum, lookit, clouds in the sky, so what? That was awesome... we simply don't get that around here.

All of that sounds awesome - a lot of really exciting ideas & possibilities to go along with them! - Don't forget tv.net mousepads. Mine looks pretty disgusting and I need a new one, but I'll hold out until I can get one from the tv.net store! ;)
And please, do NOT change the music! :D I think you come across as a more serious opperation if you keep the classical theme going. Using more contemporary/popular music is more likely to alienate certain demographics, and/or could cause people who view the videos to unfairly lump tv.net into a "this is just a gen-X thing" category or something. If nothing else, I think it has to stay instrumental ... but that's just my opinion! :D

True Heidi, but I'm not campaigning for pop or rap music. What about jazz and other stuff? I just think classical comes off as a little chilly and disconnected sometimes. But hey... who cares? It's the video that does the talking! And not everyone will agree with me anyway!

Hey there Reed. Great ideas for the site. Just a couple of thoughts - perhaps only have one copyright TVnet logo on the video footage, too much overkill detracts from the actual reason people want to do - view the footage!
Also maybe a change in music - classical is a good choice but perhaps more dramatic strings and a bit slower. It gives the feel of impending storms or drama! either that or a compilation of fast paced rock Linkin Park and Metallica!!! Short snippets of say 5 seconds each with chase music - in fact there's a thought, why don't you put together a CD to chase to? The adrenelin is already pumping, why not pump out chase music whilst doing it!!!

I didn't even hear a single tornado siren on my trip Thursday!
Man that sound sends chills though me!! our good old school solid tone sirens!! Man I miss that sound!! the last time we were tornado warned most of the sirens failed to sound! I think 18! and the worst part of it was it was the first Wednesday of the month which is when they test em here @ 1pm! the storm was around 4 though, but people here don't think!!

One reason I keep using classical is it's easier to get royalty free...I'd be worried about copyright violations if I used more current music. Great ideas Mike...I thought the logos might have been a bit overkill.
Hey guys I just got back from a random firework shoot off! I just finished uploading the videos to my computer, I'll show you guys them in a minute!
Here's the vid of the rain shaft in the distances! at least I think it's a rain shaft??? If anyone can mess with this and brighten it up a lil you'll see what I'm talking about! It looked like a wedge!

TD 10 sure pissed me off... It landfalled too quickly. Its remnants are still forecast to hit me by tomorrow, but because it was so weak all of its tornado potential is pretty much gone... :(

MIAMI - Subtropical Storm Jerry formed Sunday in the Atlantic Ocean, the National Hurricane Center said, but posed no immediate threat to land.

Brady, I am going to watch your slide show but it takes forever to load. I almost always have a hard time seeing your vids with the photobucket video player because they buffer funny - like, you can't hit pause and let it sit for a few minutes and then come back and it's all ready to go (like you can on YouTube). At least that's been my experience. :) Anyway, just wanted you to know that I'm planning on watching ...

need that low level jet to bring in that moisture into manitoba so the storms can be more surface based instead of high based. cold air on the surface from that cold front will just elevate those storms. wish i still lived in winnipeg...only for today though haha
Welcome back Tim. Severe weather today here! If I were to guess where storms will form, I'd guess anywhere East of Portage La Prairie in Southern Manitoba has a better chance. Clouds seem to be inhibiting the severe potential to the west, so not likely there.

Hey Jonathan! Yeah I've been busy with the start of courses haha. They had some nice pictures of the wall cloud from the rogue cell that went through just before 7 this morning. Wish I had of actually gotten out of bed to check it.. didn't seem -that- bad at the time haha
Tim Jacobs - (if you read this) yeah, you can pretty much guarantee that from September-February, every weekend in the US is going to be almost non-stop football. Friday night is high school, Saturdays is college and Sunday is the NFL. There are also college games on Thursdays sometimes and on Monday night is a big NFL prime-time game. So yeah, it's football season in the US! :D
