The GFS model has been consistently hinting at a Western U.S. trough developing during the middle to late part of next week.  This could be the start of the Central/Southern Plains fall severe weather season, but the most recent GFS run now forecasts a cut-off system over the Southwest Rockies.  Still though, this cut-off system will likely move eastward with time, bringing increased chances for chase-able setups!

We always get a second Severe Weather season here in Ohio in October and November. Last year we had an F2 in New Albany and a million dollar hail storm in middle October and of course the huge tornado outside of Defiance Ohio was in November as well as the Circleville tornado which I saw form and move close to my house in Lancaster in 01 I think. We are not out of the woods yet.

Photo #5 at the WRAL slideshow doesn't even look like North Carolina. No trees. It looks like it was taken on the Plains. I think someone snuck that in there as a prank.

Pattern change possible next week?? Comment Posted By Brady MN | September 14, 2007 @ 8:38 PM #

If someone wants to back that pic I won't argue, but... I agree Joe! No trees!!! That looks like as good of vantage on it as I would have if it was right over DA LAKE!!

Pattern change possible next week?? Comment Posted By Heidi | September 14, 2007 @ 8:51 PM #

I had not actually looked at the slide show until now, but I also agree about that #5 photo. Looks quite unlike any north carolina landscape. No trees, no hills, no crops, no buildings. Hmmm. Looks more like Nebraska. Or Texas. Or Eastern Colorado. Or insert-any-other-plains-state-name-here. But hey, at least they didn't steal one of Mike Hollingshead's photos! :D

Pattern change possible next week?? Comment Posted By Brady MN | September 14, 2007 @ 8:57 PM #

They changed the slideshow so now it's #7, and so nobody will know what we're talking about :-)~

(click name for photo). Also, that stuff in the field looks suspiciously like sagebrush, and those weathered fence posts look like they belong in Oklahoma not NC.

Oh well, it could be a shot from today in NC but if so you'd think it'd be on the front page somewhere.

Hey Brady! I'm not sure when pheasant season starts, but I'll sure be going! Excelltent places to hunt stretch from Colby, Ks., down to Garden City, and east to Hays. It varies year to year, I'll just have to experiment a little this year!

Pattern change possible next week?? Comment Posted By Heidi | September 14, 2007 @ 9:58 PM #

The TV.net bus! That ought to make all the other chasers REALLY HAPPY. Can you picture that, pulled over on the shoulder lined up with the DOW truck and the "original" Tornado Intercept Vehicle/Tank?! With Reed sticking his head out the window?! Try turning that thing around on a one-lane farm road with a flash-flood in progress! Not to mention, we'd all be suffering extreme hearing-loss from the HAIL NOISE!!! GREAT idea Joe!!!! ... Okay, I'd go, but only if Joel was driving!

Pattern change possible next week?? Comment Posted By AJ | September 14, 2007 @ 10:06 PM #

I knew you wouldn't be totally against the idea Heidi ;)

One teeny problem with the bus idea: it'd have to have a different engine, because old school bus diesels are slooooooooow. lol. An armored TIB.

Sure, we can install pig iron all over it, and plow through everyone just like Clint Eastwood in The Gauntlet. No need to turn it around! As long as it has a reverse gear (they like driving in reverse)!

Thats cool! I have to go south to find Pheasants! We have some pretty good grouse hunting and I think they should be up on there cycle which means they should be everywhere! but the meat is kinda slim, especially compared to Pheasants!!

Like I've said before. I'm trying to find a place on some land up here!! I need land I can shoot on! If ya ever wanna come up here for a redneck weekend! let me know!!

I did not bitch about heat! I love the stinky hot muggy skeeter infested Northern Minnesota Which for the most part has been skeeterless all year!! I used to love the cold! But lately my body just doesn't seem to like it!!=(

It's 37 here, but at the lake shore it's 44!! welcome to Duluth!!

Oh, and Reed, the Vikings D is solid as a brick shithouse, as long as I am not betting on them, no worries. How bout that Adrian Peterson fella?! I wonder where hes from! He runs like freakin Earl Campbell!

OU is favored by 46 points today. How ridiculous is that? Would you rather put your money on OU -46 or Utah State +46?

I'll watch the #10 Ohio State at Washington game today.

Edmonton Eskimos won a game last night against montreal. 47-28 we were in the lead with 45-15 in the 4th quater at 10 minutes left until montreal got 2 touchdowns in 7 minutes.

Thanks T...we need to fix that!

Minnesota D will be solid until they face Kitna and the Lions. When are you coming down for a game?

Pattern change possible next week?? Comment Posted By Joe Surfer | September 15, 2007 @ 11:42 AM #

You're in a quandary there, Reed. Vikings play the Lions tomorrow!

IOW, you've got your Fantasy QB facing off against your Fantasy defense. Ouch! LOL, who to root for?

Heidi, Brady... I sent an email to WRAL, telling them all the reasons we thought that photo was a hoax. They pulled it from the slideshow!

Score one for the TV.net blog-comment peanut gallery.

Heck ya!! Good job Joe!!

Well, Huskies lost. That's the season! Good luck OU. It's a cakewalk for you to go 5-0 into Oct. 6. Beat the Longhorns and you should be waltzing into the BCS championship game.

NOOO I thought that was next week!

I was planning on picking up a backup defense. It's a good thing I'm up against Corey's squad.

What photo was that Joe?

Just got back from another 50+ point OU victory.

Hey everybody, what's going on? How's everyone's Saturday? That pic seemed pretty fake... I guess someone else thinks so too ;)

College games galore today... I've gotten mixed up with all of them, and none of my favs were winning, so it's on boring old baseball now. lol

Hehe!! I might have to pull out the ol TIV one last time I see!! No work for me Monday and Tuesday!! I'll keep my fingers crossed until then!!

Pattern change possible next week?? Comment Posted By Joe Surfer | September 15, 2007 @ 6:31 PM #

The pic itself was probably real enough, but the thing is, it was submitted as supposedly being a photo from the NC storm yesterday. No way that thing was taken yesterday in central North Carolina.

AJ did the Buffs pull it out last night?

Pattern change possible next week?? Comment Posted By AJ | September 15, 2007 @ 6:44 PM #

No Joe, they didn't :( Great Bend beat them by 2 points. AAAAAAAAAAA.

Sagebrush in NC? I'll believe it when I see it. lol

Gonna go guys, be back later. Ciao.

Way to go on the pseudo-Tar-Heel-tornado, Joe. :-D

Next year there ought to be an TV.net fantasy football league! I'm in a 16 team league now. I have Vince Young at QB which I'm not extremely happy about, but I also have Antonio Gates at TE, Edg. James & Larry Johnson at RB and Baltimore's defense. I think I have a playoff team if my receivers turn out better than they look right now. I do have Chris Chambers, but beyond that it's a little sketchy. A lot of young guys and guys coming off of major injury.

Geez, Arkansas is losing to 'Bama. BUT, ASU is ahead of SMU.

..... I want to see a moderate risk day soon!

Pattern change possible next week?? Comment Posted By Kenny | September 15, 2007 @ 9:35 PM #

Ahh so boring here in edmonton. We really need storms so I can film them!!! Grrr I need something to happen soon.

Well, I'm back from a long day of dove hunting, and now I'm just watching the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders show on tv. I have to say its pretty awesome. No weather here. Not even oxygen. Just pollen... (sneeze)
