Dick McGowan of TornadoLive captured this INCREDIBLE lightning photo early this morning near Lawrence, KS!  Notice the moon under the base of that updraft, as well as the lightning's reflection all the way to shore!

Check out more of Dick's work at his website, http://stackedplates.blogspot.com/

Severe weather is possible today

for parts of South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska. With temperatures in the central and northern Plains near 90 degrees and marginal dewpoints, storms that do fire will be insanely high-based, but sufficient wind shear does exist for supercells. Chasers who venture out today are sure to see some great structure with any storms that form this afternoon! We will be streaming so be sure to follow along on the LIVE video tab!

thanks jo Im not that technical but I got the hint and man did it blow up. I hit not one but 2 super cells within 30 miles of my house. the best storms this year. The farthest away kinda unfolded right in front of me. Ended up with tornado warning how ever only straight line winds spawned from it. Some penny size hail nice lightning and a couple inches of rain in 20 min. All in all not bad. Unfortunately as is custom when your not prepared my camera died after I turned it on so no pics. Thanks again Jo.

SPECTACULAR SHOT!! It's interesting that the "tentacle's" aren't reflected in the water and the main bolt looks wider in the water! Don't ya just love the technical terms I used??! ;-)

Yeah, I guess stream-er is better than saying "tentacle's". My first thought was to say those "doohickeys"!!
PS: I also meant to say "love" and not 'learn". Stoopid keyboard ain't spelin rite agin.
