Textbook lake effect event in Great Lakes Region

A prolific lake effect snow event has been occurring over the last few days downwind of the Great Lakes in MI, OH, PA, and NY.  As much as two feet of snow will fall in northwest PA and extreme northeast OH along the Lake Erie shoreline, as persistent cold northwesterly flow has prevailed over the region.  Shown below is a radar image showing a heavy band of lake effect snow in southwest Michigan.  Snowfall rates in excess of 1 inch power was common in that band.
