The same storm system that produced tornadoes in Texas, exploded into a historic Nor'easter that has been battering the Northeast U.S. this weekend with record-setting rainfall, snowfall, and wind. 7.81 inches of rain fell in Central Park from Sunday morning through Monday morning, shattering the old record of 1.8 inches in 1906. Up to 17 inches of snow fell in Vermont, and winds across the entire region gusted well over 50 mph. The storm has stalled over New England, but should move into the Atlantic by mid-week.

Sheesh, all the extreme weather is happening east of me. The Cascades really protect North Idaho from all the storms. Sometimes that really sucks. LOL
There's a storm growing with intensity just outside of Amarillo, TX. It's grown in the past couple hours. Weather Channel said it's a new big storm brewing. Any tornado possibilities you think?
Hey Wouter & Reed,
Call me Ger. I'm located near Mamaroneck, NY. I tell you what, I'd rather lay down spread eagle in front of a tornado than get rained on like this. Nobody seems to fathom the EXTREME nature of this weather. H20 is coming down from the sky and pelting us in the head. I tried to put a bunch of gel in my hair on Sunday and my hairdo was completely wrecked by the time I got to church. I think this may be a plague from the Lord. Look at all the Yankees pitchers that are suddenly injured. Coincidence?
Tornado Warning in Lubbock, TX! This storm came up out of nowhere. There was nothing but rain before, now they're getting slamemd hard with severe storm weather. A tornado was spotted. You guys out there? lol
TVS outside of Lubbock just popped up. WEatherChannel is telling everyone in Lubbock to seek shelter. Am I the only one watching this storm? dammit. lol
Winds at Mt Washington Observatory...156 mph! That is category 5 hurricane strength and the third highest surface wind ob in ten years! Of course, the wind right now no where near their record of over 230 mph set back in April of 1934.
damn it why this happening today its gonna block out all the weather coverage :( stupid americans and their guns!
no offence Reed...this shit just pisses me off
This is really sad...we definitely need to do something about our gun laws over here.
Ger here again. Man, it's raining like a mofo. Good time to be a flower.
Hahahaha Gerry,
Pretty extreme weather in the USA this year (already)
Here (The Netherlands) it's way to hot for the time of the year. Weather seems to get more and more extreme every year, summers are very dry and hot, and winters with loads of rain and high temperatures. I haven't been able skate on natural ice since 12 years :-(
Hey Gerry,
Where exactly are you located up there?
Do you have any flooding at your location?
We got off pretty lucky in my county here in NJ, u go 30 mins north and west and there is major flooding on going and not supposed to recede until at least late tomorrow nite...people up in Lumberton which is in Burlington county were saying its the worst theyve ever seen...and thats saying a lot being as 2 years ago they had 12 inches of rain in that same area and 3 dams burst in what used to be Medford Lakes...well its no lakes anymore...my fire company got put on standby about an hour ago for our rescue and boat...so this could be a very long couple days...but we got off pretty lucky...some pretty major beach erosion...and coastal flooding but not this major river flooding like theyre having not too far away...
My family is in western MD and they're having the worst winter weather all year - they had a very, very mild winter. This is a place where they usually have at least one big snow of 30" or more, and several others of 20+"... Right now it's a complete blizzard, with winds over 50 MPH. Their electricity has been out several times. It's hard to estimate how much snow they've had, because they say in some places you can still see grass, while in others there are two+ foot drifts. Happy April, right?!
