Thanks to Jason, the new LIVE CHAT feature has been implemented! To enter the chat, just click on the **Live Chat** link on the menu bar, and enter your alias. Keep in mind this is a beta version, and we plan on initiating many security features in the near future, including moderators to keep spammers away from the chat. If spammers become a problem, please log off of the chat, and return at a later time, or wait until the security measures are enabled.
We've been having problems with impersonators, etc, so all chat entries from the TornadoVideos.net team WILL BE DISPLAYED IN RED.
The chat will also be operational during chases, so you can chat with the storm chasers live while they're in the field. Hopefully this will be a useful tool in the reporting/spotting process as well. We also plan to implement high-quality streaming video in time for next chase season, so the chat will compliment that feature well. ENJOY!

i couldnt stand all the inmaturity in the chat so i will post this here.
Pretty cool Mike. I took a similar pic last night, around 8:30. SW Kansas had a small front move through.
Immaturity in the chat room? How about that. lol.
Does anybody know if this chat beta will work on Blackberry internet? I am always on this site via blackberry but I am unable to get the chat working. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank You!
Yea, the live chat will be nice once the measures are in place!
So any warnings for SK?
Or more specifically ...."Any chance of tornadoes in SK"?
Hey Reed, if you want this chat thing to work, I think user names and passwords are the only way. Too many idiots will play games without proper security. I think this is a great site and will only get better as long as the childish crap stays away.
The Live Chat will not work proper in Internet Explorer or Mozzila Firfox. Is this just my internet provider?
@Jason W. - We will try to get something in place for PDA's.
This is just a first attempt at the chat. I am creating it all so we can tightly integrate it into the site. We are going to try to work on some security, but we really do not want to have to require everyone to have to login. I have a few ideas in mind - just need some time to implement ;).
Everyone enjoy and let us know of any suggestions you have.
Jason
Ooh looks good!
Great work on the chat, Jason. I've told Reed several times that I'm really impressed with the integration involved in TV.net.
Reed, I think you need to put in a request for a research assistant. A highly paid research assistant. From Michigan.
Still working on the bears schematic, I'll have it ready shortly.
Hahaha Corey. He should get some car company to donate vehicles to the cause as well. Then you can assist the research in your Hummer.
Excellent suggestion, Tim! I'm liking the direction this is heading.
Hey Jason, I am also having a problem accessing the chat feature. I let Reed know as well. Thanks, Dave
Correct that, I just tried it again and it worked this time.
jason:
thx for the chat option...makes the communication flow. as for the security measures...tyhe thing you want to do with moderators is really the best thing and have a posted standard " room rules" for everyone to read and if the disobey then they get the boot. ive seen to much chat crap and its always the same. someone needs a soapbox, and this sight is about pure intellectual knowledge and innocent discusion between chasers and like minded ppl. thx again and you too reed.
@Dale - Email me so I can give you the code to access the chat as a moderator.
@Dave - Glad you could get in.
@Everyone - Enjoy!
