A much weaker Hurricane Gustav is slowly making landfall in the swamplands of southern Louisiana this morning, packing winds of 110 mph (at the very maximum) and a storm surge of 4-6 feet or so. Over the last 24 hours, Gustav has encountered more southerly shear than previously indicated by the models, and dry air was also wrapped into the circulation. Thankfully for the residents of southern Louisiana, this resulted in a substantial weakening of Gustav in the Gulf of Mexico. TVN is currently in Lafayette, LA, and will likely start moving southward toward the eye shortly. I just talked to Joel and he said they will start streaming once they experience some weather!! Stay tuned for updates.
