Aw, thanks, Jo.
But you have to remember that the closest most of us will get to knowing Reed is from what is presented on the TV show, as edited. I've read his book so I've "seen" a deeper character than the superficially edited character on TV, but I still make no pretense of knowing him. I can only make comments about him based on what I have seen on TV or read.
One thing I come back to when people blame the editing: the editors cannot edit what they do not have. Because of that, imo, the editing issue is just an excuse.
Reed is very passionate about what he has chosen to do with his life. One reason he was cast was because of the drama that comes from that passion so it is only natural to know that the editors will feature that drama.
One thing the editors also showed, which might have been missed in the first episode this year(?) or maybe it was on the Mythbusters appearance, were voice overs or scenes with Reed being graceful and full of poise in contrast to Sean's increasing childishness. There just seemed something a lot more grounded to the Reed in that scene or small group of short scenes than I had seen in previous years. It made me think he had matured in some important ways over the past year. Maybe it was the process of writing his book which impressed me with a quieter, more self aware Reed which I never saw in the material Discovery presents. Or maybe it was more him in normal, non chasing, times and since we only see him in chasing times on TV...we only see the excited side? The edited side.
About Janae! I really liked Janae. I miss Janae.
I don't like this other one. At all. I mean, look at all the makeup she was wearing to go out on a chase! Come on. That girl was only looking for her close up and more TeeVee fame.

Unless she's chasing a tornado that's about to destroy a Neiman-Marcus or Marshall Fields department store, I don't think she's going to have much longterm interest in the pursuit.
