Severe weather situation unfolding!

A broken line of intense thunderstorms have developed from Michigan southwestward to Oklahoma, with even a few tornado warnings -- one in central Michigan and another in Missouri.  However, the tornado threat does not appear to be high even with the tornado-warned cells.  Hundreds of severe thunderstorm warnings are in effect across the central and eastern U.S., with the strongest cells in the southern Great Lakes Region as expected.  Shown below is a graphic of the severe warnings in effect (blue dots = severe thunderstorm, red dots = tornado warnings).

If anyone captures any good pictures of today's severe weather, and would allow me to post them on the blog for everyone to see, please email them to reed@tornadovideos.net along with the desired copyright watermark.  Stay tuned for updates!

Can I send a photo of the blue-sky outbreak we're having here just south of the boundry? How about a photo of my down-turned face as I lament our 100 degree, windy, brown landscape. :(

Wow, looks exciting! My sky is gray and cloudy to the south and west, but sunny to my east and north. I had a rain dumper last nite: over an inch and a half! Some pretty nice lightning shows also...

Wonder what's in store for me later...

Good Afternoon All,

I have taken everyones advise, and left OWS Completely, other members have done so as well.

After stating a differential thought, I was verbally assaulted.

I would like to confirm, Yes, Mr. Martin has threatened multiple times TV.NET Chasers publicly in his chat, and the language was extreme.

I would like to say TV.NET ROCKS, And I hope when yall open your new chat, I will be allowed into the good rankings of tv.net chatters :)

Also, TV.net Staff, You need to check your securty, OWS has posted in their chat, and I do believe it is true, Your server system has been, and is still in risk of being hacked into.

Please delete this message if you feel you need to. Thanks!

David, first of all, congratulations on separating yourself from such characters. It can be hard to do, once you've become semi-buddies with someone online, but you showed you're able to re-assess and make the right decision.

Second, don't worry about the empty-aired "threats." Nobody can find your physical address from your IP address without delivering a subpoena to your internet provider, and they will only release it to law enforcement... in other words, it is a hollow threat. Furthermore, there are a lot of people on the internet with big mouths, and the size of the mouth is in inverse proportion to what they can actually accomplish.

In short, you have nothing to worry about. Walk away from it, don't look back, and enjoy Reed's wonderful website and the community here.

David, it was instantly obvious to me that you didn't make the "Screw tornadovideos.net" post. Weather it out, it will fade away. Don't let anybody intimidate you online. TV.net will be able to see you didn't make any posts that you didn't actually type yourself.

Just wondering where all the good tornado action is hiding Brady. For practice and fun, every time a warning pops up on my screen, I run outside and fling myself into the nearest ditch! Works for me

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Brady MN | August 24, 2007 @ 11:42 PM #

Hehehehe!!!! Wow! I might do that too! It's kinda hard to practice core punching without any cores!!

I suppose if I'm really hard up I can just go stand in front of the Metrodome after a game and let the Hurricane wind blow my hat down the road!! Thats always fun!! BTW! the twins won again!! hooda thunkit!

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Brady MN | August 24, 2007 @ 11:51 PM #

I don't have to work this weekend! I have a lil cash saved up!! I wuz thinkin about goin somewhere! Just me and my lucky 'ol Louiseville!
What do you think about Cali Joe??

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Joe Surfer | August 24, 2007 @ 11:53 PM #

Yeah, ever since Andrew posts those shots of the humongous hailstones, I've been noticing how close the windshield actually is to my face.

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Brady MN | August 25, 2007 @ 12:01 AM #

Yeah! I would not wanna be caught in the WIV when those start falling! =(

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Joe Surfer | August 25, 2007 @ 12:06 AM #

Maybe I'll convert my boat into a WIV too! Then we can do a little WIV swapping! bee-dum-boom. Okay that was bad.

I got caught in a hailstorm on the boat before, came out of nowhere from a squall. Didn't even have time to put any gear on. Not as bad as the time I got caught on my bicycle though, but at least had a helmet on that time.

I don't see any upside to monster hail... but it was funny when someone said (I think it may have been Reed) he used to keep a mini-fridge plugged into the cigarette lighter for saving good stones

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By AJ | August 25, 2007 @ 12:09 AM #

Yeah guys, I'm beginning to wonder what a hailstone traveling at 500 fps will sound like... and thank goodness we have got at least one piece to this crazy puzzle settled, for now anyway.

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Brady MN | August 25, 2007 @ 12:14 AM #

A few years ago we had some baseball hail that messed stuff up pretty good! I came down really hard too!! lotsa busted glass a few people hospitalized! We probably had 3 to 3" to 4" of slush on the ground afterward! Fun stuff! I was in a lil trailer house at the time. Man that was loud!

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Brady MN | August 25, 2007 @ 12:20 AM #

LOL!! Hailstone margarita's anyone??

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Joe Surfer | August 25, 2007 @ 12:21 AM #

I noticed last time I was in Minnesota there are an awful lot of signs nailed to trees that say, Hail Damage? Call XXX-XXXX!! Around here it is stump removal signs

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Brady MN | August 25, 2007 @ 12:24 AM #

Yep!! It was right after the same storm that I started seeing those signs everywhere! the cars looked funny for awhile after that one!! like golfballs!!

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Brady MN | August 25, 2007 @ 12:28 AM #

Did the hail damage your Vessel at all?

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Joe Surfer | August 25, 2007 @ 12:29 AM #

I didn't realize until Andrew posted those pics that monster hail stones have all those spikes all over them. They look like medieval weapons or something... man that would hurt on the noggin.

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Joe Surfer | August 25, 2007 @ 12:30 AM #

No, not at all, it was marble sized at best, we don't get giant hail around here that I know of.

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By AJ | August 25, 2007 @ 12:30 AM #

My town (GC) had a really bad hail storm several years ago, with some pretty large, up to baseballs I believe. I didn't live here at the time, but my grandma did, and her car was trashed after that.
Brady, hail slush is fun to drive in, especially with a RWD car. :D

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Brady MN | August 25, 2007 @ 12:32 AM #

yes it is!! especially when that car has 300+ horse!

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Joe Surfer | August 25, 2007 @ 12:40 AM #

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By AJ | August 25, 2007 @ 1:17 AM #

lol. I like that video too. It's perfect in it's execution!

My only other question is: when God wants another quick cruel laugh, I wonder if I'll be the guy that gets struck by lightning? Hmmm.... lol

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Brady MN | August 25, 2007 @ 1:18 AM #

Speaking of dumb birds! Are the seagulls (skyrats) just as annoying in Seattle as they are here?

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Joe Surfer | August 25, 2007 @ 1:19 AM #

Man, that was incredible... it was such a direct hit that the baseball almost stopped dead! Feathers everywhere! The bird was totally denuded! when asked about it later Randy said he didn't think it was very funny.

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Joe Surfer | August 25, 2007 @ 1:22 AM #

Yes they are totally annoying here Brady, but not as annoying as the noobs who come down to the marina and think it's fun to feed them. I once had one fly under my fishing line here right as I casted, the line got caught in his feathers and dropped him to the water... I cut my line in hopes he would get free, lost a $3 lure on that one.

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Brady MN | August 25, 2007 @ 1:25 AM #

He probably secretly chuckled to himself Brady ;)

You might have seagulls, but I have crows, buzzards, and maybe even a lovely vulture! ggaaahhh!! Your car isn't very well protected against running over a stupid buzzard eating roadkill.

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Brady MN | August 25, 2007 @ 1:35 AM #

They're vicious too! I can't stand the rats with wings!
It's actually illegal to feed em here although never enforced! the tourists love em, we hate em!! Always staining up my WIV!!

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Joe Surfer | August 25, 2007 @ 1:39 AM #

Then stop swerving out of your way to hit em!

You guys missed out on all the fun. Here in Mid-Michigan (Lansing area) we had a few confirmed tornadoes with lots of damage. Also, as you go east from here towards Flint and Detroit, there were many more reports, including a city (Fenton) that has over 100 houses destroyed from at least 1, possibly 2 tornadoes according to local news sources.

Click the link on my name to go to my local news page for pictures of the damage and the likes.

I also have a problem concerning squirrels... they piss me off! You can find me up at 6 in the morning, in my PJ's with a BB rifle waiting on the squirrels. lol

AJ Rule of Driving #94: when wanting to park in an unknown area, make sure to not park directly underneath a tree, because you don't know what crap might land on your chase truck! *Also ties in with #69 in the series: Goose poop sucks!!

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Brady MN | August 25, 2007 @ 1:42 AM #

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By AJ | August 25, 2007 @ 1:43 AM #

Joe, I think I'll need a grill guard for that! lol.

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Mike | August 25, 2007 @ 1:44 AM #

Hey AJ, a better way to get rid of them and not get in trouble is to use a paintball gun :) It stings the hell out of the squirrels and causes them to not come back for quite a while :)

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By AJ | August 25, 2007 @ 1:46 AM #

I've considered that Mike. I stopped using it when I ran out of ammo :D Now that I am fully stocked again, maybe there will be pink-branded squirrels again!

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Brady MN | August 25, 2007 @ 1:46 AM #

The most annoying animal in the world, IMO, is not the seagull, or the squirrel, or the garden-eating deer,... but it is the damn barking dog next door!

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Brady MN | August 25, 2007 @ 1:52 AM #

Around here we use 12guages! its the only way to make sure they dont come back! My grandpa used to make me shoot the squirrels out of his bird feeders! I swear he tried every pollock thing he could think of!! and he was a briiliant engineer too!

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By AJ | August 25, 2007 @ 1:53 AM #

Yeah, I have a few allergies that get to me, like pollen and stuff. Antihistamine pills work wonders. lol

Welp, it's late, and I'm dozing off. See you later. G'nite to you, "and the horse you rode in on."

Did you see that the Rangers beat Baltimore 33-3 the other day?

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Joe Surfer | August 25, 2007 @ 2:31 AM #

That was amazing, because the Rangers aren't even that good

Guillen homered! Detroit wins!

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Brady MN | August 25, 2007 @ 2:36 AM #

Even though my team needs to catch up to Detroit, and a yankee win would have been another game! I still can't watch those bums win and enjoy it at all!

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Joe Surfer | August 25, 2007 @ 2:39 AM #

True, plus you really need to catch Cleveland, and it knocks the Yanks back another game in the wild card. Anytime the Yanks lose is ok by me.

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Brady MN | August 25, 2007 @ 2:54 AM #

6 more games with Cleveland and 6 with Detroit! so anything can happen still! I don't think we have the bats to make it very far in post season. Last year we did and the forgot how to use 'em!

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Joe Surfer | August 25, 2007 @ 3:05 AM #

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By smt | August 25, 2007 @ 11:03 AM #

Reed - Gayle called on her way to MSU and the tornado damage in Howell is terrible. Last night Justin had to go in the basement of his dorm - the touchdowns were farther east but the campus was in turmoil. All we had on this side of the state is some more rain - no storms at all.

Yeah, I know this is waaaaay old now, and totally has nothing to do with weather, but I had to tell you guys that I WAS THERE when Randy Johnson hit the dove!! It happened during a Spring Training game in Tucson, against the Giants. Our seats were on the first-base side, second row from the field, and when it happened, my first thought was that they were messing around with a trick ball or something, because it looked like what would happen if a bat hit a ball that was loaded with confetti. I don't think a lot of people in the stadium realized what had happened until Jeff Kent (who was on-deck) picked the thing up and held it out for everyone to see. There were a LOT of doves hanging around on the perimeter of the field that day, so maybe it's little wonder that it happened! Anyway, sorry for the digression off topic, but I had to mention it! =-P

We had some sprinkles here this morning - that's weather news for us!!! :-D

Hey all! It's gray and overcast here, with no rain or storms in sight :(

Reed's mommy, where is Howell?

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By caleb | August 25, 2007 @ 12:24 PM #

Hey guys slight risk for storms today.... 5% chance of a tornado in maine

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By smt | August 25, 2007 @ 12:37 PM #

Howell is in Michigan - between Lansing and Detroit - right off a main interstate.

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By AJ | August 25, 2007 @ 12:50 PM #

Oh ok, thanks much smt! Twisters in Maine? How often does that happen?

And it's still gray and overcast here... grr... :(

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Joe Surfer | August 25, 2007 @ 1:26 PM #

Heidi - wow, what are the chances that somebody here was at that game, a Spring-training game no less! Awesome!

Severe weather situation unfolding! Comment Posted By Brady MN | August 25, 2007 @ 2:10 PM #
