A long-track tornadic supercell developed once again today in the mountains of Alberta and tracked east across the adjacent plains this evening, possibly producing tornadoes near Drumheller, AB between 6:30 and 7:00 pm MDT.  Here is the radar image as the storm was just east of Drumheller:

Meanwhile, in Saskatchewan, a strong cap has suppressed convection for the entire day, with EXTREME instability in place across the southeast part of the province east of the advancing cold front.  Convective initiation is still a small possibility here, and any storms that do develop will quickly become severe.  The 8:00 pm CDT RUC analysis for CAPE is shown below...note the large area of 5500+ J/kg!!!  However, it appears that this instability will likely not be realized.

Are the models showing anything significant for the next few days for Southern Saskatchewan or Saskatchewan in general. Suppose to cool down for tomorrow and possibly Thursday with this cold front.

As for this evening, Southwest Sask looks quite weak for any storms period with Southeast possibly late evening or early morning hours for Wednesday.

Aaron...sorry I lost you there. Looks like your house is in for some strong storms that's for sure. Let me know if you hear of any interesting reports.

Kalin...It looks like things are going to quiet down for SK for the next several days..at least through the weekend. This front will really clean out the good moisture.

I just got off the phone with Aaron...he's chasing the cell to the northeast of Yorkton right now near Kamsack, SK...he's seen a wall cloud and even possible funnels from time to time with it, and is reporting very frequent lightning. Right now the cell has a severe thunderstorm warning with it...I'll keep everyone updated if he sees anything more!

Hey Jonathan...tomorrow could be very interesting in southern Manitoba...very good instability, and flow is good 700 mb and above. The low-level shear is forecast to be lacking, but the models don't seem to handle low-levels very well up there. I'll be adding a post late tonight or tomorrow morning.
