While it's likely not yet worth discussing, I can't handle posting about the potential for Tuesday, May 22, especially given the boring weather pattern we are currently experiencing.  Here are the 500 mb and 850 mb GFS forecasts for 7 pm on Tuesday, with the region of severe weather risk highlighted in blue.

As seen above, a 40+ kt diurnal low-level jet (bottom panel) is forecast to be in place from Oklahoma north to southwest Ontario, with more than sufficient upper-level flow for supercells.  The models have been consistent in forecasting a more amplified trough, extending much further south with each consecutive run.  If the above model run verifies, the region from northeast KS to southwest Ontario could be in for a major tornado outbreak.  Stay tuned for more updates!

We'll be out in full force with the Yahoo Task force. We'll be eyeing you guys, making sure you follow our ethics. Only WE are allowed to contradict ourselves by stopping in the middle of the highway to film a storm. We invented the atmosphere, we invented storm chasing, you get the drill.

Caleb
They have a certian type of dome construction made out of sand bags. These dome houses are hurricane and tornado proof. Of course there is stucco and building materials on the outside of the sand bags, but they are pretty cool! They have an incrediable dome in Flordia, I think! There is a video about them on you tube, But I cant remember what they are called! Check it out!

Can they deflect debris from other non weatherproof homes?

Apparently they are pretty solid structures from what I just read. on the Wikipedia website they say a mosque was hit with a 5000lb bomb and was still structurally intact.

You crack me up Reed! You've just had an insane outbreak of tornado activity and supercells and ya get a couple of weeks lull and it's boring?!!!!! Man, you should live here for 6 months of the year - we get nothing but dry sunny days of 32C!!!!!

send me some convection!
