3.5.10.ruc_255_2010030518_f05_tmpf_2_m_above_groundA fairly organized yet compact storm system will move into western Kansas and Nebraska later this afternoon, bringing the chance for thunderstorms and possibly some funnels or a tornado to the Plains for the first time this year. Instability will be limited and dependent on daytime heating; however, more than adequate shear will be in place, so any storms that do form will have the potential to rotate. Yeah this setup looks pretty good but im worried about the shear! Dry line comming in right as we speek into western Kansas!! this is basicly a "mini supercell day. There may be some cold core storms into the day tomarrow!

LOL Doug....And here I was thinking of heading out Sunday and Monday to chase TX/OK....it's an itch that needs to be scratched! Everyone be safe out there, and I wish ya'll the very best luck!!

I got a chance of storm to marginally severe storms sunday and monday also. I'm not gonna hold my breath seeing is its only the beginning of March!!

HURRY SPRING! Here in New Mexico, we are sick of all the snow--and our ranch is at 7000 feet, so we got boatloads. We have a terrific view of the the plains to the East, and even though an F5 Tornado in New Mexico is FIVE Walmart bags blowing in the wind (my bad LOL), we get some terrific lightning photo ops and the best rainbows you ever did see! GOOD LUCK guys, and if you are in our next of the woods, let you know and we'll throw you a NM BBQ!!

Weather guys around here saying the only thing really keeping the monday system from being really bad is not enough sunshine so if we get any sunshine on monday afternoon... Look out!

Yipee season 2010 is here :)

Incidentally we had a massive hail storm hit Melbourne (Aus) today, it took out the west facing windows of my house, destroyed my garden, flash flooding everywhere and power lines down. Hailstones up to 6cm in diameter in my backyeard. First time I ever saw (and heard!) "giant" hail, and it was awesome :)

Hope you guys get some tornadoes.

Awesome! When I lived in Russell back in the 80's and 90's, we had lots of good storms. FYI, stay off the Limestone Rock roads if they are wet!! Would hate for you to get caught cause you were stuck. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

MONSTER lightning shooting over the mountains around us right now. Heavy rain that I hope will get rid of some of the snow (in the feet we have had!). Typical creepy jagged bolts..loud, scary, and GREAT for photos! YEE-HAW from New Mexico!
