Moderate risk for tomorrow! PDF Print E-mail

22_day2outlookThe morning model runs look abstolutely amazing for central/eastern KS southward into Oklahoma, with textbook hodographs for strong tornadoes.  The moisture has also been returning more rapidly than forecast by previous models, with around 60F dewpoints now forecast across the entire Southern Plains by tomorrow afternoon.  Based on these insane morning model runs, the SPC has gone with a moderate risk in their recent Day 2 outlook, with a mention of strong tornadoes near the I-35 corridor.  I am not concerned at all with storms remaining discrete tomorrow from South Dakota down to Oklahoma, since storm motions will be near normal to the advancing boundary/Pacific front.  The Live streaming network has been growing rapidly, and will be in full force for tomorrow's outbreak.  Stay tuned for updates!

I live in Tulsa and just joined today. I think tomorrow looks good. I will have to find a room to be safely in if it gets bad. I am going to to college and study architecture and by doing so will build safer and stronger homes. This is such a great team and have enjoyed what you guys have done.

Isnt everything really supposed to get interesting around early to mid evening? Especially around the North Central Oklahoma/ South Central Kansas?

-7 #11 JeffTulsa 2009-03-22 09:08
That is what the local meteorologists said.

To bad my volunteering is located in a basement but it will be after 5 when the storms start oh darn. I never can figure out why some houses have basements and others don't one thing I will fix and I have an idea of making or reinforcing houses with concrete. I have no other idea to make a tornado safe home other than building it with concrete.

Last year I had a rotating storm go above my house and we lost power and had some tree limb damage that was in April and when we moved to a new home (not because of the storms) In December we had a rotating storm come over us and the power flickered. Turned out that 3 miles from us was a small EF1 tornado. The funny thing is in May of Last year we looked out the house and a couple of weeks before that was the tornado that hit the storage building in Broken Arrow.

Well hopefully there are no deaths tomorrow. it's far fetched but that would make this event much better. Looks like tomorrow is gonna be very big though. All of tornado alley is under the gun tomorrow.

Quoting James1:
All of tornado alley is under the gun tomorrow.

I sure hope there are no deaths and sure hope there are no EF5 or EF4 tornados tomorrow. We can't rule out an EF4. I saw what happened in Lone Grove last month. I saw the footage and I was saddened to hear that 8 people died. I always start preparing for the upcoming severe weather season in February. Now that we have a weather radio we are going to get a safe room hopefully soon. Here is what I always say on a severe weather day"Lets just pray for all those in danger to be safe and that there are no lives lost today".

Yeah the only problem is that we make up most of the people that are observant about this stuff. It wouldn't surprise me if most folks in tornado alley don't know it's even coming. Just hope they're smart when the outbreak flares.

What's it looking like for the Kearney Nebraska area for Monday? Is anything going to be worth a hoot up in HuskerLand?

-1 #24 JeffTulsa 2009-03-22 11:34
I hope. It will probably be an after dark tornado outbreak which is a worse case scenario. Lets just hope that everybody is observant and are of what is going on. I always keep it on our local Channel 2 (KJRH NBC TULSA). James1 are you in the path of the impending storm?

0 #25 James1 2009-03-22 11:34
Uh i think your area is in the 15% area. I wouldn't bet on it. You probably wanna chase further South.
