Yet another supercell has exploded off the mountains in extreme northeast Mexico west of Del Rio, and has shown a consistent, very strong couplet on radar.  This location has likely experienced a record number of tornadoes this year...it's disappointing we can't even approximate how many tornadoes they've had.  Here is the radar image from Del Rio from around 6:45 pm CDT.  Note the INTENSE couplet in the second image!

wow ok I'me gussing It's an EF3 Reed that is very
stong outbound inbound cuplet. the SPC should issue a
tornado warning with a 70% chance of a tornado on the ground.

Hi Reed! I agree with you, that area must be having a record number of tornadoes this year!

Also, I'd like to say that I'm sorry your planned chase for today didn't turn out as planned. Too bad we're too far away from you guys in Oklahoma, as us here in Southern Manitoba are under a tornado watch! Storms are predicted to start EXPLODING SOON! I'll keep you posted on our situation here, and let you know of any tornadoes that may occur! See ya for now , though it's likely that I'll post again soon! I'm so excited!!!!!!!!!!!w00t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reed,

Any photos of the tornado that preceded the EF5 in Greensburg? You mentioned that that it was possibly bigger and stronger

Reed......I was right! Southern Manitoba is currently becoming very active! Storms are EXPLODING, and stoms from ND are moving in! There are warnings in effect as of now. That's one update. I'll continue to post!

Reed I have still been wondering what the big news id that you were announcing lol. I feel like I was unsure what you considered big. Was it the old F5 footage? Or the use of your video for scientific research? Or the forums ?

Thanks, Reed. Well, here's update #2:

Storms are still redeveloping along the line, and moving towards Winnipeg. Storms should be here in a few hours. Once again, w00t!!!!!!

Storm Update #3:

I'm a bit confused now. We're getting the main line of storms heading towards us in Winnipeg from the SW, and storms developing South of us and heading north. These seem as if they will converge near us. What will this do? enhance storms? Dissipate storms? Can somebody please help me here? If u need to see a radar image to figure out what I mean, please let me know! Thanks, and see ya for now!

Jonathan,

It could briefly intensify the storms as outflow boundaries converge and locally enhance updrafts...but I wouldn't expect any tornadic activity.

ANOTHER MEXICAN TORNADO?? Comment Posted By Jonathan | May 22, 2007 @ 12:06 AM #

Thanks, Reed, once again. I wasn't expecting tornado activity from this convergence either. I just think the storms are acting strange. First, the intensify, and warnings are issued, then they weaken, and warnings are dropped, so on and so forth, again, and again! Now, a new East-West stretching band, moving North towards us, has formed! It's doing the same thing, and I am thinking there is a chance after all the Winnipeg could get a Severe T-storm Warning. We'll have to wait and see! (That was also Update 4. lol)

Update 5:

The storms main threat now seems to be hail, as there are many hail reports, even up to 1.50" in diameter near Morris, Manitoba(where a lot of my distant family lives). The cells continue to track towards Winnipeg

Here they come! There is a lot of intense lightning and loud thunder, right now!

Would you ever consider taking a quick vacation over the border? I've never been to the area, so I don't know how porous it is, but it doesn't look to be too far. Probably would be a good idea to let everyone know your plans (a tornado chasing gringo would probably catch the eye of some enterprising folks), but it would be a cool trip.

Caleb, Watch KS Tonight. Conditions are very simaler to the Greensburg EF5 Tornado, and they are accully in the same place, so who got hit by the event last time, it appers Round 2 is tonight.
