Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!!

Related Categories: General
A strong trough centered over the Great Lakes Region and an associated cold front moving across the central U.S. will provide the possibility for severe weather this afternoon over western TN and KY.  As expected for this time of year, instability will be lacking over the area, with CAPEs mainly below 1000 J/kg at peak heating.  Low-level shear will be favorable for tornadoes, but storms will likely have problems remaining discrete along the cold frontal boundary.  The result is the smallest Slight Risk area of the year.  Stay tuned for updates!

Thank you Cors, that's very heavy! If heard about it one or two days ago, but never saw that video.

Yesterday I got to know that a F2 Tornado occured nearby my location (just 2-3 km away) in 2003. At this time I was not such a active weather observer. The Tornado ripped through a forest and fortunatily missed a village.

My opinion is that not much is going to happen and if it does it will be over western Tennesse and western Kentucky but there is a nice line in the ohio area which i dont think much will happen in the way of tornadoes

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By gerb131 | November 5, 2007 @ 2:56 PM #

My buddy who lives outside of Cinci had nickel hail and 62 mph wind gust.

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By Reed | November 5, 2007 @ 3:10 PM #

Where is your location Volker? Germany? I've seen some good tornado pictures/video from there over the years.

The cold front has blasted through OK...I believe it came through here earlier this morning and we're getting intense northerlies now.

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By Matt | November 5, 2007 @ 3:11 PM #

The slight risk area was that for this morning or afternoon im kinda confused here.

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By Reed | November 5, 2007 @ 3:14 PM #

The shear looks very good in Ohio...if these storms were discrete and surface based (which won't happen with no surface-based instability), all hell would be breaking loose.

Man, I can't tell you how hard I was laughing! I think I about fell off my chair. Reed and his team are more of celebs than any of us, and they have a map showing exactly where they are located at every second of the day pretty much! That just made my day man. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. But no disrespect Caleb, just funny man!

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By Matt | November 5, 2007 @ 3:40 PM #

the funny part is 3/4 of the people in Ontario dont know were Tottenham is so im not worried about people from the USA finding me.

LMAO EVEN HARDER! When you are born you have a social security number! Man you are really making my day today... Bank account.. no, i understand. You are only 10yrs old? Damn, then I can understand that you arejust doing what mommy and daddy say not to do, which is give out personal info! i have to give you props for that. But when you get older, you will get why I am laughing sooo hard!

Ya the ankles been ok for about 4 days now.

the reason id tell people were a live is because 3/4 of the people in Southern Ontario dont know were Tottenham is so id say a good part of the USA doesnt either.

When I remarked about those original comments, I had no idea this kid was 10yrs old! I clearly stated that he did the right thing by not giving it out as well after I knew this. As for being called an IDIOT, I think that is rude, and uncalled for. Poking fun at you and getting a laugh is one thing. But once I realized your true age I backed off! I come on here to have fun and meet new COOL people. Not to be called names. but what do I expect from a 10yr old then? and you are right Heidi, it isn't us he needs to be worried about. I also don't think 10 yr olds should be involved with alot of things that they are though! Anyway, I want no fights or arguments. See you guys later

Hey there folks, been a chilly one here today. Temps have been dropping all day and we had a couple of snow showers. The heavy one that came through dropped vis to about 100 ft for time. With temps right around 36 the snow melted quickly since had been so warm yesterday. Winds have been blowing hard all to with gusts up around 45 mph.

Looking forward to more snow that will stick around the rest of the winter now. I`m ready.

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By Strike | November 5, 2007 @ 6:42 PM #

Jim, we've been getting that all day up here in Winnipeg. Nothing serious, just bursts here and there. I think we're going to have to wait a while for the real stuff.

Hey all!! Had a lil flurry here this morning!! I got a quick vid I'll upload in a bit!! Nothing impressive Nor Lake enhanced!! But our first of the season!! It's still flurrying a lil!!
I agree it's smart to keep some stuff pirvate here Caleb!! There's a lot of folks who don't post here, but read the blog!!
I am a lil concerned for your safety and well being!! If anything bad does start to happen make sure to notify Reed or one of us here immediately!!

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By Brady MN | November 5, 2007 @ 7:39 PM #

Haha, There's some snow NW of me heading for me! It's strengthening but..I don't think I'll see anything but a small furry...Have to wait till about mid november-early december for the nice 20-30 cm snowfalls.

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By Kim | November 5, 2007 @ 8:03 PM #

Hopefully getting some rain or more here in Va.......! AS for Caleb, well, ........it wasn't so much WILL was upset about him not giving his town out, but CELEB called him an Idioit!........as I recall not too long ago he pulled a fast one on me too. SO I pretty much ignore him, SO WILL please DON'T feel bad, He is only 10. Probably wishes he was 20.........but well. ;)

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By Brady MN | November 5, 2007 @ 8:03 PM #

They always get the good stuff!! They might even have a chance to fire up there sleds tonight and tomorrow!! =( We need a good snowy season, last year we didn't nearly enough snow, and the snow we got didn't show up til March 1st!

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By AJ | November 5, 2007 @ 8:31 PM #

Brady, when I want a snow fix, I'm making a trip to Duluth ;) hehe. What's up everyone?

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By Brady MN | November 5, 2007 @ 8:43 PM #

Not much here!! Just admiring how everyone leaves right before I get home!! =( If ya wanna snow fix, ya might wanna go to MI!! We have just a very very light flurry here!!

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By AJ | November 5, 2007 @ 8:48 PM #

haha. Ok, I'll keep that in mind. Or, since it's closer, I'll just go to Colorado, since it's closer ;) I'd still make an effort to take a trip that way though, so don't feel left out. lol.

And yeah, they seem to leave in a hurry.... oh well.

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By Brady MN | November 5, 2007 @ 8:52 PM #

About mid February We'll be out of the really cold stuff and into some good snow!! If it isn't like last year!!

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By AJ | November 5, 2007 @ 9:04 PM #

haha. Same here, except our schedule for snow varies drastically. I think I've told the story of the Friday the 13th snow in April alot here, but yeah, that's one example ;)

I do remember ya mentioning it a time or two!!
It just awesome watching it just dump on the U.P.!! Maybe soon that Lake effect will turn my direction!!

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By AJ | November 5, 2007 @ 9:09 PM #

Cross thy digits, right? haha. It rarely works for us. All the little towns around Garden City will get snowed in, and we'll see, maybe, a trace. And I still have to go to school on a 22 degree day! grr! lol.

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By Brady MN | November 5, 2007 @ 9:11 PM #

22 degrees?? They don't close schools here until it gets under -30!! not kidding!!

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By AJ | November 5, 2007 @ 9:13 PM #

lol. Yeesh! You're makin me shiver! haha. Well, you must remember, your significantly further north than me, so 22 degrees is freakin cold here. lol.

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By Brady MN | November 5, 2007 @ 9:15 PM #

Hehe!! I know, but it's still a 52degree difference!! That's a lot anywhere!!

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By Brady MN | November 5, 2007 @ 9:17 PM #

They are really picky about closing schools in Minny!! Our kids are dumb enough!! hehe

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By Kenny | November 5, 2007 @ 9:19 PM #

Haha AJ, I know I'm way further north then you but, 22 degrees in the middle of winter would be lucky for us. Usually around Early December to Febuary our temperatures sit at -10 highs then gets to about -25 sometimes -40.. for the lows.

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By Brady MN | November 5, 2007 @ 9:22 PM #

If you've never experienced that kinda cold, I can tell ya... You won't like it!! hehe It's kinda fun though, takin a leak outside and watching it evaporate before it hits the ground!!

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By AJ | November 5, 2007 @ 9:22 PM #

Well, true, but still. They SHOULD close schools here when its that cold! I swear I'm cold-blooded. lol. And the kids are dumb everywhere. hehe

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By Brady MN | November 5, 2007 @ 9:23 PM #

That's why I love it here!! We get a lil of everything!! From Canadian cold to Texas hot!!

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By AJ | November 5, 2007 @ 9:24 PM #

haha. Brady, I have two words: done it! lol. And Kenny, it gets below zero at times in January mainly, but not for extended periods. That's awful hard on vehicles and such sitting outside at night.

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By Brady MN | November 5, 2007 @ 9:25 PM #

I can imagine it get pretty sh&tty in KS too!! The wind must get terrible!!

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By Brady MN | November 5, 2007 @ 9:31 PM #

They're expecting waves from Marquette to Whitefish point to be 17 to 22ft!! that's freakin nuts!!

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By AJ | November 5, 2007 @ 9:34 PM #

Oh yeah! That's the only reason our January ice storm was so bad, the wind drove the ice and snow onto the lines, where it froze rapidly. The 40-foot electric towers we have outside of town just crumbled like no one's business cause of the wind-driven frozen slush.

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By Brady MN | November 5, 2007 @ 9:44 PM #

I had a bad experience with an ice storm like that a few years ago!! I was lucky to not have a giant frozen pine crash on my truck!!

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By AJ | November 5, 2007 @ 9:46 PM #

That would've been sad to see. Same thing happened here, except it was a power line instead of an old dead tree. My dad's old Bronco hasn't had the greatest experiences in winter...

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By Brady MN | November 5, 2007 @ 9:51 PM #

The trees that were crashing that night were old, but far from dead!! lots of power poles and lines came down!!There was intense lightning, but it was green and I realized it wasn't lightning, it was transformers exploding throughout town!!This town was messed up like an f2 came ripping through!! My buddy and I made some $$ the next day with our chainsaws!! hehe I love capitalizing on disasters!! JK

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By AJ | November 5, 2007 @ 9:55 PM #

haha. Well, we do the same here, of course. How do I make my money some days when it snows? Why, by using the Bobcat and doing a little snow removal ;) hehe. It's pretty good pay.

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By Brady MN | November 5, 2007 @ 9:57 PM #

That's what we like to here AJ!! hehe! I thought you were gonna say go shovel some old ladies porch or something!! but the bobcat works too!! hehe

Smallest Slight Risk area of the year!! Comment Posted By AJ | November 5, 2007 @ 9:59 PM #

Well, the only old ladies in my neighborhood get someone else to shovel their driveway, so I don't know... I bet they'd be happy to let me have at it with a snow blower. lol

Reed,
The date on the video of the week is off by a day. It was June 27, 1992. Only reason I notice it cause I will never forget that day and I have searched for info on it alot. I am like the only one in my hometown who did not see that F4 that day. Even my grandma saw it from halfway across the county. I was 40 miles to the south in Amarillo looking at one of the most impressive towers ever. I use to have the newspaper somewhere with with a really nice picture of it. There are also alot of good video local people got of it, but you would have to go door to door there to find them.

..A blustery taste of winter..

With unseasonably cool Arctic air flooding across southern Ontario
today courtesy of a fall storm centered this morning just north of
Lake Huron most areas will be experiencing their first taste of
winter over the next couple of days.

Lake effect showers are already being generated off of Lake Huron
and Georgian Bay early this morning in a strong and chilly westerly
flow. Temperatures over the higher ground west and northwest of the
Golden Horseshoe have become cold enough early this morning for a
Few flurries to mix in with the showers at times. A few wet flurries
have been reported as far south as Kitchener and Windsor early this
morning. The lake effect showers are expected to become more intense
and extend further inland by this afternoon. In fact as the airmass
may become unstable enough for isolated thunderstorms to spark some
excitement over a few locales with the greatest chance of thunder
near the shorelines of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. Brief heavy
Downpours..Strong and gusty winds..And even some small hail are
possible as a result.

As ever colder air continues to flood in temperatures inland from
the Great Lakes will drop to near or a little below freezing
Tonight resulting in a changeover from showers to flurries over the
higher ground in the snowbelts. This will set the stage for the
First accumulating lake effect snow of the season. The flurries may
become heavy at times with local snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm
quite possible by Wednesday morning over higher ground and lesser
amounts near the Great Lakes where the flurries will be very wet and
possibly mixed with showers. Some of the flurries may make it into
The Golden Horseshoe area tonight..Although no significant
accumulations are expected.

Looks like im going to get some lake affect showers today.

Maybe a snowstorm for the Miss and Ohio Valleys in mid Nov around the 13th or so. A couple of the models are hinting at one.
A few flurries here in Central Ohio today after 66 and severe warnings on Monday. Just wait 5 mins in Ohio the weather will change.
