Typhoon Krosa is just now making landfall on the extreme northeast coast of Taiwan, packing winds of ~120 knots, with higher gusts. The earlier Joint Typhoon Warning Center outlook noted that Krosa was weakening, with an eroded northwest eyewall...However, it appears that this may have been associated with an eyewall replacement cycle, because the typhoon has strengthened rapidly the last few hours before landfall, with a well-defined central dense overcast and enclosed eye. Typhoon chaser James Reynolds is currently in Taiwan, but I have not heard from him since his departure from China a few days ago. Hopefully he is safe and will provide us with an update soon...the typhoon took a much further south track than was forecast by the JTWC, which means that the eyewall of this intense typhoon will persist over northern Taiwan (before the track had the eye barely missing the island to the north!)...bringing much more intense conditions to James' position. Another noisy night, just like the night before. Another 2.36 inches of rain and the storms hit at the same time the night before. Lost enough sleep the couple a days. Think I`ll be taking a nap this afternoon since only going to get stinking hot out. Oct 6th and they are predicting temps 85 to 90. Asian beetle invasion in full swing, they must be at least an 1 inch deep on my deck, and now all soggy from the rain. Going to have get the leaf blower out and blow em off before they start stinking the place up.
I have some early morning storms coming my way nothing special but Im going to go take some pictures of it in a few.

Well the storm missed me. It tracked well east once it got on land. the video is nothing special but i have found me new storm chasing partner. Hehehe its funny im just in the closing parts of the video, ill have it upbefore i go to work.

There pretty close to me but my camera died out on me so i cant film anything. And my Dad just got home from golf and Im helping him prepare dinner(I dont know why i helping because imnot going to eat it) and my power when out for a second about 5 minutes ago.

Well the rain is gone i can still here some thunder. Im angry that i did get video of that storm. But according to the weather network theres a chance of more storms around 12-1 in the morning and i should be home from work then. I have the batteries charging now they should be full by the time i get home.
ah that will be good if you do get some storms then, will look good in the night if you get some lightning aswell

Caleb, I heard about the "chaser" show on the Discovery Channel yesterday. It was a topic on StormTrack - apparently the first episode is following the DOW & TIV (um.... sorry, but I can't find anything original about that, but maybe that's because I own National Geographic's Tornado Intercept??)
If my friend doesn't get home soon I'm going to go crazy!!! I need something to do.
Okay, so I just looked at the schedule you posted, Caleb, and I can say that I can think of many other "storylines" that are far more compelling than watching 4 episodes of DOW & TIV drama repeated three dozen times each. Anyone who has seen Tornado Intercept has already seen this story. I don't mean to sound harsh, because I think that Josh Wurman is outstanding at what he does and has done incredible things for the field, but from what I read on StormTrack, it sounded like DC was trying to make this more of a "drama in real life" rather than accurately portraying chasing. Reading the episode blurbs on the schedule only seems to reinforce that idea. I think that if they really wanted to do a show about chasers and/or what chasing is all about, they should have broadened their horizons. Ahem. :D
The puzzle on Wheel of Fortune was just Grand Rapids, Michigan. hmmmm... :D
Supposedly they hired an actress with zero chasing experience or interest to ride in the TIV...that was their attempt at expanding horizons!
We provided a lot of tornado footage for the production..they'll likey claim they shot it from the TIV...it's happened in the past.

We had a record hight temp for Oct. 6th, was 88f after an overnight low of only 72f. Looking forward to the frontal passage to cool it off. Still warm out at 9:30 am sunday morning. 77f with a dewpoint of 74f. Downright sultry, hope we don`t get to much rain whe it comes through, had 5 inches the couple days already. Farmers need a break to get the rest of the harvest in.

Oklahoma's 80's and 90's will soon be replaced w/ cool 60's and low 70's by the begining of this week!!!!!!
