A massive hail storm struck parts of Brazil on Saturday, October 20, producing 5+ inch diameter hail stones and widespread damage to roofs, vehicles, and crops. Severe weather is very common this time of year across Brazil and Argentina east of the Andes Mountains, which is mid-spring in the Southern Hemisphere. Supercells and tornadoes are also common across this area, given strong LLJs that develop just to the east of the mountains. Here are some pictures of the hail stones from the Oct 20 storm, from www.metsul.com.

Here is an INCREDIBLE video of a wedge tornado in Brazil from 2005. Note that the tornado is rotating in a clockwise direction! which of course is cyclonic in the Southern Hemisphere. We'll definitely be heading down there for next winter's season!

It took me about an hour to load up the pics of the hail , but WOW. Some serious damage there. Very similar sized missiles to the ones Aug 21/07 in South Dakota.
Imagine taking one of those spiky ones to the body/head.

Hey AJ....nice there then a nice and cool 49 here, but it is almost 11 at night....
Zack if i could hit you from ontario to OK i would. but i cant because its going to cost me some pretty damn good money to fix it.
Ooooohhh Matt hope ya cars ok.....
Fahrenheit or Centigrade Tim? I don't know which one would make me feel better... lol.
Matt, I'm in HS. I know the feeling. haha. Course, when you do get in an accident at school, and try to flee the scene, you get chased down by the bicycle cop ;D
First i stick it in the ditch and its making wierd noises and now this.
AAAAAAFJjsghjfdghfdgldfhdkgbdf.

It's REALLY warm here too in Regina, +25 C. what a shock to the system it will be since starting tomorrow its back to +10 or below for the high. So weird!
The things is i wasnt in the car when it happened i was at work. My car was in the parking lot.
Well it appears there was another earthquake in Indonesia and they have issued a Tsunami warning.
Fahrenheit AJ lol.....this torado intecept is ace! lol
That twister in Brazil is insane! I like how it spins clockwise... that's just awesome :D
My point exactly Matt. No one knows how to park for a few months at school. lol. Therefore, door dings are a common sight.

Hey Cors, that link didn't work for me.
I just got back from the Wal-Marts. mmm hmmm. They have turkey necks displayed alongside the turkey breakfast sausage now. And no one was wearing overalls today. I shoulda worn mine.
Back guys...I just burned my leg from really really hot soup..It's super red and I burnt some skin off and its bubbling up a bit..It hurts so much!
It's raining here, anyway Hey Brady what's up.
Kenny-did you run cold water over your leg to stop the burning?-if you have blisters-that is a pretty serious burn
Heidi-what the heck do you due with turnkey necks? ewww!
Yeah I put cold cloth over my leg, a wet one and ice is still on it, there is a little bubble...Well this really sucks..I mean after all this I still didnt get to eat the soup!
Susan, you ask what I do with turkey necks? I look at them and shake my head! Other folks eat 'em, I reckon.
:D
OK-ya scared me-make sure you run the cloth under cold water every few minutes so that it stops the burning-
I wonder how they eat 'em-grill them? roast them? "KIDS!!guess what?? we're having TURKEY NECKS tonite!!" gross!!lol
Still howling out of the north at 60kms.
I just got a call from my mom that the roof blew off her garage so I got to fix it(she is 59 LOL).
It is one of those portable tent like ones.
At least it didn't blow over the house and into the neighbors yard like last year
Yeah it's like...The size of my pinky nail, so it's not that big...Anyway thanks for the advice.
Ok well I'm gunna go run it under cold water for a few mins.
No problem(it's the mother in me!)
Well this really does suck..Its ok now but its still got some bubbles..the 1 as big as my pinky nail and uhh 2 other ones pretty small..
Kenny, what kind of soup was it? Soup that sticks, like chowder or chili? (Sounds like it.)
Susan, I believe thems fightin words. Everyone knows that ya boil the turkey necks with the rest of the innards in order to make yer broth fer the gravy. Then, after y've boiled them down fer quite a bit, ya take to hollerin bout how delicious they are, at which time a quarrel commences in the kitchen, over who is gonna get the fattest one. This is why certain folks of distinction in the hill country are missin one or both of their front teeth. Then, after the dust has settled and the turkey necks have been sufficiently devoured, and all the goodies have been sucked out from between each and every vertebrae, ya spend a leisure evening picking the meat out from between yer teeth ... or what's left of 'em.
I guess the winds are calming down in so. Cal ... at least a little bit. Good news.
I don't see me eating turkey necks either!! =( Is there even any meat?? I'm willing to sample anything from the woods or sea, to a point!! I think I'll just stick to my ruffed grouse with mushroom gravy or honey mustard glaze!! =)
Pheasant too!!. Mmmm Or my breaded Lake trout with tatar and lemon juice!!
Well I put polysporin on it and a huge bandaid so it doesn't get infected with anything..I've done all I can, now all I can do is take the pain and let it heal.
Heidi, it was just regular chicken noodle soup. Well that teaches me not to ever make soup again lol...
ya know Heidi-I can actually picture them ther peoples suckin the meat between the verterbra/that was quite a visual-I don't know if I would want to watch them doin that or watch people at the annual turkey testicle festival we have annually around here-how's that for a visual!LMAO!!!!!!Kenny!-make sure you keep an eye on those blisters so they don't get infected! (I thought chicken soup was a healing soup???!!)
I will Susan! I thought chicken soup was too, looks like I'm hated by chicken's all of a sudden...
I just watched some clips of Storm Chasers, pretty interesting!
Does anyone here go to http://www.midwest-skywarn.org/
I was givin this site to go to from a local chaser that I'm still trying to get to post here!! I am trying to hook up with good weather people, but my first priority is here, and will stay here!!
How come everytime I show up, yall leave?? =( That makes me a sad panda!! =(
Makes me miss home... I live not too far from where those storms were in brazil! That area is known as "tornado alley" in south america, which include parts of agertina, paraguay, and brazil. Some tornados hit that area as well that night, no injuries, wind estimated to be arround 200km/h.
Crazy hail!!! I'm here Brady!! Even if I am over an hour after you last posted...
I should really start my two page AP World History essay that's due at 9 AM.
whoever missed the first episode of Stormchasers...here it is...

Gag, it's 45 and raining again here. No wind, but I hope this stuff is out of here soon. I kinda like the sun!

Hey Cors, that link didn't work for me.
lol
Cors - I guess that means something in Amsterdam-eese that it doesn't in Arkansas-eese.
:D
How's this: (ahem) ... "Cors, the FOX live-streaming video link you contributed in relation to the fires in southern California was defective, assuming of course that my own recent experience with the aforementioned Fox live-streaming video link is consistent as a representation of the presumed outcome that would be shared by the entire population of Internet users world-wide, should they also try the same Fox live-streaming video link supplied by you."
Better?
:D
Good Afternoon everyone! Susan I think my burn's healed pretty good now..I don't feel anymore of those blisters! It's windy here again!!! 50 km/h at the moment.
Lucky Calgary woke up to snow on the ground...
Whoo back to normal temperatures here in Saskatchewan, only +9....still no sight of snow yet here in the city :(
Hey guys, whats up?....

If you really pay attention to around 28s left on the video, you can see multiple vortex! I thought that was really cool!
Holy crap that's really cool. Never seen a tornado move in clockwise direction.
