Moderate to heavy freezing rain is moving in to central Oklahoma as of 9:00 am CST. As expected, the arctic front moved south through OK at a much faster rate than the models predicted, leaving temperatures in the upper twenties in central OK by Friday morning. A freezing rain advisory has been issued for today, in addition to the ice storm warning tonight through Sunday to account for this early beginning. However, this advisory may need to be upgraded to an ice storm warning soon given the heavy precipitation and cold temperatures. Ice has already been accumulating on cars and grassy surfaces.
