It's a roll cloud, a cousin of a shelf cloud.

Yeah thats a roll cloud for sure. Happens alot out ahead of a thunderstorm mostly a squall line. As the cold air goes out ahead of it sometimes it causes an outflow boundary a mini cold front basicly and thats what you see.
