TornadoVideos.net storm chasers will be heading to southern Saskatchewan to chase a tornado setup on Saturday. We will be leaving in a few hours for a target of Regina-Saskatoon, where CAPE and shear will be maximized, and CIN minimized. Here are some selected forecasts from the 12z WRF for 00z Sunday, with our target area highlighted in red:

27 hours??
thats long
i'm heading to poland on sunday
good luck
The 00z models look very good for between Regina and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan...we're walking out the door right now to begin the long drive.
It is a long drive from OK to SK, even from Winnipeg to SK (8-10 hour drive). Well, I hope the possible outbreak is worth the drive! Good luck on Saturday!!!! Friday looks good in SE SK, and SW MB, shifting towards Winnipeg by evening. I REALLY want a severe storm here! I cannot wait, once again.
Stay safe & enjoy the trip. It's too bad you probably won't be going through Wall, South Dakota on your way, I guess! They have the most awesomest arcade games in the universe, a big dinosaur, plus free ice water! :D
- Will your Cingular, or, I mean, The New AT&T service work there? Oh, I guess it doesn't matter anyway, since GR3 doesn't stretch that far ... WHAT WILL WE DO?!!?!! :D
I hope you guys enjoy your trip to Canada. I guess your going to have to use this http://weatheroffice.gc.ca/radar/index_e.html?id=XBE unless you pay for the doppler. Good hunting!
I really wish Canadians had a free Doppler feed.
Good luck guys!
Don't forget to report anything significant you see to Environment Canada. (They have the same standards for what is considered "severe" hail, rain, wind gusts, etc., as SPC.) They may not even go to warning unless something gets reported with a particular storm.
Oh, and I hear the gravel roads can be a little treacherous, so watch you speed...
Cheers,
Simon
Happy hunting in CANADA, eh! Wish I could join you from Winnipeg, but I'm working on Sunday. Another useful website is: http://www.umanitoba.ca/environment/envirogeog/weather/index.html
Here is the severe weather reporting number: 1-800-239-0484
Good luck and I look forward to updates on your site!
Allison
LET'S ROCK!
and drive safe ;)
Hi there guys!! I'm in Regina, Sask. where I live!! I'm very interested if you guys find tornadoes here on Sunday around Regina, but I hope it will not be in Regina! Read below:
Regina had never experienced a tornado. Its first hit on June 30, 1912, and is still considered the deadliest in Canadian history. As residents prepared for Dominion Day celebrations, a tornado with wind speeds over 300 km/h ripped through the heart of the city. Regina's wooden buildings were flattened, 28 people were killed and another 2,500 were left homeless. As two historians tell Morningside, the survivors had tales almost too bizarre to be believed.
Reed, good luck buddy and don't let any cunnucks get in your filming your videos, they are probably more clueless then we are back in Mich when it comes to tornado activity.
Geez i've always wanted to go there. I live in TX though where SOME tornadoes are. Well, let's get specific here, I live in San Antonio. You guys ever been here? Spurs won their 4th championship in 9 yrs.....
i got a question again do all the radars in the car when you chase are a program on a laptop or a special computer???
Paul: They use a laptop when they chase, and the radar comes from a software program that is available online. Here's a link to the software site: http://www.grlevelx.com/
Have fun north of the border I know I do when I visit Canada. Looks like a good setup but ya never know with the weather.
buckeye gerb
the tracker not workin?
Hey Mitch,
I'm a Cannuck (notice the capital C), and I have been to the site of 3 different tornados within an hour of my home, we get 5 or 6 a year in my area. The western planes get more so....
No, we do not get tornados in the quantity the Tornado ally does but we do get them. There really is no reason to insult a nation with a barely legible comment like that.
Reed... Good hunting man, I hope you get some fantastic footage and enjoy your trip to our side of the 49th.
James
Reed and I are currently in Hays, KS getting ready to start the trek northward. Models continue to suggest a severe weather outbreak with tornadic supercells very possible for Saturday, Sunday, and perhaps even on Monday. We will keep updating so stay tuned!
We will have the tracker going later today as we approach the border.
wow, it is looking good. Goodluck, I cant wait to see the video
Current track north out of Hays will take you near Bassett, NE, Dave gets his jollies there, I bet he is excited. I really need this tracker to be working, i'm bored out of my mind up here in Vici.
God Bless Canada!
Aww too bad its in saskatchewan. I'm in alberta =[. well good luck reed.
Good look and a good chase (stay save)!!
In hope to see good chasing footage.
By the way:
The Austrians got an intensive bow echo this afternoon:
"
...Eastern Austria...
A long-lived bow echo system with an embedded HP-supercell likely has a history of severe wind gusts of up to 36 m/s and large hail up to 4 cm as it rapidly moved eastward north of the Alps. Strong convergence of surface winds ahead of the system, and about 1000-1500 J/kg MLCAPE suggest that it will likely be sustained at least for a few more hours."
Source: www.estofex.org
We're currently heading north through the Sand Hills of NE...we should be crossing the border at around 2 am, and will stay the night in Regina.
I plan on getting some still photos of the Black Hills area and I'll post those later tonight.
It still looks very interesting in eastern SK tomorrow...and we'll be chasing Sunday and Monday up there as well.
Stay tuned for more updates.
Reed.......SE and East of Regina look interesting tomorrow......and Southern Manitoba looks interesting today. Watches are in effect in MB, SK, and AB right now. Also, at around 3 pm, mamatus clouds were spotted in Winnipeg, with dark skies to the South and West. I myself also saw this. Later on looks to be more active, along with tomorrow here!!!!! This is so sweeeeeeet!!!!!
Jon
Reed....Storms are firing here like crazy!!!!!!!!!! THERE ARE 5-10 TORNADO WARNINGS IN EFFECT AND ONE TORNADO ON THE GROUND JUST WEST OF ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Storms are rolling into my area now!!!!!!!Lights are flickering, too!!!!!!!! I'll keep you updated on this potentially deadly situation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Reed, Joel, Jason, and Dean! I was wondering if the news media from Regina got in touch with you at all today (Friday)? Is this the first time you are coming to Saskatchewan? There now is a risk of a thunderstorm around Regina tomorrow. Let us know when you'll be in Regina! Take care!
Reed just called and they are going to stay overnight in Canada - well on their way to an active day tomorrow. They are hoping for an easy border crossing with lots of equipment. Stay tuned........
Live about 30 km west Of Winnipeg and watched multiple tornados touch down this evening ( about one hour ago) , one close enough that I could see the debris cloud. We experienced hail and sheets of rain and a massive amounts of lightening.
Touchdown near Elie Manitoba tonight. Some houses damaged.
Didn't they say there were "numerous tornado touchdowns throughout Southern Manitoba"? Thats what i heard....with plenty of reports around Elie. Was the town hit? I'm not exactly sure.......or was it just near Elie? PLEASE RESPOND, SOMEBODY!!!!!!lol :)
http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/ has the story of the Elie tornado.. good pics too
Gregory:
They did get in touch with the media.
Just came back from the town (its just down the road from me). 3 houses leveled (1 more damaged badily and a few other with 'damage', semi or two in the ditch, train going through town looks like got derailed and a lot of other depreis near the four mill.
WOW, That tornado is beautiful!!! Sad that it caused damage though. I really need to chase in Canada, probably missing a great oprrunity here
Thanks for the link paul... It reminded me a lot of the Mulvane, KS tornado at some points... amazing!
WOW!!!
That tornado looked VERy similar to Mulvane, KS...actually a cross between the Woonsocket, SD June 24, 2003 an Mulvane.
Simon...how many tornadoes did you see??
Hopefully everyone is ok up there.
We should have gone north and then west rather than northwest through Minot!!!
We're about to cross the border in southeast SK..things look very interesting tomorrow around Regina. The shear will be even more favorable than today near Winnipeg.
Thanks for the info guys!!
Reed---Before these tornados took place the clouds were just awesome -they kept punching higher and higher into the sky.
I watched the one tornado to the north of me (Elie). There was a less formed one to the west of that one (perhaps Oakville). The biggest of them that looked like two that merged into one and that would have been south west of me (perhaps north of Elm Creek). There was a few others west of me that were just lines in the sky and in no way touched down like these three. As an FYI locals here call it a Tornado alley belt. It runs in a line from Oakville to Elie then south though Elm Creek to Carman and includes Fannystelle and Brunkild.
Hope you have sucess in SK!
Reed or Heidi...the grlevelx program on a laptop ...what does one have to do to get a live feed while driving...i feel like i cant safely chase because i have to pick up hotspots in order to see an updated radar.???
I just got HSDPA for my laptop but its shamefully expensive and doesnt work everywhere.. I guess the most extreme would still be a satellite connection but I'm not sure if that would work while driving.
We just got to our hotel in Estevan, SK...our plan is to wake up early and head towards an initial target of Regina...after looking at the morning model runs of course.
Sounds like a good plan Reed! Good Luck!
Good Morning Reed! If you find any interesting cloud formations in around Regina today, let me know ok? Good luck!
Reed, I think your target of Regina is being backed up by EC, and The Weather Network. They both say SK, with MB later joining in. Good luck, and stay safe.
The RUC model looks favorable for southeast SK...but the WRF is doing some weird things with the low-level flow: moving the LLJ way to the east over Manitoba east of the front and instability axis..we're thinking it's because of the proximity of Canada to the edge of the data domain.
Our current plan is to head towards Regina, but to stay close to an east option in case we need fly in that direction (if the WRF verifies).
Look Reed, the tornado maps are getting much better. Everyone, and me are getting excited that this could be a breakthrough. I'm going to do special maps for up there, Afternoon etc. I'll have them up shortly, and post back for you guys.

SOUTHEASTERN SASKATCHEWAN. SOME OF THESE STORMS MAY PRODUCE TORNADOES.
Alright Reed, got the Afternoon map up, valid in an hr or two. Blue is Severe, Dark Red is General Tornado, and Pink is likely. Circle target is where the formula is showing best dynamics. Click my name for the map. Good luck, if you need an evening one, and like that one, let me know.
Environment Canada has tentatively rated the Elie tornado a F3. The RCMP have sealed off the destroyed homes in Elie.
Good luck man!
Could someone please refer me to a good source for canadian data?
Corey, i'm using http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/warnings/sk_e.html for warnings and watches there is a radar on there, and http://www.accuweather.com/canada-radar-local.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=0&site=CXBE&type=R1&anim=0&large=1
Storms north of Moose Jaw are now severe.
Corey,
See my post above from June 21, 2007 @ 11:37 PM
Thanks guys.
There is new Severe Threat in Canada and North America. I located in PA and the Storm Prediction Center Day 4-8 are calling for a possible severe weather outbreak. Where I am we got reports of breif Tornado Touchdowns but nothing was confirmed. When I was at my friends house we saw a Developing Tornado maybe 200 Yards Wide look like a Wedge Tornado we went into woods where we saw it and there were trees down up to 500 and we saw shingles off houses it was probley a EF0. Nice amount o excitement.
I now just know that there is a Severe Outbreak in Northeast in a couple days. We will just see how it turns out.
Check out this website after 2 pm for the afternoon significant weather discussion issued by the Prairie and Arctic Storm Prediction Centre of Environment Canada in Winnipeg/Edmonton covering Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the Arctic.
www.umanitoba.ca/faculties/environment/envirogeog/weather/
Then go to: Weather Data, Weather Bulletins, Weather Discussions, PASPC discussion
I'll be watching for storms from my home in the Queen City - Regina, SK.
Environment Canada has a tornado watch on for us here. And wow is it hot out, and getting hotter!
I captured a nice looking UFO yesterday on video while filming outside. I guess it must have been recharching cause we had a massive lightning storm after.. ;) click name for the vid.
ps: check out the ows chatroom
We're currently in Regina...and can now see towering cumulus along a line from Moose Jaw south to the Border. They are showing substantial vertical development. This is likely some kind of pre-frontal trough. The best shear is just off to the east, so the likely scenario will be that these will develop into supercells and become tornadic as they move into the better shear.
A news station from Regina is meeting up with us in 20 minutes...hopefully they can keep up! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
The mosquitos up here are out of control
hey mitch how about u shut up.. canada rocks..states suck!! booyah baby!!
Hey there Reed~ What currently is your location? Like are you guys on highway #1 say west of Regina, and how far? Where is the news station meeting you? What news station is it? Thanks!
Many people do not realize that The Mosquito is the National Bird of Canada. I believe it's also the State Bird for Alaska and Minnesota, too... in case anyone didn't know this already, that is. :D
Yeah Reed, if my maps are right, valid very soon, about 30 min, the area East of you and South is much better. Around my target if you want a biggie.
Hey Gregory...we're on hwy 6 right now..the news station is CTV..there should be a story on both news casts..and initial story, and then the full one later on tonight..they'll be following while we chase.
Hi Reed,
On your way back up to Regina, if you go, there's a town just off Highway 6 called Roleau [role'oh] where they film Canada's top comedy show Corner Gas shown on CTV. It's on WGN in the States now if you get that station on cable.
I LOVE CORNER GAS!!!!! :)
btw, severe storm watches here now...or is it just south?
Thanks sask!
0-1 km EHIs are in the 7-8 range where winds are backed. Large, violent tornadoes are possible if a storm develops in that enviornment
Check the link in my name on this post to see a little tornado history in the province of Saskatchewan.
Does anybody know a Canadian TV stations which offers live coverage (internet stream) in the areas that have to be considered? Thank you VERY much!
Send some of that weather this way...I'm stuck pulling shingles off the roof.
Sorry no streaming TV that I know of, but CTV newsnet might have something on their site for free. There are streaming radio stations though including a newstalk one at newstalk980.com and country music at 620ckrm.com , and rock thewolfrocks.com and talk news cbc.ca/sask
Thank you :-)
Kevin...we're just monitoring development along the front right now at a wifi location.
As the front slides eastward, we expected initiation east and southeast of Regina..and these storms will move into a good environment.
We'll follow the front as it slides southeast...and will chase any good storm that develops
http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/radar/index_e.html?id=WRN
This is a zoomed-out version of a radar site someone else already posted. You can click on the radar city-sites like you do on the GR3 or others we're more familiar with. Since the action is going to be more wide-spread, I thought this zoomed-out look would make it easier for people to follow the most current main areas of storms.
I'm presuming the live chase tracker doesnt work north of the 49th? :)
The Elie, Manitoba tornado has been re-classified as an F4. This is the first F4 recorded in Canada since 1994 (July 10, near Birtle, Manitoba).
Dynamics and energy look even stronger in Saskatchewan today, so let's hope they don't hit anything but open prairie!
Hi Reed! I have just seen in the Canadian Weather site radar that Moosomin, Sask. in the Southeast is being hit hard right now, and just in the north of the town. Are you near there with your team, and the CTV news team? Thanks!
http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/radar/index_e.html?id=XFW
Reed is southest of Sask. rounding over the Moose Mountains? getting on a tornado warning and he says there is major lowering. If he calls again, I will let you all know what he sees.
Check out the supercells...still early up there.
http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/radar/index_e.html?id=XFW
That storm just north of Moose Mountain park looks amazing.. already has a hook.
That storm shows up on GR3 out of Minot, North Dakota, and a little bit ago it had tops at 65,000 ft. with strong rotation signatures. I wouldn't be surprised if it was really over 70,000 ft, since the readings most likely would have been better if it had been closer to the radar site. They ought to have a good time with this one...
Huge supercell in northern minnesota around the int'l falls areas. Looks pretty nasty to say the least.
buckeye gerb
Heidi:
The Minot radar site is over 120 miles away from the southern supercell.. I know the tops are high, but when it's that far away, it's hard to actually take a good measurement of the storm since the radar would be shooting very high up due to the tilt of the earth.
That storm looks amazing on the Caniadian radar site as well... If there is not a tornado with that then I don't know when there will be one.... Looks like Reed and Dave's long drive is going to pay off!
Matt you should've gone. At least it's not a clear air bust.
Or a blue sky bust!
Yeah, I this is a first.. sitting here kicking myself for not chasing in Canada... I will learn from this and be stronger. I'm currently singing "Ohh, Canada"
In other news, Reed said that it's pretty flat up there, so I'm sure if he doesn't see a tornado, he will still have amazing pics since the storm is looking so good on radar!
Get ready for Reed to give you hell when he gets back into town. BTW, my scar is fading finally! You need to rope it in on the basketball court.
If you still want to go in tv, do all your chasing now, cause unless you are somewhere that they want you to chase, you will be doing what I'm doing right now.
1 more thing....meant to say in that post....good luck reed...go get em and be safe...AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Tornado warning for:
Moosomin-Grenfell-Kipling-Wawota
At 5:20 pm, WEATHER RADAR SHOWED AN INTENSE THUNDERSTORM JUST EAST OF ROCANVILLE TRACKING EAST AT ABOUT 40 KM/H. NICKEL SIZED HAIL WAS REPORTED FROM THIS STORM AT SPY HILL BETWEEN 5:00 AND 5:10 PM. HAIL LARGER THAN GOLF BALLS WAS REPORTED 15 KM EAST OF KENNEDY JUST AFTER 4:30 PM. THIS IS A WARNING THAT SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE IMMINENT OR OCCURRING IN THESE REGIONS. REMEMBER THAT SOME SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE TORNADOES. LISTEN FOR UPDATED WARNINGS. NOTE..A SUMMARY OF ALL WARNINGS AND WATCHES FOR SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN IS AVAILABLE IN THE WWCN13 CWWG BULLETIN ISSUED IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THIS BULLETIN. PLEASE REFER TO THE LATEST PUBLIC FORECASTS FOR FURTHER DETAILS.
Any reports from Canadia yet?
Storm looks absolutely out of control on GRLevel3 on the Minot site, and it is getting closer to that radar. JY, glad to hear that the scar is dissapaiting And yes, i realise that storm chasing would take a huge blow with a tv job, I am interning in the fall at a tv station in okc...
Just saw some new video of yesterdays elie F4 tornado on the weather channel and ..... It has to be some of the most insane tornado video of the year... Major major damage being done in the video. I could understand the F4 rating....poor people.
This board is just that bored. Goes from good information to some kiddy bullshit. If you ever get a different board I'll be back but until then notta. Gotta go thru 80 posts to find some info and half of it is REED, REED, REED sounds like my two year old crying for mommy. Look at some sites, go to NOAA, go to your local news channel, watch the Weather Channel hell you can google something as well. Thats it for me. I'm all reader now.
BUCKEYE GERB
I meant to ask this earlier, but when we're talking about that Elie storm being an F-4, what we're really saying is EF-4, right? I just want to make sure that I'm understanding it correctly, and that Canada isn't still using the former F-scale. (My real hope here is that we are in fact all speaking the same language, in as much as that everyone has reached the point where we really mean "EF-_" when we say simply "F-_," but I wanted to make sure.)
I know they used the fujita scale and the damage assesment is done the same, although i'm not sure that they used the enhanced fujeta scale. But then again the only difference in that is the estimated wind speeds, the damage surveys are the same, so yes it is the same language. First F4 for canada in 14 years!
I wouldn't be surprised if the Gov of Canada is still referring to the fujeta scale, and not the enhanced version. There haven't been many big outbreaks or powerful tornados since the enhanced scale kicked in...no real reason to start properly applying it. I'm not even sure if the Canadian press realizes there is an enhanced scale now, and should be refering to it.
This F4 is a big deal, and very rare!
Zzz we need more livefeeeds!
Matt, thanks, you helped me rephrase my question! Okay. (I knew I was probably going to end up doing this again! :)
It sounds like you're at the same place I am with this - What I really want to know here is wind speed. With this Elie storm, are they saying that the damage was from winds of over 200 MPH (which would be an old F-4), or are we talking about winds of 168-199 MPH (which would be an EF-4)? If anyone knows what the winds were estimated at, that would answer the question! :)
...
To add to the confusion, and I guess to answer my own question, I just found a reference to winds of 417 km/h. http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20070622/tornado_070623/20070623?hub=TopStories
This converts to 259 MPH (417 X 0.62137...), which is only a couple of ticks under the original Fujita's F-5 rating... So, I'm guessing here that Canada is still using the original Fujita, because if those speeds were correct, this would have been an EF-5.
I hope someone out there can verify this ... either way, winds of 259 MPH is, well, INSANE! 8-O
Reed is on a quarter mile tornado right now!
He is freaking out and just said the video is better than May 4th.. up to a 1/2 mile wide.. he was in it's path, he couldn't open the door.. they were getting hit by debris!@
The tornado is still on the ground...he said he couldn't open the door cause the winds were over 100 mph!
In the words of dave holder.... "We are trying to get the best video of all time... got to go" With extreme extreme excitement.
Reed is flipping out right now; apparently he saw 2 large long-track tornadoes, one tornado apparently got real close! He is currently looking for gas, and they might run out!
JY, did he give a location? Anyone know if he's SW of Brandon or North near Minnedosa?
It looks like we're still using the original Fujita scale because we are still quoting the old wind speed estimates. What we (or I should say they, I'm not working for the Gov't this summer) are doing is applying all of the damage research into adjusting the ratings based on buildings construction, etc.
Canadian weather offices are also very, very cautious about pulling the trigger on a violent rating, so it must have been bad out there! As for rarity, we probably get quite a few tornadoes capable of F3/F4 damage, they just don't hit anything. (Google the Pilot Mound, MB tornado of July 2, 2005)
Anyhow, hope they're on that cell that's still chugging away in SW Manitoba (is that an LP supercell to it's west?). If it break 4 hours, it's officially a "long-lived" supercell.
I can't find any dmg reports floating around, but that could change soon!
Ooops! I was a little slow with my reports comment!
Did anything get hit? How long-track are talking, here?
Hey Heidi,
I'm not sure where of their exact location.
I wonder if the Regina CBC TV crew is still following... lol!
I can't wait to see the video!
I was wondering that too Matt!
We he first talked to me on May 4th, he said that was better than Manchester...so when he says that this one is better than May 4th, you know the video is going to be out of control!!
I have absolutely no doubt it is insane, i was talking to dave and i've never heard a person sound like that. That has to be one of the most satisifying feelings in the world, haha.... 27 hour drive to Canada..... Insane video of large longtrack tornadoes!
THAT STORM LOOKS LIKE MAY 3RD ON THE MINOT RADAR!!!!!!!!!!
I hope they found gas! Appearantly the college of dupage chase team is on it too.
Forecast verified!
Well I'm satisfied. Great video from Reed, and now storms firing south of me :)
They had to leave the storm to get gas currently, but they are trying to get back on it.
THey got gas in the town of Squirt and now are back on the road. The news crew ditched them.
This is exactly how my maps said guys. You heard me say in the beginning, Southern Manitoba EVENING. If interested, I did release the night map 30 min ago. It targets North Dakota, and it looks like Cavalier County, North Dakota! Its a smallish pink area, but it is a large area. I think it will be there in the states. Please click my name for the night map.
man, I know the exact area it would hit before it hit. I feel so helpless. You don't understand what it has felt like doing these maps, and not having people see THEY WORK.
Ok, based on the reports now coming in, the guys are probably on Hwy 2, somewhere between Pipestone and Souris.

http://www.gov.mb.ca/tgs/map/index.html
That's great that your maps worked.. but so did other peoples forecasts.
This is incredible ... I took out 20 minutes from following this to deal with a tick infestation on my dog (don't ya love the Ozarks ...) and come back to THE BEST FOOTAGE OF ALL TIME. Holy Cow! :D
My dog looks really ridiculous now too. He's an Australian Shepherd and I had to cut off all the hair around his legs. I'm sure all of your evenings were hinging on those details, of course! :D
I hope they get their video on TV by the 10:00 news. I wanna see it NOW!!!!! :D
Reed just called and said they saw a tornado - winds were so strong he could not open the car door - they have a broken windsheild - then we were disconnected - but they are OK!!!
All hes saying is how helpless he feels watching this happen when he forecasted it with his forecast hours ago...canadian weather did not forecast this as bad.....i totally see where hes coming from...what he said is not a pat on the back or anything like that...he feels helpless seeing people get hurt
Where are they?? I have family in Southern Manitoba!!!
So is chasing over for the night? They're losing light anyways, but still, if they're anywhere near Oak Lake, Manitoba, the storms look great for producing more action.
Hey Heidi,
If you have access to 10% Carbaryl or 10% Sevin Dust, it works great on ticks. Dries them right up and then you can brush them out the next day.
Hope everyone is staying safe out there.
I really think theyre gonna chase this thing all nite.....AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
There were 2 tornadoes located east of Souris near Pipestone along highway 2.
TORNADO WARNING FOR THE CITY OF WINNIPEG AS OF 9:08 PM CDT!!!!!AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
TORNADO WARNING FOR THE CITY OF WINNIPEG AS OF 9:08 PM CDT!!!!!AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Matt... I can't save any velocity images from NWS Minot radar! Can you?
158 Gate to gate velocity couplet.... not too shabby!
Yeah, i'm using BV1 on Grlevel3
I'm looking forward to seeing this video. Weekend's not over either.
Matt...I can't save any reflectivity images either! I gotta update my graphics for my show tonight anyways! I''m going to talk about the tornadoes in Canada!
JY sorry, i thought you said see, yeah i can save them, and have been doing so.
JY sorry, i thought you said see, yeah i can save them, and have been doing so.
Watching that storm system that Reed is tracking coming in from the west while I have a beer in my front yard. Lots of lightening, heavy thunder and the air is a dead calm. It's still in the distance as I am between hwy 2 &1 south of Elie. The clouds look very exciting to the south west of where I am.
Talked to Reed about 30 minutes ago, they filled up with gas, and could see the base again driving back south through the eastern part of the core. He said a softball cracked the Hyundai's upper right part of windshield. Daylight is till like 11 pm up there.....
Hopefully they are still bagging tubes!
By the way, TV.net is absolutely dominating 2007 in seeing tornadoes in North America, I think maybe in 2008 they need to chase South America. I can't think of anyone who has seen more tornadoes this year, and from up close.
Does anyone know if Reed has seen a F3 or F4 tornado around the area where he is yet? Thanks!
Gregory, it's possible that he has, but we won't know until EC (I'm assuming it will be them) has analyzed the damage, probably tomorrow.
Dick M: Sunset/end of daylight is more like 9:30 - 10pm in this part of Manitoba. Not 11pm. It's dark out now with the cloud cover.
Ok...Tornado Warning ended for me......Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect as storms trample through the city......small hail outside!
was driving homr from Brandon when the tornados started to form two small ones seemed to have touched down and then the big one started right beside us it seemed we got the strong winds and lots of heavy rain but stayed out of its way .We were travelling east on highway 2 at about 7:15pm was something we had never seen before it was really strange. It seemed to pass right behind us.
Just saw some short but AWESOME tornado footage on TWC. Unfortunately, it looked like some of them were damaging houses, but one of them was so close you could hear it!
Those tornadoes I mentioned were from today's storms btw.
Reed got video today, right???????????????

This has been an enjoyable read. At times I felt that tornado excitement just from reading about their experiences and all the warnings.
Kevin - Your enthusiam is great, but some times you might just come off a little arrogant and abrasive. I am sure you are great and am hoping have developed a great forcasting ability. According to you and some others who do click on your name to read your maps, you have been dead on. I encourage you to use your skills to do big things. Go to the audience that matters, not this message board, to tell everybody the danger when it is there. I have to say I did laugh my ass off when I read what Ron mexico said, because you just come off too intense for this audience and it is a major whip to read your posts. No disrespect intended.
I'm in Australia, it's 3pm Sunday here and i just saw awesome footage of a tornado in Canada. It's made the news here so it must have been a grand evening! Wonder if it was Reeds footage..
Sounds like Reed scored big time again today! Way to go Reed + chase team!
hey reed and gang... im new to your sight, but im very impressed with the thouroghness of your site, pics, and footage. Not to mention your knowledge. Ive been an amatuer storm chaser for 15 years now. I got interested after the F-4 tornado hit Edmonton 20 years ago... that day was very much like yesterday in manitoba. Keep up the great work guys.
Reed and crew, Im glad we (Regina and area) could help out by having something happen to payoff your long journey!
Had I only known...I would have had you pick me up on the way out of Regina!!!
I have a feeling our area isn't done, though.
Stay safe on the rest of your journeys.
