A historic lake effect event is underway to the east of Lakes Erie and Ontario, with 5+ inch per hour snowfall rates likely in the most intense bands. At 12:30 am EST, a STRONG lake effect band was pounding areas to the east of Lake Ontario near the Tug Hill Plateau, just north of Watertown. 3-5 FEET of snow is possible in this area by Monday morning!!

Here is a webcam from inside the band, http://marcscam.cjb.net/ See the huge collection of snow just ontop of this guys birdfeeder?
It looks like they might have been in and out of the northern side of the band? I bet 10 miles south of Watertown there is 5 feet on the ground.
I could not imagine getting 3-5 feet of lake effect snow! The blizzard we had in Grand Rapids yesterday was intense - it's hard to imagine it being more intense than that. People must get stuck in their houses for days there.
I can't believe what i am still seeing up there... "SOME AREAS HAVE ALREADY EXCEEDED 70 INCHES...OR NEARLY 6 FEET OVER
THE PAST THREE DAYS OR SO. THE LAKE SNOWS WILL CONTINUE TO PILE
UP OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS." NWS Buffalo
Yeah I saw a report of 101 inches near Mexico, NY...with another 2-4 feet possible before it's done. We should be there right now!
I wish I could post some of the illinois snow we got from this Feb 13th system; it's much greater than those Purdue pictures. Cars are pretty much under the snow now.
