Saturday, May 5, 2007 will likely be day remembered by storm chasers and residents of the Central Plains for the rest of their lives. We don't have time to get into detail, since we need to get in position EARLY for this event...the models are forecasting extreme instability and wind shear by noon, with tornadic supercells firing along the dryline by early afternoon. The SPC issued a high risk for western/central KS for this dangerous outbreak.

When do you expect the start of the outbreak?
I wish I could go with u guys to check tornado's...absolutely a beautifull thing of Mother Nature!!
Less beautifull cause it damages so much...but..can't help it, I love 'm !!

Greetings from a country wich doesn't even have little storms!!
Early afternoon ... my fault ... sorry ;|
Hi Sjoerd, greetings from a German neighbour :) .
This should be one for the books! Get some good stuff and stay safe. I'll be keeping an eye out!
What about tommorrow?
Thank you so much for being able to bring us such awesome video and information on what goes on out there! You guys totally rock! Hope to be able to go on a chase with you someday, it's one of the things on my "I want to do" list! Stay safe today and good luck!
Yeah....I second that.....just stay safe....I think you really don't need to get any closer than you did yesterday.....unless I was in your truck! HA! It's going to be a long day....Wish I could be there with you guys. God Bless!
Do risk getting too close to one of those Wedge tornados tornado. Those poor people of Kansas won't forget last night or today for a long time to come. BE SAFE!
Wes, Reed & all. I provide coverage over at AOL Weather Chat. Any info you guys can give me on this major outbreak today. email me at
MDSONG@aol.com
and I will pass it along to the people on AOL.
Thanks
Ya, wedge tornados can be kind of dangerous if you get to close - they contain so much power. But Reed, you are the experienced one, get as close as you need to! I know i would get as close as possible if i was out there, but knowing that i will most likely die from chasing storms! you don't need to die Reed, we need you allive!
There is aerial footage now on KSN.com of the Greensburg area.
Stormtrack has now closed off all guest usage due to overusage which caused the page to "crash" between 11pm to 11am today. Only registered users can get into the forecast page in the forums. Does anyone have another website that chasers use that gives great info?
Second, great interview on CNN Reed!!! I noticed that at the beginning of your segment when they were showing only the video, they had your web address wrong. They got it corrected by the time your interview began.
Hi Reed - It's Lauren from CBS. I just sent you an email. Can you pls get in touch with me when you have a chance? Thanks!
Reed had a CNN interview? Wicked!!!!!! youtube that!
I was in the May 3rd tornado in 1999 in Midwest City,my son's birthday is Msy 3rd and it is a reminder every year for me,I lost my home, animals etc,I hope no more fatalities happen but tis un-eventful!
convection is firing on the dryline in west kan. about to get interesting again
I'd love to see the interview. Is there any footage online?
As for today...looks like its firing up all over Kansas. Is Greensburg in the path of this violent weather?
Danny, it looks like Greensburg is in danger again today, along with the rest of western Kansas
A storm in Nebraska is now tornado warned.
My uncle works at the John Deere dealership in Greensburg and he said it's all totally destroyed. Also, looks like it's starting already again today. Glad I live in southern Oklahoma now. Too bad my family lives in that area.
For everybody that didnt catch it yesterday...we have a chat set up for all the users of the website...so we dont have to put comments every 5 seconds...if u werent there last nite boy did u ever miss out....looks like today is going to be even worse though...heres the link...http://www.quickfreehost.com/chat/chat.html
Take care today, guys. Seriously.
The chat closed on me and I cant get back in guys, is anyone else having a problem?
Wow, hardly ever see that designation for the outlook picture. Hope you guys get some great tornadoes on film for us to see, but stay safe.
We've been getting storms for the last few days, though none have been really too severe. Many people around here are watching the radar intently to see if the storms will affect the Derby today though, I imagine.
Is any of the video for sale? I do many presentations to schools, corporate groups etc. and I am always looking for good tornado video.
Thanks!

Hey Rich,
You can check out the tornadovideos.net ebay sales (on the front page). You can also email Reed (reed@tornadovideos.net) for more info. He is chasing right now, and he probably won't get a chance to check out the comments for a while.
How does it feel to be famous, reed? Your the top story on cnn lol seriously their saying your footage was "the Most vivid tornado footage in history"!! Cause you were so close, not too many people have gotten that close before. Amazing stuff!!
Greensburg tornado was sooooo unbelieveablly WIDE!! They showed a pic of it on cnn, it just looked un-real, the width was un-believeably huge!!
Good luck chaseing today, looks like today could be one of the best chaseing days of tha year!!
I've always dreamed of going out with a storm chasing team. It would be so exciting to me, to see a tornado that close up. The storms are beautiful and magnificent, yet so devastating. Stay safe out there guys. Get some great footage for the world to see :-)
Thanks! It's obvious now. I was looking for a tab on top. Keep up the great work!
Rich, we will also be getting a store on the site very soon.
Check out the clip on CNN.

I'm keeping track of the events from Tyneside, UK.
Stay safe guys!!
INCREDIBLE interview and video guys! WOW. THat is just breathtaking! Please, be safe, have fun, and enjoy!
WOOT! Some folks must be praying for you guys! Awesome footage.
Awesome video. Having grown up in Tornado Alley, and live in Oklahoma, I'm fascinated with these things, yet give them a very healthy respect as well. We watched this thing on live streaming video as it happened. This past evening produced more of these things in aprox the same area of Oklahoma and I hear the next couple of days will be just as eventful.I would love to do a ride along sometime!
Awesome work. Be safe. can you mention the distance you are from the storms as you are filming.
