Gizmo and I are DOMINATING this evening, spending some quality time together as Chris and I get ready for our storm chasing adventure in Argentina, which is coming up in just over one week. Although we'd like to sneak Gizmo onto the plane with us and smuggle her into South America, she will be staying behind with our roommates Aaron (from the Scout team on Storm Chasers!) and Huy. We know she will be well taken care of!
While there is still not much of a weather story today, the long-range models have been hinting at a potentially major winter storm as well as a significant cold wave to blanket the majority of U.S. just after Christmas. This is still a long way out right now, but the models have been pretty consistent in picking up on the very cold air, while the placement and intensitiy of the precipitation has been shifting east and west. Check out the temperature map from the 12z run of the GFS, below! This is definitely something to keep an eye on, especially for people who may be traveling over the holidays. Stay tuned for updates!
