A strong cold front just came through Norman, OK, accompanied by some convection, a 180 degree wind shift, and a 10 degree temperature change. Temperatures now are around 60F, while ahead of the front, we were experiencing temperatures and dewpoints in the 70s. Shown below is an Oklahoma Mesonet map from around 10:45 am showing the textbook cold front in southeast OK:

YEA! First log again! I think that cold front is heading my way tonight! We are suppose to go from middle 80's to 70's and 60's by the end of this week in northern IL!!
Showoff, getting first comment... ;) jk
Wow, it's cold here!! 50 degrees!! asljhfsladhlasdf
The rain with that coldfront this morning is the only thing that got me up for class today. I wish it would get cold enough for me to wear my new jacket. That or give me some good storms to chase.
Maybe next weekend Wes??
My sister will be in town so hopefully she'll see her first tornado.
Whats happening this weekend?????
im quessing some storms down your way Reed.
The front is on its way here now, of course. There are some nice-looking teeny-tiny little cells popping up out in front - absolutely NOT going to amount to anything, but they look nice. I am about to go get some photos for the TV. :D It's really humid here 85 - degrees with 65% humidity, so I guess its little wonder the clouds are bubbling up a little.
Hopefully! The GFS is hinting at a nice trough moving across the Plains.
Enjoy the front Heidi! You should try and run along the boundary if the temperature change is abrupt enough.
I'm hoping something happens this evening. They've changed from 20 per cent chance of storms to 50 per cent since last night. So who knows what will happen. It will be nice to cool off and get rid of the abundance of mosquito's we've had since August. little buggers!!!
Reed have you seen the LONG range GFS? Ha ha I know it's so far off it's laughable, but look at this:
http://www.wxcaster.com/CONUS_GFS2P5_500_GPHTMPVORT_384HR.gif
Now wouldn't that be something?
That's what I call extremely long range. lol. Pretty cool, I'd like to see it, but for now, I can only laugh and hope ;)
Hey guys, Fixed up my site a bit and added some stuff. Now Reed if you want to know how this week will be just check my site!
hey guys.... anything going on??
and thanks for the help so far on the logo front lol
Np Tim lol. Well I added A map of canada's chasers so far on my site. I can't wait till winter comes! but so far it looks like it's not quite here yet due to the warm temperatures were going to see here in edmonton this week.
Hey guys! It's a nice and sunny 66 degrees here in SW Kansas, and here in awhile, I have to go work in it. Way better than yesterday, which was pretty chilly to me. ;)
This is moving into my area - 2 counties away now. I've gotta go back out and see what this looks like. I was eating a sandwich last time and I missed the best stuff - low-level cloud cover was messing up the view by the time I got into position. The best stuff is almost here, so hopefully the sky is clear enough to get some better shots. Anyway ...

hey AJ... Nice, its only 54 here but thats kinda warm lol
Good luck Heidi!
Let us know if you get any good pictures.
Nice site by the way tim
I just went out and back real quick - the real quick part was because I got about 1/2 mile down the road and realized that the low level cloud cover was still not cooperating. It looks like I will probably have to wait until this stuff is sitting on the western edge of my county before I'll have any good storm-structure photo ops - if at all. I did catch a nice little lenticular cloud sitting on top of what I assume could only be a cumulus congestus. I like lenticular clouds! :) Oh, and I also got a shot of some contrails where aircraft are being deverted around this stuff. I haven't uploaded the photos yet, though, so I don't know how any of that will have turned out.
Did I mention that it's STINKIN HOT?!?!
This is a welcome change...OK should be much more tolerable to northerners like me now. The temperature drop was swift, almost as much so as my devastating win over Reed's fantasy football team this weekend.
Down here in Dallas its about 92, with a dewpoint of 73, With morning lows near 76-78.
Those saying its warm, dont be whinerbabies lol
Hey guys anything good going on right now.
thanks Reed :D
Reed did you check out Brady's pictuers? i think he may of seen a waterspout, im not sure if he mentioned this in an earlier blog but check them out they are good and let us know if you see what i see, the pics are on chase logs on the site
Yeah, great pictures! I don't know what Brady saw either. I guess it's subject to debate now. ;)
Hey Tim, go check out the site now, there's been some changes made. lol. Good ones of course.
nice one AJ......Glad to see ya getting to grips with the site :D thpics are great
Thanks! I'm pretty sure it would be a good idea to give credits to them though, so no one comes after us with a lawsuit. lol
Hehehe that would be funny AJ.
btw ive just zoomed in on brady's pictures and i have to say in my oppinion that is definetly a waterspout, now either they are sisters or it is a multi-vortexed waterspout.....but can you get them though?
oh and btw also im sure i can see a funnel, no joke!
AJ heres an idea should we put at the top a little notice saying all pictures were taking by severeweather.com team and are credited to each chaser....lol would be good :P
Heidi if you right click over the picture and click where it says "show picture" that red cross will disapear with the picture lol, i only learnt that trick the other day lol
Ok, pics fixed! Credits are given, lawyers can settle down. lol
I can't see Brady's pics Tim, can you post them on here?
Ya we had a large debate about one of Brady's pics if there was a funnel or not. Not sure if its the same pic. Anyways tim i cant se any of Bradys pics on your site for some reason i dont know why.
And if you want to try and make people see your website just add your website to the google search engine. i already did.
www.google.com/addurl/
Nevermind about Brady's pics. Tim, that's a good idea! Right now the captions are kind of scrunched with the credits on them. Maybe I can work on that later today.
Yeah, I still can't see em either, after I right-click and choose "show picture". Hmm...
I have to leave for a bit ya'll! Be back on later!
Peace!
lol you can do if you want AJ lol i dont mind would be a great help :D
If anyone is having problems seing the pics then right click in the picture and then select show picture it will then load the picture !!!
Well, my headline is that "Major cold front just blew through Izard Co.!!"
I got some (probably unimpressive) photos of the leading edge, but they were taken from my front porch so there are powerlines and other junk in the frame. I should have been at my neighbor's place, up on a hill. Problem is that I have to drive back into the bad stuff to get home, so I don't really like doing that ... anyway, we had probably 40 MPH winds and it blew our neighbor's patic furniture all over the place, and blew the lid off our big storage box that houses the birdseed on our back porch, and now all the birdseed is WET!!!! AAAAAAAAA!!!!
And, this it two counties north of me:

Thats just my opinion.

yeh will do....can i ask someone to go onto the page which says the chasers and chaeck to see if AJ's picture shows up please??
or i think they may work now lol
Ya AJ pic shows up.
And i just added a Hurricane Center to my website witht eh link to James video of Typhoon Krosa
Thanks Matt, right now i do believe i have fixed the problem, i think it was that ihad copied and pasted the pictures onto there because it wouldn't let me upload the pics before, now i have uploaded them so im hopping that it works fine now lol
YESSSSSS that cool front is headed tword me and it has a lot of hail and wind i'll uplode some pic if i get any thing!

Hey Tim the Pics work fine now.
Don't get too excited, Caleb - I hope you get some fun stuff, but I wouldn't count on lots of hail :P Maybe your neighbors patio furniture will blow all over the place, too! :D
lol thats good thanks for telling me Matt...
Hey Heidi..... try the pics now ive got them sorted lol, please say if you even have the slightest idea that there is a waterspout in 2 of pics because i think there are lol but that could just be me lol
those are awesome pics Heidi( i think im a little late with that but oh well).
LOL I'll take some photos and post them LOL
wow its gone quiet all of a sudden lol anyone there?
Update on a few of my photos - the ones I labeled as "lenticulars" are not lenticulars, but rather pileus. I was very used to seeing lenticulars from when I lived in Arizona, where they'd form off the tops of mountains. Pileus look very similar, but form over thunderstorms. (Courtesy of Sarah Tipton, meteorologist @ KAIT-8, Jonesboro! - Thanks Sarah! :P)
awesome photos Heidi!
Hey Guys!! I'm finally home!! First things first!!
Heidi!! Your pics are absolutely amazing!! I'm glad you finally had a chance to whip out your mad photo skillz!! Great Job!!
Heres the picks I took at Island Lake!! It wasn't rain!!
It wasn't raining fish!! It wasn't even strong at all!!

Notice how calm the lake was!! there wasn't much wind at all! too bad there wasn't a Lake Superior breeze blowing at it!! hehe
Here's some more pics I took on my journey!!

Brady, and Heidi those are good shots, I guess Ill put up some of mine.
Brady, I wonder if it wasn't really COLD air over really WARM water???? Lots of condensation?
Whatever it was it's cool?
And where the HECK is Joe Surfer????
I found a lil vid of that line!! Pardon my tongue again!! hehe
http://s195.photobucket.com/albums/z285/shadetree6981/?action=view¤t=62a046c4.pbr
Yes Andrew!! This is what I'm thinking!! It was doing that over land and water!! It was very hard chasing that through the woods from Canyon to Island lake!! But I did it!! hehe
It was quite warm and humid, and a pretty cool breeze from that line going against the main storm motion!! It really looked like a tiny spin up was gonna happen when I first got on it Near Cotton! I had some vid of it, but I can't find it for some reason!! =( (figures) I'm not trying to cry wolf here guys!! hehe
Brady, your photos are a lot better clarity-wise when they're as big as they are in your links. (On Tim's webpage they're smaller, of course.) I really have no idea what to say, in regard to the "what-the-heck-is-that?!" question!!! I think this is a task for a Reed-like person. :D That must have been VERY exciting, though.
Thanks for the comments on my photos, everyone. Wanna see our mad mammatus sunset?
http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w226/thefurmouse/100807sunsetcopyright.jpg
That was a beautiful sunset, Heidi! Your pictures were great. What picture are you guys questioning about with Brady? I can't seem to find that one.
This one here Susan!! ^^
ZOWEE!! what did it look like to you?
Yeah!! It was a great trip again!! It is a shame you didn't get more opportunities to get photos this summer!! that is just awesome Heidi!!
The worlds weakest tornado!! It looked like little tiny spin ups starting and dying all over!! With the rain and warmth and then a cool breeze I can see why condensdation would be rising all over!!
Do you guys think I should call Joe and see if everythings cool?? I don't wanna bug him if he's busy!!
I would-he is a very funny/helpful part of this blog! It is very, very strange that he hasn't been on here for a long time-just let him know we were worried about him! Even Reed was asking about him!
Well, the last we heard from Joe was something like "Hey, I won second place in a 30-man Texas Holdem..." so, um, YEAH, I think it wouldn't hurt to call him, since that was over a week ago.
Brady, too bad you didn't have your boat there - you could have fulfilled Reed's life-long dream of becoming one with the waterspout ... except you didn't have the "bubble". :D But still, you could have christened the WIV appropriately!
HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! Wouldn't that be a turn around!! Reed Jealous of me!! LMAO!!! I swear before I die We'll make that a reality!!! Anybody know where to get a good bubble??
I hope he aint running from 28 pissed off poker players!! lol
EXACTLY, Brady!!! :-/
Ahh Hows the day been today! Here it's been pretty cold and stuff. I enjoyed today cool but..Tomorrow looks like it'll hit 15C then 16 on wednesday!
No answer!! voice mail picked up right away!! Man I hope he's alright!!
Oh!! It's been an interesting one Kenny!! We're getting worried about Joe!! Someone might wanna check the Seattle matter of records!! =(
What do you make of this??^^
And make sure to check Heidi's quality work!!
I meant this!! lol ^^
Well-at least you tried!!!
Maybe he is on a spending spree with his winnings!!!
Joe liked it here too much just to quit posting like that!! He seemed to enjoy helping me out as much as I enjoyed having a nowcaster!! He also had alotta respect for everyone here!!
For those interested...
Southern Manitoba may experience a short duration of wet snow this evening. Temperatures in a range between 0 and 3 degrees across southern manitoba with a cold pool (subzero) temperatures at 850mb snow flakes may fly before this low pressure system exits. In areas especially north of winnipeg the temperatures are dangerously close to freezing.
I expect updates from those in Southern MB who can make possible snow observations.
Hey guys! Brady, I have no clue what that is! lol. Maybe really, really low rotating scud...?? I'm stumped. lol
I have a quick update..
An individual from the R.M. of St. Andrews North-East of Winnipeg has reported snow mixing with rain.
The first snow may be coming for localities of S MB
So, at least this cold weather should kill off the skeeters in Canada, right?? :D
They have been gone since August (skeeters). But I wouldn't mind a bit of snow, as it will melt tomorrow anyway. I have now seen a reading of -0.1 Celsius, so snow could be at some peoples doorstep.
Maybe Joe became a pimp all of a sudden. Ya never know. -5 tonight, brr so cold! the western part of the NW Territories will be -10 or more tonight!
That snow talk is wayyy too close to here!! =( I don't know if I even been bit by a skeeter this year!! Oh yeah! One bit me on the hand when I was blogging here!! hehe otherwise we had hardly any this year! I'm also happy to report our grasshopper invasion is over!! hehe
I don't even think I'd be allowed in Canada!! hehe
Do you Canadians ever watch the Red Green Show!! I love that show!!
Red Green is pretty funny, but my favorite are the Comedy Central specials, like Bill Engvall and Jeff Dunham.
I'm out, talk to yall later! Peace!
Yes we do watch the Red Green Show. But Corner Gas is better. The snow situation is looking better by the surface obs update.
Here is something slightly interesting.
In Eriksdale, MB the temperature at 9 CDT was 0.1 Celsius with a 0.1 Celsius dew point. If that were to drop by 0.1 Celsius the temperature would be 0 or freezing. But at 10 CDT the 0.1 temp stood as well as the dew point. Yes you read that correct, obviously snow doesn't want to fall in MB today.
This is totally not related to anything, but I just HAD to share this. Oh, this makes me proud to be an Arkansan...
Probably heard there was a sale on family pack pork jowels somewhere ...
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5ill-8U5nF4nfcD3yioiJmvBHWspQD8S4ECM80
(Where was Caleb during all of this??!!)
Now that's funny!! I have a buddy who was pulled over driving When he was 9!! hehe He lived in the sticks though!!
Red Green and Comedy Central are two different types of Comedy, And good ol Larry the Cable Guy!! I like em all!!
Heres another funny thing. Saturday night a guy stole a bus and the police started chasing him for 100 KM. He dodged a bunch of spike belts and stuff. Once they finally caught him the guy turned out to be a 10 year old boy!! I bet you the cops were so ashamed because they got out smarted by a 10 year old boy for 100 km.
It is now snowing at my place. and you are complaining about 50's temperature. Snow means it is 32 or less (usually).
Where are you located sk? Is it heavy snow?
I'm assuming near Winnipeg?
Sorry to hear that SK!! I'm still not ready for the cold... but if we can get some early accumulation!! I'll be happy!! Our snow has been coming late for the past few years!! =(
Reed, she lives in Saskatchewan. You know I'm really wanting winter to come now. Once any snow falls im getting pictures of it.
But wait....Theres no snow in saskatchewan right now...Hmm weird eh?
Sorry about this tripple post but, Some meteorologist's are saying this year for alberta in winter is going to be one of the most snowiest and coldest ones! Thats great news for me...Besides the -40 temps :(
I'm bored too Kenny!! $50 US says you get the first snow shots!! hehe
Man it got quiet!! 100
I have been avoiding looking at the new forecast models just because I new it would hint at something like 10 days off, and of course the GFS is painting a pretty picture again. I wish I wouldnt have looked till it was like a 2 days out.
hey guy if anne is there lol...
we have got raon today lots and lors of rain im not looking forward to biking to school lol
for some reason my internet oacked up last nigfht so i wasn't able to get on, anyway hope you loy had a good one.
nice pictures Brady and Heidi! I made my earlier posts on the blog using my cell phone so I couldn't see all the posts...we definitely need to get the chat up and going again.
The mammatus sunset shot is amazing.
You could definitely get some water spouts this time of year on Superior...with cold air over relatively warm water...I've even heard of water spouts in the late fall/early winter during intense early-season lake effect events when cellular convection develops over the lake instability...you can get CAPEs of 1000+ during bigtime lake effect events..esp. early in the winter. You should definitely keep an eye out Brady.
Yeah Wes...this weekend looked like April 21 on this morning's run. I can't believe we haven't had a single fall chase this year. out of control
Chasing a waterspout by boat would be incredible. As long as you had a life jacket you could just drive right into the thing. New goal for 2008
lol that would be ace reed lol
anyway got to go, school....please vote on ym logo's if you haven't already, on my blog.
see ya guys have a good one!
I libe in Pueblo, CO. It is about an hour and a half away from Denver. The weather has been very weird, and if I am not mistaken we set around 75 NEW heat records for this time of year yesterday..... I love the seasons here, but wish we had mroe action when it came to Tornadoes.
If anyone has any info on my area, please feel free to email me, or post it here. I would love to have a heads up. The site looks GREAT. I enjoy visiting it often, and have been showing all me friends and family the xhase logs, and stock footage. My fiancee is happy to see me this exited about anything.
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.. WILL
Man if the spc day 4-8 would just stay the same for ONE TIME then I am going to be the happiest man around!
Sunday sunday sunday!
Hey reed,
I saw that on the GFS too. It looks totally like April 21 I agree but I'm not looking at the models anymore after last weeks major dissapointment.
hey guys....
only another 5 hours left on the vote so vote on my blog now for the logo you like lol....
anyway we have had rain rain and more rain here today and its really humid aswell lol
