A cold front is currently moving southeastward across central Saskatchewan as of early afternoon, with deep moisture being advected northward ahead of the boundary. The RUC model is forecasting decent deep-layer shear for southeast SK late this afternoon and evening, but marginal low-level shear. Still though, with 700 mb flow of 30+ knots, there is a chance for supercells and even a very small possibility of a tornado if storms can remain discrete into the evening!

Ok I see the watch for both Provinces here in Canada by EC.
I used the Radar and Satelite imagery, and find nothing. no cells.
I don't understand. Is EC using something we don't know about ? ah.. the crystal ball ?
I think the chances for severe weather are going to become lot greater as the afternoon and evening wears on, Rene. They're probably putting the watch out now, when it's still blue-sky time, to remind people to keep their guard up. Put another way, they probably feel that the risk is worth issuing a watch at this time, as opposed to later in the afternoon, even though no storms have begun to build yet.
Remember, too, that they're most likely basing their watch area on "invisible" parameters, (like instibility and shear) and not just what's appearing on radar.
You've been telling us all that you're a "noob", so here's a link you can copy and paste (or click my name).
http://www.srh.noaa.gov/oun/severewx/glossary.php#Introduction
You (and/or others) might want to add that to your favorites. It's a glossary of weather terms that you're likely to see thrown around a lot, so if you ever want to know, for example, what CAPE or MCS means, you can just look it up in that if you're not sure. It has just about everything in there. :)
One critical piece of information that I forgot to include in my last post is that it was 102 degrees here a short time ago. It's cooled down to 101 now - THANK GOD! :-D
Small at least i think a small thunderstorm is firing up around me and im just north of winnipeg
hey would someone mind posting the link to the EC radar im a dumbass and cant seem to find it...lmao
Here is the link Amanda

lol thanks alot matt;-D
No problem. but man im bored. :-(
yeah tell me about it...where abouts are u?
Southern Ontario, its raining but other then that is pretty boring here how bout u?
Manitoba...just had a small t-shower pass over nothing major...figured id come check and see if there are any warnings out....looks like we might get some excitement later on
TORNADO WARNING IN NORTHERN OHIO.
damn i was going to drive down and chase this today but decided not to because of the low risk of seeing a tornado. And the fact that im broke and gas would probably kill me.
Come to think of it, this site has been running on fumes since the June 23 wedge. July must be a tough month!
Day 47 of the tv.net drought.
What's the line in Vegas for new tube video in the next two weeks? Mother Nature needs to throw us a bone here.
Well looking at the outlooks for tomorrow and its looks like Minny North and South Dakota could see some action tomorrow. I think Reed said they might chase this setup but im not sure about that
Cool, maybe Andrew, Brady, or Travis (da boys from MN) will swing over for that one too.
Thanks Heidi .... :)

Matt, what did you use to see this ?
http://www.spc.noaa.gov/exper/mesoanalysis/s7/index2.html
OH, PA & WV
Joe, if ya want I might be able to arrange a time-lapse of my okra wilting in the heat. More riveting TV - Where Do I come up with them?!
High= 102.4 today. Sounds like a radio station. (HA-HA-HA! *rolls eyes*)
Some heavy action again in SW Pennsylvania right now, skirting the MD line. There have been several TVS in the Greene Co. area, with convincing couplets on the velocity scope. My peeps in MD are probably in pre-freak-out mode.

Click on the Conv. Outlooks and it will give u todays tomorrows and the next day chances of Severe weather.
Ah ok Matt...thanks
it's starting to make sense
Big-time storm in Medina Co. OH right now - 4" hail indicated, and the DBZ on GR3 is in WHITE!!! AAAAAAAAAAAA!
Im pretty sure that means something good, i hate this because like i said i was going to drive down today but because of low risk of tornado i decided not. to. And the fact i have no money and gas would kill me.
MAJOR WINTER STORM HEADING THIS WAY!!!!!
I'm in the same boat as you Matt.. But If I did have the money and gas, I would get you to come along with me. Next time
Zack ... when should we expect this? ... Winter? ;-D
Now because im working and making some money next year ill probably start making some US chases next season. Im broke because i just bought a car so im ya kinda hurting for cash. So next year ill have alot more money and probably take 2 weeks holidays in June or July and go on a chase.
God its August and where talking about Winter. But im hoping for a better winter then last year.
Don't go in July, Matt, I don't know if that's a good month down here or not.
(Heidi, WiltedOkraVideos.net is not taken yet... just think you could make a bundle!)
I"m just kidding guys!! There is no winterstorm coming unfortunantly lol. This heat is KILLING my garden and not to mention myself as well!! We had a storm complex early this morning in northern oklahoma but myplace didn't recieve a drop of rain!! A heat advisory has just been issued here from the NWS saying temps will range from the upper 90's to the mid 100's! W/ heat indices way higher than that! AAAAAAAHHHH
Btw, did anybody watch the video I posted???
Joe: What would be a good month to come down??? would April or June work better more early in the season???
Zack: I watched that video and ya i dont like Fergie so i could care less but i watched the video and thought it was funny.
The CAPE over Ohio right now isnt very high at 1000 j/kg but still enough to produce a tornado if it already hasnt. Wind Shear is about 30 knots so its possible that is supercell produced a tornado.
Matt, I'm not qualified to dole out the tips, but April-June would be better than July, IMO.
Alright thanks Joe. Ill ask Reed and see what he says.
I don't like fergie either it just so happened I came across it... I'm bored and Reed I hope you chase the dakotas setup cuz we are due for another tornado video lol. Sick of watching the same videos over and over!
Matt I question whether that was a girl or a guy?
Lol I don't wanna know hehe.
I dont wanna know either so that makes two of us
Just a question i am going to put out there to anybody that is on here.
What is your favourite tornado video that Reed and Joel or Dave have shot. ???? Just wondering
re: Fav TV.net video.
It used to be Manchester, SD (the PG rated version! ;-)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4MCu8Cv7WI
But now it's a tie with Manitoba.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEUXr6FMtWk
I can't wait until this year's highlight DVD is ready. Seeing the Manchester tornado on my TV screen (with good reception!) in Tornado Glory was life-altering. I imagine the same will be true for the Manitoba tornado.
Hey guys! Well, a Severe Thunderstorm just missed my area of Winnipeg..but if I look just outside my window to the East I can see some cool structure. I'm gonna just watch it..really cool.
Jon
re: Favorite Tornadovideos.net vid.....
I love the Mulvane Kansas one!
But the Manitoba tornado was just absolutly amazing!! So geez I dunno lol.

oops double post... Computer sucking shit today.
I can see that Reed is busy, but I nevertheless look forward to purchasing additional DVDs of his through Ebay or by any other means through which he makes them available.
Hey all. I'm stopping by long enough to state my opinion.
Favorite TV.net video: A tie between Manitoba and Ellis Co., Ok. Nonetheless, they're all awesome when you're bored at home!
to day was the first day of school for me!
Severe thunderstorm warnings just went up for a lot of southern manitoba....
hi guys i'm in ohio where those storms are and it is pitch black here but the major storms r usually always just north or just south of me which sucks
any tornadic stuff up there?
two counties below me there is a tornado warning in Columbiana county
well u should still seek shelter.
i think that the tornado warning will be lifted anytime now the cell is starting dispated some and doesnt look as bad as it did about 30 minutes ago.
yup
Man were is everybody?????
there is a big bow echo going though your area! 80 plus MPH WINDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Definitely 80mph winds here in MB *picks the dirt out of his hair* I'll have some pics in a bit of it.
Where do u live Janet????
Correction: 50 MPH... I shouldn't read people's posts above me when I'm typing
i live in girard OH just north of Youngstown
Ok it will probably rain there for a while but the worst of the storm has past over you. So ya it might rain for a while and might see some thunder and lightning but nothing bad.
hey Janet 4 tornado reports so far in OH!!!
yeah its raining lightly now and there is some lightning and thunder thanks Matt
Possible supercell northeast of Yorkton right now. Looks pretty nice of Radar and it just fired up.
thats pretty cool caleb do u know if one of them was in Salem cuz i heard of a roof being blown off and cars were tipped over?
No not in Salem
yes! janet just checked the SPC the storm prediction center and it said SHELBY RICHLAND OH 4088 8266 POSSIBLE TORNADO DESTROYED BUILDING
ONTARIO RICHLAND OH 4077 8261 POSSIBLE TORNADO TOUCH DOWN
2105 MASSILLON STARK OH 4079 8152 POSSIBLE BRIEF TORNADO TOUCH DOWN
AKRON SUMMIT OH\POSSIBLE TORNADO VISIBLE BY SPOTTER AT CORNER OF ARLINGTON ROAD AND INTERSTATE 77.
oh okay thanks
If you hate the heat. head to Alberta.
Some models suggest a possibility of freezing rain and snow in some areas!!
65% chance of snow in Alberta foothills
note that it may not accumulate
Not much but in AUGUST are you kidding!
thats awesome caleb

I could put a lot more links on here, but yikes! What am I missing that does NOT make this a good tornado setup for South Dakota/Southern MN?
Anyone answering be careful of the terminology you use... lol. MCS = Many Crappy Storms. Don't wanna hear it.
Missing ingredient is Chemical X.
No sorry Tim I found that on a model too... er... I can't find the link though.
Manitoba storm pics are up (along with a nice video of the wind). Click my tag for the link!
ya there is a nice setup for tomorrow in South Dakota and Minny tomorrow.
Really... well if there was sugar and spice too you get Powerpuff Girls rather then t-storms..
Many Crappy Storms is the story of this year for me a couple of good storms but alot of MCS according to Andrew!!!!!
Sorry had to say it
Hey.. if I'm lucky we'll get some snow-thunderstorms again this October.. if I do I'll take some video of em for everyone... it's always freaky to watch the snowflakes fall in between the lightning strikes haha

Tim nice pics. And Caleb nice links.
Timmah! Nice pics.
Andrew, the big question is... are ya gonna chase it?
ya Andrew are you gonna chase tomorrow or not???
Well there is the potential for thundersnow in Alberta if the cold and peak of the storm align(around 6AM)
I'd think about it, given that Reed comes on here and verifies that it looks good. Don G. stay away you #1 killjoy.
I guess I would chase a big MCS just to give it the finger.
But seriously I'll hop in the car and chase anything within 50 miles or so... fat chance of that though looking at the latest stuff. Looks like the storms are going to ride down the front through WC into SE Minny, so that pretty much screws my chances (hard to chase far when you have 4 kids at home and a wife who still is pretty unhappy about the hail dents in her car). But if anything pops close I'll go take a look at it. My problem is that I will only chase a discreet storm because I don't trust myself in a big ball of goop. I'd get munched by something before I ever recognized it.
Ya Andrew i dont have the kids or wife problem yet its just my mom will kill me if i storm chase. i chased a storm about 10 minutes from my house and got in crap for it. But ya i dont have kids wife/girlfriend problem yet so im good.
I should go chase that... oh wait, I can't. I have to work, and I don't have the spare cash anyway. This sucks.
To whomever will be chasing: good luck, and bring back a 'nader!
Id chase it but id have to like leave right now to get there in time
its nasty here guys its awesome purple cell over us lots of nasty stuff, including softball size hail in some parts
Well nobodys here rightn\ now im out i gotta work tomorrow morning and im golfing in the afternoon so i gone till saturday PEACE
What are you doing inside on the computer then aaron! Get out there and take pictures for us haha.. Oh wait.. I mean.. "only if it is safe to do so"... yes... right...
did any of you guys watch those movies??
LOL i am the 100th person to post!
dad has the car so thats not going to happen but one is heading my way should be here with in 20mins or so
Sky is clearing temp at 12C @730pm
Based on the clearing I can say it will be 5C at 12:00 midnight
And 2C by 3:00am and level off at 1C or 2C.
This could be a close one!
note that snow has never been recorded this early.
If it clouds over more it will drop to 5C by 3:00am
That storm cell over Dauphin right now is massive.
dauphin golf ball to soft ball size hail, broken windows windows reported and it is sweeeeeeeettttttttt!!!!!
In the case anyone cares....
There is a nice Bow Echo organizing in northern Nebraska and Southern South Dakkota.
It looks promising for tommorow too for that area. 30% Enhanced Svr Risk.
The storm southeast of Dauphin has been showing a nice hook echo on recent radar scans.
With the low-level jet kicking in it may have a chance of producing a tornado. INCREDIBLE hail with these things as Aaron as reported!!!
Thanks for the update David...we're looking forward to the 00z models that's for sure.
Man that sorm is looking fierce now. Anyone know if a tornado developed from it in NE yet?
Well.. you know it'll be a nice night when Environment Canada forecasts Severe Thunderstorms for your evening weather haha.
Hodograph on mega-steroids for tomorrow night, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
http://beta.wxcaster.com/cgi-bin/parse_skewt_trace.cgi?model=META&fcsthr=036&STATIONID=kfsd
Wish I could be there. Looks like LOTS of other storm chasers will though. Good luck Reed and company if you decide to go.
I might risk it and head out again this evening if these huge storms survive to get down to stonewall/winnipeg area.
You are having all the fun in Manitoba and it's almost snowing here. I call it hypothermia rain since going out in it is like jumping into the arctic ocean
HAHA.
Weather radar shows numerous severe thunderstorms in the Roblin and Dauphin areas. These storms have produced quarter to baseball size hail and damaging winds in excess of a 100 km/h. Very heavy rains are also expected with these storms. There is even the possibility of a tornado. - (YAY) More severe thunderstorms will move into the Roblin and Dauphin areas within the hour. These storms are tracking southeastwards at 20 to 30 km/h.
Stonewall just went under a warning
Whoa Tim,
I wish I could zoom in closer on the EC radar but there is a wicked looking storm sw of Ashern that just developed a killer hook.
Hello there, the forecast for winnipeg showed clear for a while, but was recently updated to a 60% chance of showers and/or tstorms overnight. Looks like environment canada is having trouble to put out those text forecasts.
I would like to ask if these storms can survive all the way to winnipeg and how strong can they be? Earlier on there were some storms however the formed east of us and dissipated. These ones seem to be the real deal.
isnt it horrible Mike.R i want another warm spell...btw did you get hit by that storm on tuesday in wataskawin?
Mike:
I dunno I was stuck in the leduc walmart waiting for some stupid person to find the key to the glass cabinets
Oh BTW It spelled WETASKIWIN
We task I win
me area under a watch right now. stayin up til the storm hits
sry mike lol, its a hard name to remember
I would like to ask if these storms can survive all the way to winnipeg and how strong can they be? Reed? Anyone? lol
that cell thats moving south-east towards oak point looks intense!!! i wonder if it has produced...definetly looks like it had a hook echo on some radar scans...theres gotta be reports of monster hail i bet...i just got home from work so i havent had a chance to look into detail yet!!!
If I don't see a storm like that this year i will cancel my CARABEAN VACATION in favor of tornado alley in spring
give me ur emails peeps i got a shelf cloud for u to see.
My email is mrurak@telus.net
on da way mike enjoy
Upload your pic to tinypic.com and post it here, aaron. It only takes a second
baseball sized hail!...i should have scrolled up a bit...im a little late and behind the loop here tonight haha! 19 degree dewpoint in gimli east of the line...theres still alot of moisture in the air to feed this thing...

Sweet!
Is that Ohio?
Whats up guys!!! I just got home from wally world(wal-mart) getting school supplies and as anyone could imagine that place was crazy lol!!! I go back to school on the 14th... Even though we are in the midst of a prolonged heat wave(ugh) I'm already creating an outlook for winter! Even though i'm no pro it's kinda fun making your own forecasts. Anyway it's late and I'm EXTREMELY tired so this is my last post... Some wicked storms up there today in manitoba to bad I missed out!
Well I guess this is goodnight...see ya!
no thats here in saskatchewan
Had a prob with the DL but thx for the link.
The is quite the mean looking cloud
I have seen such a shelf cloud before but at night.
So only the lightning, the moon, and city light made it possible to see
The storm did get rid of the city light real quick
Just wanted to say Hi everyone !! I have been reading some of the entrys I see there is alot going on out there. I will be glad when the Chat is back!! It is HOT & DRY here in Florida. NOTHING lately. Have a great on all !
Michelle =)
Snow VS Tropical heat
Manitoba in the middle of the ring
hey, i live in winnipeg. i've been watching the weather network and these look like extremely intense storms. do any of you guys think these storms will be intense or weakened by the time they reach winnipeg. i hope we get some good storms though.
my guess is they will weaken quiet a bit . u may have some small hail but nothing stupid like dauphin and roblin. u may have lots of lightning and heavy rain though. peace aaron
This is from EC just a few minutes ago for what it's worth.

Severe thunderstorm watch for
City of Winnipeg continued
This is an alert to the potential development of severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds.
At 11:15 PM radar continues to indicate a line of severe storms from near Lundar southwestward to near Plumas with other storms continuing on to the southwest to just south of Birtle. This line is tracking southeastward at 45 km/h. The strongest cell is over Lake Manitoba and will track onshore near st. Laurent in the next 20 minutes or so. Golf ball sized hail and wind gusts to 100 km/h are possible with this storm.
A cold front tracking southward across southern Manitoba is expected to continue to trigger thunderstorms tonight. Some of these storms have produced quarter to baseball sized hail, wind gusts in excess of 100 km/h and heavy downpours. Similar condition may occur throughout the night as further storms develop.
Just so you know.
This Bitter cold is not leaving for 5 days so that 5 more days of good chasing in Manitoba
LoL if it doesn't leave at all we may get the coldest august ever after the hottest July ever, now that is extreme
5 day for my area shows 21C at best
24C is avg
A line of thunderstorms west to east is ongoing, the eastern ones being the strongest ones. An embedded long lived supercell may hit winnipeg, if it manages to sustain itself. A slightly more south east motion i think could bring it over winnipeg. Incredible that the storm is still ongoing and managed to remain quite discrete.
I have no more data cause my internet is slow and I am having so many popups. What does everyone else think?
Tim you around or did you head out...lots of lightening west of me and im just north of stonewall
Since I keep hearing all this talk about snow and winter and cold, I'm just gonna go ahead and through this out there (even though with our luck winter should be here by, oh, I don't know... April?)
Fact: Fort Worth sucks.
Every time a major snow storm is dropping inches and inches all across north Texas, it reaches Fort Worth, and BAM! There goes all the snow! Fort Worth needs to stop hogging all the snow and share with the rest of DFW!
Yup. Went up just south of you... Got some great shots I'll upload in a few mins
Friday is looking VERY INTERESTING for South Dakota!
City of Winnipeg just went under a severe t-storm warning now.
Tag has the link to the photos of the lightning from this storm
Yes if the cap can break eastern south dakota could be fun tomorrow. 500mb winds seem to be one weakness. But if the cap breaks south.... :( tornadovideos.net should be at least considering this....... :)
OH BOY OH BOY!
10% Tornado, 30% hatched Hail and Win.
" A COMPLEX BUT POTENTIALLY SIGNIFICANT SEVERE WEATHER SCENARIO MAY
UNFOLD ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE NRN PLAINS INTO THE UPPER MS VALLEY
DURING THE DAY FRIDAY"
"CAPPING ISSUES ARE THE MAIN CONCERN AT THIS TIME...BUT IF
CONFIDENCE INCREASES THAT CAP WILL BREAK RESULTING IN FAVORABLE
STORM MODE THEN A MODERATE RISK MAY BE REQUIRED."
Yahoo! Stonewall is getting slammed right now! Constant lighting and horizantal rain!!! North Winnipeg has hail.
I'm in the northwest corner of Winnipeg. We are getting hammered with hail, strong winds, rain, etc! It's nuts out there! Theer is going to be a lot of damage when this is over.
WOO HOO!

Severe thunderstorm warning for
City of Winnipeg continued
At 1:15 AM radar continues to indicate a couple of very strong thunderstorm cells clustered from near and just northwest of Winnipeg. These storms have recently produced extremely strong winds with gusts to 117 km/h reported in delta beach area in the past 2 hours and gusts to 100 km/h reported at 1:15 at the Winnipeg airport. These storms also are likely producing quarter to twoonie sized hail. Radar also continues to show rotation in the storms so tornadoes are still a possibility. These storms are tracking southeastward at 70 km/h. Another strong storm is developing east of Gladstone and is likely producing large hail and strong winds. This storm is moving eastward at 60 km/h.
Storms are currently happening..winds are very strong...lightning is intense...and rain is heavy here in SE Winnipeg. Also, it seems storms are building behind these ones..so I'll be watching this all night!
Jon
Just around thirty minutes ago, we had nickel-size hail falling in west Winnipeg.
Lightning to the east looks like a party strobe, an awesome night time show!
John
Look at this thing coming out the other side of Winnipeg.. it's intensifying insanely... And we've got another even stronger one coming in behind it within 45 mins or so.
Just read that Jonathon. Be safe all - sounds really wicked in Winnipeg at the moment.
Edmonton is boring, blah, chilly & rainy.
John......u got hail? All i got out of storm #1 was Heavy Rain.......Insane Wind.......and Intense Lightning....and the wind is already picking up in advance of storm number 2-the more intense one.
Also all Winnipegers and Manitobans...what parts are ya from? Just curiows to see if ya got anything.
OK cya for now!
Jon
I'm like 3-5 minutes west of Winnipeg Int'l.. great view of the north cause I've got a park behind my house.
Jon, I'm in east wpg and got same as you.. VERY intense wind (will have damage in this area), heavy downpours, intense lightning.. was fun watching things fly by my window.
Is dying down now, so I'm waiting on #2 here.
I have a suggestion. Once the memberships are put in place, people could be able to click on a member's name or something and see where they are located on that Frappr map thing, if the person wants to allow that. Just a little thought I had.
Now that I'm so tired I'm dizzy, I think I'm gonna go to bed.
Goodnight all,
Connor
i'm in south eastern winnipeg... st-vital. Strong winds (my guess at 90km/h), heavy rain and hail the size of pennies were falling at some point. Upon checking on radar, the strongest part didnt hit us, and the part that did became intense right after.
North and eastern parts probably got it good...
I am not too sure about storm number 2 though....Its still a long way out.
gonna be watching though
sorry... st-vital would be south western winnipeg.
I just came back from a walk outside in my neighbourhood in the Garden Grove area (north west corner of Winnipeg). There are many trees down and there are many streets that are flooded. All of our vehicles have hail damage. The second storm will definitely be interesting.
Still getting a lightshow here. Uh #2 -looks- to be disappating but it might be because it's so close to the Woodland's Radar site.. We'll have to wait til it comes out the other side to see. It wouldn't surprise me though.. It's looking nasty out my window in that direction.. total flat cloud bottom for miles with a slight break in between
Warning's ended for Winnipeg now. Still up around us though
And we're back under a watch lol
Ashley and Deejayonur....I'm in St. Vital also. St. Vital is in SE Winnipeg, not SW. Anyways....i only got piece of hail...ONE! and it just happened to hit by my window. lol. Man, I hope this second storm is more intense.
Jon
i think it is safe to call it a night...and go to bed fellow storm watchers.
have a good night... and possibly more storms tormorrow.
cheers
WOW what an awesome storm....got some good shots of lightening that i will upload tomorrow...How close is that second storm to me Tim...wind picked back up here pretty good?
Should be going over you Amanda. Worst appears south of you but it's disappated a lot from its previous glory. Tiny bit of reintensification in the last sweep but I have a feeling it's just its final burst. I got some shots of the lightning approaching when it was up by you. Too light down here to get anything good though.
Well I checked out the damage on my street. Several large branches down (one huge one is blocking my neighbours driveway). Plastic swimming pool flew 2 doors down, hit my window and made me jump. Lots of toys and chairs and stuff knocked over in backyard.. I've heard a few ambulances/fire trucks go by tonight, don't know wh
