Severe storms will develop this afternoon/evening along an advancing cold front and old outflow boundaries from the previous night's convection in southern MN, WI, northern IA, southeast SD, and extreme northeast NE. The WRF is forecasting a 30 kt low-level jet to develop at 00z in extreme southeast MN, southern WI, and northeast IA, so any discrete storms in this region will have a chance to rotate, given the moderately strong northwesterly flow aloft. Selected panels from this morning's WRF run for 7:00 pm CDT are displayed below:

Sweet! Hope we get something...let's get it ON!!!!
Yes! I hope we here in Minneapolis get hit hard. Although my fear is that the worst may be south and east of here. If this system stalls out for a few hours, we could definitally use a few inches of rain.
Might have the first action of the day way out ahead of the line that is in central MN right now. I see a patch of towering cu trying to go up straight east of me, which would put it maybe in extreme east central WI. Won't be anything on radar yet but there is a scattered cu field around me trying to do something. Maybe one of them will pop and stay out ahead of everything.
Severe thunderstorm watch issued for much of eastern MN and western WI!
Storms initiating rapidly
Wright MN has to be an interesting place right about now.
