Tonight is episode two, which will certainly be an episode to remember for all of the TVN team/production.  It features the deadly EF-4 wedge tornado which leveled the southern side of Yazoo City, MS on April 24th--our hearts and thoughts go out to all of those affected by this tornado. Below is the video TVN shot on this day as well as some photos I shot of the aftermath.  Reed has also helped set up a relief for the victims which you may view here...even a small donation can go a long ways.

Hopefully, this episode will help open the eyes to the ones who do not take severe weather seriously--in reality, this could be anyone's town or home, or family that could be affected.  Weather radios, having a plan for severe weather, and taking shelter in underground shelters are all crucial steps that can be taken in making sure that life can be protected.

As always, post your thoughts and comments from tonight's episode below. Also, click here to see how you can help Yazoo City recover.

Reed and Chris,

I understand wearing flip flops while you're driving to your location is a comfort choice, but clearly slip-sliding in the mud severely hindered your search and rescue efforts in Yazoo.

Would you PLEASE consider wearing something more practical while actually "persecuting" or pursuing a tornado? You guys are constantly pushing the envelope and the life you save may be your own by chasing with shoes and maybe even full-face helmets. It doesn't make for very good TV but if I took a direct hit in the face like you did last season, I'd be packing helmets and wearing boots or at least running shoes while trying to get the Dominator into the path of another F-2+ twister.

I am a HUGE fan and am glad to see the big guy back in the Dominator and can't wait for Episode 3 tomorrow night! What about a contest for TVN fans to win a chance to ride with you on a Stormchasers episode? I'd go in a second...

I really think that people need to pay less attention to the fact that he was wearing flip flops and more attention to the fact that reed, and the rest of the team helped alot of people in yahoo city.

Guys,

Is there any update on Lee Wood? I was traveling through that area on business that day, but I never knew that the damage was that extensive.

Would like to help, and interested in helping with some sponsorship if it works.

Let me know, thanks!

I think everyone should get first aid and CPR certification, and you should NEVER wear flip flops and shorts when chasing! I know they are more compfortable while riding in a car, but as a mama I was freaking out seeing you walk thru that dangerous stuff with flip flops on!!
Please let all us mama's know you will wear sneakers from now on! PLEASE!!

Please update us as soon as possible about Lee Wood and the girl that was in the back of the truck, thanks to you guys for getting out there like you did. Also, listen to MamaYoung, she sounds like she knows what she is talking about!

Reed, Chris, Joel and medics...You are HEROES! I remember that day vividly...I was chasing in Tennessee, it was amazing at how fast storms were moving and how fast they were going severe and tornadic. It was like matador chasing, we set up somewhere and let the storm come to us and move accordingly. I had a busy day that day, fortunately very little damage here. I hope everyone in Yazoo City and all the other communities affected that day are doing well. I will keep you in my thoughts.

I see people are wondering about Lee...well he did unfortunately become a quadriplegic.

And no...I do not know him personally...I just read his comments on YouTube.

Wish him well @

Actually, Reed reports (on FB) that:

"You'll see him again in episode 5 as well. He's slowly regaining feeling in his legs and may be able to walk again with a cane in a few years. He's a grinder"

Constructive criticism for Reed. I was taught the first rule of rescue is not to make a victim of yourself. This means dont run around a distater zone in flip flops and shorts.

Im glad that guy is going to be okay. Great job tvn getting down and doing what have to be done. Sean should shut up hes just jelouse of Reed! It should just motivate Reed even more. (not that reed needs to be motivated more!)I am glad that Sean did say that he respected Tvn for helping! Good luck to Yazoo City with repairs and loses. I hope everything turns out for the best!

Awesome episode 2 guys. I was really worried about guys trying to intercept that Yazoo tornado. The Dominator is tuff but I not sure about surviving that twister. You guys are great and I can't wait for the next episode. Oh yea. Reed, carry some shoes with you next time man.

Seriously Reed you need to have some real shoes on when you get out of the dominator. It's very unsafe, even driving in them when you do, and they don't look that great on TV either ;-)

@ Cougar69 - "Quadriplegic" means a person is paralyzed in all four extremities (from the neck down). Lee Wood is a RECOVERING "Paraplegic" (paralyzed from the waist down). Please research your terminology... You gave the impression that his injuries were much more grave then they actually were (as most Quadriplegics do not recover). I am not trying to minimalize or downplay the extent of Lee's injuries, as they were EXTREMELY severe (my thoughts and prayers are with him, and I wish him a speedy recovery). However as a person who is disabled, and bound to a wheelchair, I think you need to do a little research before you drop medical terms... It would be like me saying "an EF1 went through Greensburg"... Anyway... Episode 2 was intense, and I'm glad to see that Reed has put science, and research at the forefront of TVN. You WILL save many lives with your data. Hats off to TVN for helping those in Yazoo City. YOU ARE HEROES!

You guys did a great job in Yazoo City - Being an RN, I was cringing a bit while Lee was being helped out of the wreckage but all went extremely well - great job! (BTW: I found Lee's page and wished him strength and good health.) Now that you've been repremanded (well) for your choice of footwear - isn't there a nook or cranny in your Super-Tahoe for an emergency kit (including boots, HELMETS, bandaids...?) Plus you could look at it this way; maybe you could get the flop-maker to be a sponsor! ;-) Take care - BE SAFE!
