Ike might be a small hurricane in terms of size, but I guarantee it packs a punch. Ike has been upgraded several times today by the NHC (including a non scheduled update) and is now rated a Cat 3 with 115mph (100kt) winds and a central pressure of 960mb. Ike is forecased to be a strong Cat 3 to moderate Cat 4 for the next few days as it aims for the Bahamas. In about 7 days Ike might get luckey enough to shoot the gap and make it into the Gulf with minimal land interaction. This could mean another large evacuation for the Gulf Coast. ![]()
