Looking good off the south west coast not sure how far in land its going to get the instability stays around for quiet awhile also on GFS still there by morning off the coast of Cornwall. Surely something has to come out of that when it makes its way in land?

As far as this Instability/Energy thats there, as you saw there was T/Storm activity last night but so far today things have been very quiet here anyway.
Very little shower activity inland showing right now but as Ozzys graphic shows there are some heavy showers/storms tracking this way. If that tracking stays constant then Cornwall, Somerset(me), Devon, Dorset look likely areas.

Currently 2 areas of raised CAPE sitting either side of those heavy showers, both 350+ with LI at -1 to -2.
Where the showers are at present is only 50-200 but still enough for something as the lightning data shows.

Watching with interest

Its all off the North West of France, need to look at sat pictures, but its all that way.

One thing I've noticed is the strike rates are now getting few and far between, could see a calming down period?

The wind vectors have changed slightly and it didnt look as if it would swing so far south ( over France ) but both 850 and 700 still show it as making its way back up over the S/SW.
Not sure how long lived things will be but still not ruling out something maybe a bit later.
Maybe S Coast being best ?

Ups, looking at the radar now, and comparing it with the Lightning tracker, it looks like the Lightning is just coming over Brittany now, and is on track to hit the Dorset, Devon coast.

However, the radar indicates some heavy rain coming in from the South West, and making its way towards ya mate, probably about 30 miles from Exeter as at 4.15pm

I've been following this up and coming cold spell as you know so been off topic with most of you but trying to keep you updated as and when for next week. This morning when I seen the 00z I thought the snow potential was all over I did say at the time it was just one run though. But just watched over the 12z coming out and it's very back on good news if your a snow fan. The east is looking to get another pasting and many other areas. It's to early to talk precip totals at the moment this far out we will know when its closer to the time..

Looks like the juice has run out for these storms over the English Channel, no strikes in the last couple of minutes, just alot of rain...

Uppie - how did you post that image of the radar you took a couple of weeks back when you had that early morning intense rainfall? I tried posting the radar with 500 wind vectors earlier and when I saved it all I got was a black screen.

Wazza, I think he print screen it, and uploaded it to a picture hosting site. Servimg I think Ups uses, I use photobucket when I need to upload...

Ah cheers buddy. I use Photobucket too for image hosting. It's obviously designed so you cannot copy it but no harm to post it on an enthusiasts forum eh.
