The surface winds unexpectedly backed to a more southerly direction in extreme northeastern AR, creating conditions more favorable for tornadic activity. The front was also moving more slowly in this region, allowing for any supercells to turn right and move southeastward away from the boundary. A tornado warning was issued for Clay County in eastern AR at 5:25 pm CDT...however, the couplets on these storms have yet to tighten and strengthen.

So far there have been no damage reports. This is a pretty rural area - big rice country - so hopefully if anything is confirmed it isn't a big deal damage wise.
Tornado reported in Clay Co...not sure I believe it..it looked like those storms were gusting out at the time. The isolated cell northwest of Memphis looks interesting though.
Already spotted 3 TDS in Arkansas...good thing it's a rural area!
KAIT-8 Jonesboro is reporting a tornado SE of Jonesboro right now. They have live video on currently and law-enforcement reported it, but no confirmed damage.
There is now a confirmed damage report from Jonesboro. An industrial complex was hit, but so far no injuries reported.
can someone put the ark tornado video up on youtube if they have it?
I should have re-worded my message up there; KAIT-8 had live video up with HOPES of capturing a tornado or funnel, but all they could manage to spot were some "roiling clouds" they played in time-lapse. They have something called Stadium Cam which is situated somewhere high-up on the Arkansas State University football stadium, and they can point it in I guess any direction. That is what they were using at the time I said they had the live video. I do not think they ever did spot a funnel with it, because by the time they got it pointed in the right direction, the area of interest was pretty much shrouded in rain. But it is a very nice feature to have, since, given the flat Delta terrain, you can see for quite a long distance.
Also, I believe there may be some speculation at this point as to whether this was a tornado or a microburst. The damage occurred while there was only a severe thunderstorm warning issued, and the guys at K-8 got their velocity scope on it pretty quick after the report came in, and weren't really picking up any rotation. So I guess it will be left to the NWS to have the final say.
It turns out there was a video of the tornado in Jonesboro, the link for which is below. It's attached to a news story by KAIT-8.
