Sadly, 10 people lost their lives from a violent tornado that originated in northeast Mexico and crossed the border into Texas south of Del Rio. The towns of Eagle Pass, TX and Piedras Negras, Mexico were the hardest hit, and tornado warnings were not issued for the Mexican side of the border! This supercell likely produced several long-track tornadoes in northeast Mexico before crossing into Texas. I will post radar images of this supercell shortly.

Meanwhile, a cold-core tornado event is possible today in extreme northeast OK, southeast KS, southwest MO, and northwest AR, as well as a few tornadoes ahead of a squall line in the western/central Gulf Coast Region. Stay tuned for updates!

Nice chase yesterday. I would love to see more video of just the structure of that LP Supercell yesterday. Must have been an awesome view. I tracked it on radar and it seemed to just sit there forever. You could have chased it with your bike :) Are you guys gonna head out again today while the gettin's good?
Very nice chase. Yesterday was crazy! It was cool to follow the storms. I printed out one of the radar images that detected a tornado outside of San Antonio last night. I keep the picture at my work desk. lol
I got images of that storm it was a monster!
Well, at least we have another week before the next round of storms :)
Poor people must be completely suprised by that tornado.
I'd like to see some radar images of that storm.
btw: The storm close to Garnett is getting pretty strong
Reed,
What do you think are the chances of severe weather tonight in the Middle TN area? I think you give good insight into what's going on so I would appreciate your thoughts. I hate storms but like to know about them well in advance.
Looks like Central Illinois is taking the brunt with a few prob. low topped super cells producing tornadoes confirmed near Springfield. Hope all is well in Texas and those victims get the help they need.
Shoot just get home from school turn on Comp and find out Tornado Warnings just north of me about an hour arg :( anyone think some will develop more south towards St.Louis
Hey does any one know if the storms in southwest MO will make it up to St.Louis or will they die out?
Wow, the situation of no tornado warnings in Mexico is a bit scary. It's kinda like the 2004 earthquake/tsunami that killed over 200,000 people in multiple countries - it happened in a place that is not general for them to happen, and when it did, it's almost with no warning and quite a punch. Same way with the tornadoes that hit in England and also a city in northern Japan that killed 10 people last year(and almost like the mesocell that hit while I was in Tokyo about four years ago - very nasty and a report of a funnel cloud by the metropolis, don't even want to think if a tornado had gone through _that_ populated of a city...).
No one in other countries has it in their minds like we do in the US that tornadoes can occur in any place at any time in a bad enough cell.
But enough rambling, hopefully there will be some good tornadoes the next time everyone goes to chase...
David: The models are showing the convective line to move into extreme western TN around midnight. The wind shear will be sufficient for tornadoes, but the instability will be marginal. The storms will also likely organize into a line by that time...so I'd say the chances are VERY low you will get any tornadoes over there tonight.
CRAZY low-topped supercell situation in IL right now!
