danny1 An area of enhanced convection a few hundred miles east of the Bahamas has begun to show signs of increased circulation, henceforth the National Hurrican Center naming our fourth tropical storm in the Atlantic as Danny. It is borderline tropical/extratropical, as it is showing signs of both at this time. The NHC does believe it has a chance to become a full-fledged hurricane however, and it may be so right off the coast of the Atlantic seaboard. In fact, the current track has it going straight into Cape Cod! We will be monitoring this.. stay tuned!

I believe the term would be subtropical? LOL It came very close to becoming subtropical, but FSU's data changed their mind, as cited in the Discussion:

TROPICAL STORM DANNY DISCUSSION NUMBER 1

…THE STORM HAS BEEN TANGLED UP WITH AN UPPER-LEVEL LOW FOR THE PAST
24 HR…AND THE STRUCTURE AS MUCH RESEMBLES A SUBTROPICAL CYCLONE
AS A TROPICAL CYCLONE. HOWEVER…CYCLONE PHASE ANALYSES FROM
FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY SUGGEST THAT DANNY IS MARGINALLY MORE
TROPICAL THAN SUBTROPICAL…HENCE THE DESIGNATION OF TROPICAL
STORM…

+1 #4 NCtraveler 2009-08-26 14:42 At the moment I think that Danny is too far west to take a Bill track. I think it will landfall somewhere in NC and then re-emerge over water and affect the entire East Coast up to perhaps Cape Cod.
