Severe wx today over central U.S.

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a moderate risk today across portions of Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, and extreme northeast TX.  However, today does not look favorable for tornadoes, and will primarily be a wind/hail event.  Given unidirectional shear profiles and strong forcing along the cold front, a squall line and several smaller linear convective structures will develop in the outlook area.

Given the very low chances for tornadoes, we will not be chasing in the Mississippi River Valley today.  Rather, we will be watching north-central and northeast TX for explosive convective development later this afternoon and evening.  The tornado potential here is still very low, but we will likely see some massive hail.
Stay tuned for updates.

What do ya'll think about the tornado threat in Middle TN for later this evening? This is my first time posting on this site because I just found it the other day. I actually have a fear of tornado's because I've been involved in 2 direct hits with both of them being at night and on the same day 5 years apart. Lucky for me though they were both F2 so they didn't completely destroy the house and apartment I was living in at the time. Well ya'll have a safe afternoon.

Sweet site for us weather lovers. Looking promising in Columbus Ohio for some pretty good storms later on tonight. Keep up the good work and stay safe out there.

Yep. It's for northeastern Cumberland County in east central Illinois and western Clark County in east central Illinois until 1:15 pm CDT. At 12:46 pm CDT NWS Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado 16 miles west of Martinsville or about 5 miles northeast of Toledo moving east at 30 mph.

They just broke in on tv with a tornado warning for northern Washington county in Illinois. Looks like it might be interesting around here after all.

Just radar indicated so far right? Nothing confirmed by pd or spotters I take it. I work at 5 and that looks like near the time of the storms although I think they will hold off in Columbus til after dark. Be Safe

Been keepin an eye on the Tornado warnings area. I don't see any TDS yet on Nexrad. Not a whole lot of rotation going on, but hopefully I'll see something!

Hi David...the greatest tornado threat (albeit very small) is later this evening around and just after 7:00 pm for a few hours over western KY and TN...You should definitely stay tuned to local media..but don't panic!!! The chances are minimal.
