Sounds like it'll be a busy day.
Wish I could be there.
Stay safe!
Looks like you won't have to go far today....I sure hope we don't see a wedge move through a populated area this afternoon.
we've got rotation! NW of your position...watch the sky!
The cell near Lawton is the one to watch right now. It could veer more toward OKC with time. Yikes.
That's right! it's incredible how it blew up (SW oops)
Well....well.....Here we go!! We could have a record today of strong to severe tornadoes. Fellas...be careful out there....I just hope we do not lose any lives today...This stuff is awesome but when human life is taken, it isn't really fun anymore! Hopefully this storm keeps enough luster when it gets to Ohio later this week..."Let's Roll!"
Hey, could anyone who already has GRLevelX radar tell me if the download takes a long time & if it slows down other stuff on your machine? Or anything else relevant. I want to download it asap but don't want to have my computer messed up for the rest of the day, especially not on a day like this. Thanks.
No clue Heidi....but....I would bet that the file is huge...and that is why your computer is slowing down....you may need more space??
Heidi I haven't had any problems with it slowing down my computer, and it downloaded in seconds for me.
I haven't tried the download yet - I'm trying to see from anyone who has it already if it is likely to slow other things down or mess stuff up in any way. But thanks anyway, Heath. :)
Connor, do you have Level 2, Level 3 or Analyst?
That cell sw of OKC is moving pretty quick.
I have level 3
Heidi, I downloaded level 3 on Sunday, and I love it so far, haven't noticed any slowdown.
The cells seem to be taking a more linear shape, when should we expect them to become supercellular?
thanks everyone; i think I will go download level 2 now.
I noticed the linear thing developing too ... but that cell sw of OKC is really exploding though, getting up to close to 50,000 ft
Well im on stormlab and we have a possible tornado forming NW of Throckmorton Tx shows a very intense storm moving NE towards Archer City
Hey guys.....Where do I get GRLevelX?? I would like to see what's up with that! Thanks for the help!
Here's the link for GRLevelX. I misspoke a sec ago - I'll get level 3, not 2, cause 2 is just archival data & 3 is live.
http://www.grlevelx.com/
This is what Reed uses, if i am not mistaken.
Thanks so much Heidi!! It's going to be a GREAT afternoon and evening....Hopefully no fatalities!
Wow, didn't take long for that line to fire up... 0_0 I see that Reed and everyone are heading that way now so hopefuly they will catch the storms enough to see some good tornadoes.
Are you going to head to TX to see about the storms there, Reed? Or stay around OK City?
Heidi,
is that 3d modelling live on GR2Analyst?
in case it is... im gonna get it :P
Anyone know how dfw is looking now? weather.com has lowered precip chance from 60 to 40 percent
GRLevel3 is what i just downloaded. It didn't take long and is pretty impressive. it will take a while to get used to all the images available and how to use it in general, but what better day to do that, huh?
oops, I guess i didn't answer you, Cors. Level 2 is archived data only, as far as I can tell.
THX Heidi :)
How do I make it live? It's taking 5 minutes to update.
How do I make it 3d also?
I am not sure about either of those questions; i just downloaded mine. But I do know that they have some kind of help desk thing, which I think you can access at the main website for GRX. I am not sure that you can do 3D with level 3, though.
i just wanted to know the same thing as Jeri, are yall staying up near tulsa and OK or headed towards DFW? I'm eager to see if the storms tonight touch off tornado's like last week here in Dallas.
I figured it out, the GR2Analyst is the input from the GRLevel output. You can then take that and turn it into a 3d image. This software is pretty cool.
With these guys being in KS, I hope they make it in time, those storms in OK are really brewing up.
Man this stuff gets my blood pumping, I would love to be a storm chaser.
Love the site guys, keep up the good work and be careful.
Guys, Live here in Dallas, just got home from school to find cells already going off.
I had winds heading toward the storm, still about 20 miles away going at about 35-40 MPH, These things got inflow.
It seems as if they're driving away from OK, any reason?
Tornado Warning for Jonhson County Radar Detected a Developing Tornado
OH SHOOT, I had the tornado warned cell maybe moving at me! This isnt good.
get out your camera and shoot it david. Thats what i'd me doing right now, stay safe.
Tornado warnings right near Dallas/Ft. Worth area! Looks like the line is picking up a little bit more down there.
Then again, it's still early in the afternoon, I'm thinking the storms will really fire up in eastern OK, KS, TX and points around there as the afternoon passes.
Probley better then here in the Ohio River Valley, there's a stationary front draped along the Ohio River basically, so it'll be mostly lines of drenching rain and storms for the next few days. Oh well, southeast of here has drought conditions anyway, so it will be useful.

Joel and I are heading to KS for development in the next few hours along the dryline. We noticed the Ok storms were going linear, so we had to choose between chasing ahead of the line in ne TX or the dryline in KS where the atmosphere is untainted by linear convection....our friends are about to get on the storm northeast of Denton. Hopefully we didn't make the wrong decision...

Storms are about to pop to the west of Salina and Wichita....if they fire this could be HUGE.
With 2-3 times the low level fuel as compared to yesterday and a much better more profilic sheer profile it's going to be bad.
Scary thing is, it's only 2:43PM....

Sitting here at home at Norman waiting to see if the dryline refires out in western Oklahoma... 4km WRF had supercells erupting along it around 0z and it is clear out to my west ATTM. We'll see...
I don't think this storm will get to tulsa.
My chase partner is in Russel Kansas right now. We have a live camera feed going right now. Towering Cumulus, and the paramters are all centered right over him. It is looking like a good day for tornadic development.
