The SPC has issued a high risk for this afternoon for central and eastern TX, with a moderate risk still extending into KS.  Two areas of strong tornado risk are highlight: central/eastern KS and central/eastern TX.  We are currently monitoring developing storms to the west of Salina, KS, while tornadic cells are ongoing in the DFW Metroplex.  VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION!

Yes I noticed that, I have seen one report so far out of Colorado that 5 tornados were on the ground. There has also been one report of a tornado in Texas. Looks like a second line of severe storms could form and move through Oklahoma later this evening. It is going to be interesting to see how this all plays out.

High Risk issued by SPC!! Comment Posted By Gene Yates | April 24, 2007 @ 3:48 PM #

SOunds likes its only gunna get worse according to the NWS these storms here in dallas have busted the cap and they are saying torando are more faverable now so every 1 just stay ready for anything they say it can blow up in no time

High Risk issued by SPC!! Comment Posted By David Reimer | April 24, 2007 @ 3:50 PM #

Guys, Im back. I evacuated the area and picked my sister up from school. Yes, This is looking interesting. Keep us updated Reed!

DFW Thunderstorm's weakening

High Risk issued by SPC!! Comment Posted By Gene Yates | April 24, 2007 @ 4:12 PM #

dont get fooled its still early and they say the worst might still not be here

High Risk issued by SPC!! Comment Posted By Kenny Allen | April 24, 2007 @ 4:18 PM #

Severe Outlook area moved a bit... everything is moving into eastern KS.

Looks like Reed is in almost the same position as my chase partner Kory Hartman. (If spotter network and Reed's GPS is correct) Kory is on 282 North of Wilson, KS... new cell is really starting to build there.
Camera feed is still working.

Supercell exploding near Cd. Acuna corner with Del Rio. TX

High Risk issued by SPC!! Comment Posted By J-Man | April 24, 2007 @ 4:36 PM #

Tons of little cells all over the St.Louis Area they pop up then die down fast why cant they be Severe :( we never get any of the good stuff

High Risk issued by SPC!! Comment Posted By mandy | April 24, 2007 @ 4:40 PM #

greg - do you think the storms from the del rio area are the ones that are supposed to heard to DFW area?

High Risk issued by SPC!! Comment Posted By Connor | April 24, 2007 @ 4:42 PM #

Yeah I'm wondering if that stuff SW of DFW is supposed to intensify and hit us hard

High Risk issued by SPC!! Comment Posted By David Reimer | April 24, 2007 @ 4:50 PM #

No. The Del Rio storms have no relation to us at DFW. Storms will refire along the dryline/cold front and ahead of it. There is a cell in Palo Pinto county right now. But it appers weather in the DFW Area may be over.

High Risk issued by SPC!! Comment Posted By Joe | April 24, 2007 @ 4:59 PM #

I was looking at Kenny's web cam and there looked to be a pretty low wall cloud, can't tell if anything is on the ground. thats some amazing technology Kenny!

High Risk issued by SPC!! Comment Posted By mandy | April 24, 2007 @ 5:01 PM #

ok...but if they storms are "over " then why do they tell us there will be more at 8? i suppose the dry line fires up more correct? hows it looking up in KS and OK?

High Risk issued by SPC!! Comment Posted By Gene Yates | April 24, 2007 @ 5:06 PM #

thats cause its not over storms are firing back up west and southwest they are going to be very intest as there is no more cap to help us out they said sence that cap is gone when these storms pop they can produce a tornado at any time.

High Risk issued by SPC!! Comment Posted By Gene Yates | April 24, 2007 @ 5:09 PM #

if you look at the radar more super cells are blowing up along the dry line this may get very ugly here soon lost of wind shear aloft to fule these stoms so dont get fooled just cause its not storming at your house.

High Risk issued by SPC!! Comment Posted By J-Man | April 24, 2007 @ 5:18 PM #

Hey Gene what does it look like in the way of severe up in St.Louis you think we will get some or what do you think will happen?

High Risk issued by SPC!! Comment Posted By Cory | April 24, 2007 @ 5:25 PM #

Looks like that cell that Reed is on in up in Elsworth is starting to fire and ust went SVR.

High Risk issued by SPC!! Comment Posted By Gene Yates | April 24, 2007 @ 5:26 PM #

I havent been able to look J-Man iv been busy following these storms here in the DFW area and as we speak 3 TVS popped up 2 in Denton County and 1 in Erath County if i get the chance ill look that way but this is a very dangerous situation here in the DFW area.

A mesocyclone is an area of vertically oriented atmospheric rotation (usually but not always cyclonic) that is most often associated with a localized low pressure region within a severe thunderstorm. The phenomenon is normally relatively localized in nature lying between the synoptic scale (hundreds of kilometers) and small scale (hundreds of meters).

In layman's terms, the mesocyclone is a rotating updraft within a severe thunderstorm around 5 to 10 miles in diameter, that usually spins in the same direction as low pressure systems for a given hemisphere.

Kory tells me that he has another tornado/or large funnel cloud. Keep watching the stream... it should come up.

And yes... that was a large tornado that you just saw a few minutes ago.

Please post any comments about problems, issues with the stream, technical difficulties, or suggestions at our site. WE ARE MAXING OUT OUR SERVER... ITS GOING TO COST US A LOT THIS MONTH! HAHAH. We probably need an upgrade after today. That is why it buffers sometimes.

Hey Gene: Any reports of damage in the DFW area? I haven't heard any reports yet of definite tornadoes.

Heidi: Keep an eye to the sky tonight...things could get crazy in the Ozarks later tonight.

Hope no one will be hurt tonight...it must be frightening to hear alarms in the night! How can you see if a tornado is coming? We don't really have tornadoes here, but i hope i'll see one someday!

Hey Reed, there are some damage reports in Flower Mound, which is a few miles north of DFW airport. They still aren't sure if it was a small tornado or just straight line wind though.

Keep it up u guys tornadoes rule! (of course until they kill people and do devestating dmg)

thats some bad news. the last two nights there have been some nasty storms roll from mexico towards del rio, eagle pass.

anyways, upper level low might cause some storms to build in central ok tonight. cape is strengthening on ruc and all it may need is the upper convergence

Reed, there were several twisters reported, and I started get concerned about the one in Tarrant county around 9:45, since I live in Plano. All I have heard about is some minor roof damage in Flower Mound, and a few other towns that i don't remember.

SW Texas looks like it will be in for a big night especially San
Antonio it looks like a hook has formed or is forming and is headed near there.

hopefully if a tornado has formed it is small or it dicipates before it reaches there hope for the best

And no, stocks1984, we were not issued a tornado warning, but it did come close. And we got A LOT of heavy rain.

High Risk issued by SPC!! Comment Posted By matt | April 24, 2007 @ 10:45 PM #

Nevermind the possible hook i saw seems to be diminishing. but its still a very severe storm and could still spawn a twister..

Reed on ur llive storm tracker it says it dosconnected where are u headed?? are u packed up and done for the night or what?

Second hook possibly just SW of the one i was talking bout..looking to hit Piedras Negras, Mexico. Sad 2 tornAdoes
in one night possibly.worst part is they have been hit once alrdy now they have hardly any shelter and may not be prepared if tornado blew down sirens and what not.
